Located just two minutes off the junction of the A1 and A690 in Durham, Clever Clogs Belmont provides 96 nursery childcare places for 0-5 year olds and 26 out of school places, including before and after-school and holiday clubs, for schoolchildren up to the age of 11.

Nursery care is provided in spacious rooms designed to complement the various stages of the Early Years Foundation Stage, with children progressing from room to room as they develop their learning.

I was really anxious to put my baby into nursery however Clever Clogs has made the transition so easy. They have been so supportive of us as parents, providing loads of info & updates. Our baby has thrived at Clever Clogs & within even a short space of time we noticed new things he was doing. When we
arrive at nursery he smiles and seems so happy to be there. The ladies who look after him seem so loving, fun and nurturing.

My child loves attending Clever Clogs and enjoys participating in the age appropriate activities. My son has food allergys which the nursery are great with and provide an array of different things. His development with his speech has came along way since starting Clever Clogs and he often repeats the
words he has learnt or new sounds. The staff are great with my son and he has a big smile whenever he sees them. I would highly recommend this nursery!

My daughter attends Clever Clogs and has grown to absolutely love her days there. The staff are always so welcoming at drop offs and give reassurance on the days my daughter is a little apprehensive about going into nursery.
There is always a big variety of activities going on throughout the weeks
and I find my daughter enjoys all aspects of these. She has came along leaps and bounds since starting here and I'd say that's down to the staff keeping close observation and always challenging her to enable her to progress.
The food menu has lots of different choices changing in a weekly basis, and when I look to see what she has eaten that day I'm often surprised at what different meals she's tried.
Communication with staff about my daughter's development has meant that we are always in the same page and they will take in board anything new we are trying at home and stick to her routine.
Would highly recommend the staff and Clever Clogs Belmont.

Since my niece has started the nursery we have seen a difference to her overall development. Staff have been lovely and welcoming on every handover and always give a detailed description of how her day has been and what she's been doing throughout the day.

Both of my children have attended Clever Clogs Nursery and I couldn't recommend it enough. All the staff are friendly, approachable and professional. I am kept informed on my children's day via the app which is also a quick way to communicate anything to nursery as well. Both of my children have loved
attending Clever Clogs and get to experience a variety of activities each day. Meals are provided if they attend for the full day which again, exposes them to new foods and staff encourage and support them with independent feeding etc.
The rates are reasonable and it's in a great location close the the motorway and A690.

My child would not be as far advanced without Clever Clogs Day Nursery. The staff are always warm, available for help and take great care in making sure my child is safe. Great facilities too that are always clean even with this many children running around.

Donna has over 9 years of experience in the early years when she began working as a practitioner with the company. Over the years she has developed from practitioner to manager with the ongoing help, guidance and support from an amazing staffing team and all our parents.


The children are always at the heart of everything we do. It's such a privilege to be a part of the children's starting journeys from the day they enrol with us, watching as they grow and develop along the way.

Lorraine is our office manager who started with us back in July 2024 and handles our administration. Lorraine has an AAT qualification and is currently working to update her L3 EYE qualification. Nicole has been with us for almost two years, she started as a practitioner in our Clever Thinkers room and was recently promoted to Senior room leader in September. She has a Level Three in childcare and has been working with children for the last 10 years. She has a passion for teaching and providing children with the relevant life skills they need before they go to school. Nicole loves to provide loose parts play opportunities and implement child-led risk-taking.
