I can't say enough wonderful things about Busy Bees. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and reassured. The staff are incredibly caring, attentive, and patient - they truly take the time to get to know each child and make them feel loved and comfortable.
The environment is bright, safe,
and full of engaging activities that encourage learning through play. Our child has blossomed since joining - becoming more confident, social, and curious every single day. Communication with parents is also excellent; we always know what our little one has been up to and how they're progressing.
It's clear that the team genuinely cares about the children's wellbeing and development. We're so grateful to have found such a nurturing place for our child - we couldn't recommend Busy Bees highly enough!

The staff have always been professional yet friendly and accommodating with us. Currently I have one baby at the nursery who was very nervous to begin with and cried at every drop off for a few weeks. The staff were so patient and hard working that now she bumbles in with joy, her confidence outside
of the classroom has improved with it.
The food seems to be great, and the shared areas always clean and tidy which can be no mean feat with the number of small bus people to clear up after

The support around my 2yo granddaughter's start at Busy Bees Melrose couldn't have been better. All staff were unfailingly friendly and showed that they had time to feed back at the end of every session. And best of all, my granddaughter has settled quickly and is loving being there. Thanks to everyone
involved - I would 100% recommend Busy Bees to anyone in the area!

We always have a great experience with Busy Bees Melrose. Our daughter loves her days there, she always has loads of fun and really enjoys all the activities they do. The rooms are really well equipped for the age ranges and really encourage exploring and learning through play. The staff are lovely
and super helpful. They are always available to chat to and willing to support if/when it is required. Menu always sounds great as well!

My child has attended busy bees Melrose nursery for a year and a half now and we love it as a family. As a former nursery worker myself, I have never seen such a beautiful facility and a wonderful selection of staff. They are always focusing on the next way to fully develop the nursery, every room is
equipped well, with access to a lovely sensory/sound room. My child, who hasn't always enjoyed watching mum and dad go off to work, has been well comforted, her skills have been developed and she comes home happy and content. The meals have always been so delicious and healthy, my child eats pretty much every bit. The warm fairy lights up around the room makes the place feels extra homely and children have clear easy access to everything, if needed. The outdoor garden feels secure and private with an arrange of equipment. If any nursery deserves to be recognised for it's brilliance, attention to detail and caring atmosphere, it is this one. We will miss it when school comes

The staff at busy bees have always been kind and respectful, they genuinely seem to take an interest in our childs development and encourage them to following their interests. The food the nursery provides is healthy, well balanced, and must be very tasty since our daughter always seems to finish it
all (how do they do it?). Our child seems very comfortable in the staffs care, which shows especially at the end of the day as they always seem happy and content while being picked up. Yes, happy with the nursery, huge thumbs up to them and their outstanding setting. Certainly exceeds our expectations as a family

This nursery is absolutely fantastic. The staff are so professional but also extremely caring and seem to really know my daughter. The senior staff are very kind and understanding towards busy working parents and are always trying hard to make the nursery feel welcoming and inclusive for the whole family
as well as the child that attends.
They did a wonderful Christmas event for the children at a weekend and also a lovely lights switch on which felt very special. I am so pleased my daughter attends, the learning is clearly focussed and planned but also fun for the child and she is blossoming under their care. I feel happy dropping her off and picking her up. Thank you so much to the team for all your hard work.

Our son is so happy at Busy Bees Melrose. He had a great relationship with the staff and his friends. He loves going in and frequently doesn't want to leave to come home, which as a parent makes it so much easier to leave him knowing he's happy.

My daughter started attending Busy Bees Melrose in January 26. Naturally both of us were a little nervous but the staff did everything possible to put us at ease. They put regular information on the app and a few updates to ensure we knew she was loving it. They are brilliant and getting her in in the
morning and so far I have loved my experience there, as has my daughter. I am sure that will continue as they strive to make a friendly environment for both parent and child. X

Since starting in August 2025, our daughter has came on leaps and bounds. Her confidence has improved and her general interactions with both kids and adults has really developed. The activities she takes part in, encourage her to learn and grow and she loves telling us about them and replicating them
at home. She's been able to try a variety of different activities and her interests are really supported. I can't recommend the staff and facility enough. We recently had another child and the staff at Melrose have been 100% supportive in helping our first child welcome her sibling. The transition has been seamless.

Our experience at busy bees Melrose has been fantastic, our little boy has additional needs and when I say the team at Melrose have been the best I mean it, from knowing on days he won't eat certain foods and always ensuring there's other foods there to offer him, getting time out in the office for
a play on the spinning chair or extra time out in the garden which seems to have been his happy place. I had a giggle one day as I went to hand my son over to one of the girls in the room when he clocked his favourite worker behind her, that was him full of smiles and didn't look back for me. Seeing these relationships form between him and the staff has been beautiful and we are forever grateful to them all for these memories. The app they have is very reassuring and is updated daily on all the information from the day and the odd picture is lovely to receive especially when your child's ASN. A smile can speak so much more than words can.

All 3 of our children have attended Busy Bees Melrose, from March 2018 until now. Our youngest son is the last to attend and he is currently having a great time in Bombo 2. The staff are caring and spend time and effort making new and different activities for the kids to enjoy, which are often led by
the children's interests. The food is freshly prepared daily and is varied and nutritious. The outside spaces for each room have different spaces where the children can engage in multiple activities and have lots of fun. They are given the chance to go outside daily; even in the best Scottish weather!
There is also a separate room with sensory spaces and a huge sand pit which the children can explore in small groups with staff members. Our middle son is autistic and he loved this space when he attended nursery here.
There are also lots of innovative practices like the donation station at the front door for food, utilities and toys which parents can take if they need to.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.908)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.908) out of 10 for Busy Bees Melrose is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 30 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.908 for Busy Bees Melrose is calculated as follows: ( (337 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 357 Ratings = 4.908
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Busy Bees Melrose is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 number of registered child places is 15, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
