Childsplay Claremont Nursery Cooperative Ltd

A kind and caring nursery that my daughter has thrived in for the past 2 years. Wonderful opportunities for children to develop their imaginations. Great outside play both at the nursery and through forest school and the allotment. A gem of a nursery in the city centre.

Our son has attended Childsplay for the last 12 months. Over this time he has been cared for, supported, engaged and stimulated to an excellent degree, and in many instances the level of support and engagement provided by his key workers has gone above and beyond what would be 'expected'. We chose this nursery for our son as we loved the ethos of Childsplay and the fact that it is clear that every day is centred around the children, both individually and as groups. A true, simple measure of this is that the management knows every child by name! Since starting at Childsplay our son has blossomed into the most wonderful little boy and some of the credit for that has to be taken by the nursery staff and the wonderful environment they create, both indoors and outdoors. We can't wait to see what happens next!!

Used this nursery for all 3 of my children and could not have asked for better. The staff are amazing and the nursery has a lovely friendly warm family feel to it. This nursery is a cooperative and therefore any profit is put back into the nursery to continue to develop facilities and staff. Cannot recommend this nursery and the committed early years practitioners who work in and run this setting highly enough.

Childsplay Day Nursery is a fantastic nursery, our son has been attending since he was 7 months old and loves it. He is growing into an intelligent, sociable and chatty little boy. Each room is well equipped, clean and inviting and the outdoor space for a city-centre nursery is fantastic. Staff at the nursery are highly qualified and excellent caregivers, and have supported me and my son through his journey. I feel that the nursery has had a noticeable impact on my son's development, his speech and language is excellent, he is confident and sociable, inquisitive and caring. Being a co-operative, I feel we're more involved in the way the nursery is run, having the opportunity to contribute to the future of the nursery. My son is now 3 and attending forest school and talking French, these new experiences are enriching for him and rewarding for us as parents - hearing him describe with great enthusiasm the activities and tasks he's carried out each week. I can't recommend Childsplay nursery enough.

My two sons have both attended Childsplay from <1 years. My eldest remained within the nursery until he began school and my youngest son is still attending. This nursery has provided my children with a wonderfully nurturing environment within which this has developed key foundation skills. The staff are outstanding throughout and the nursery benefits from exceptional management. The children are encouraged through a wide range of stimulating activities and are provided with a very good, nutritional diet. I cannot recommend this nursery highly enough.

Childsplay is an excellent nursery. My three children have all attended on a part-time basis from the age of one. I think two main things set this nursery apart. First is the attitude of the staff. They have genuinely cared for my children, and have provided such a wonderful, warm, nurturing environment. The Reggio Emilia philosophy enters into all their practice and results in a positive, calm and child-focussed approach to learning. Secondly, the nursery provides extraordinary opportunities for the children, especially from age three. The garden is amazing, and children also get to use the art space in the loft, have trips to the allotment, and the great experience of Forest School. My children have also really enjoyed learning foreign languages. Overall this nursery is outstanding, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for preschool care.

I find the nursery to be very good. The staff are very skilled in looking after children. My child is very happy and looks forward to going to nursery. He s always well kept. He has shown great development in a variety of areas and skills and the pace at which staff support him with his development is well balanced.

The only thing I see as a downside is the restricted opening times.

He has allergies and is fully catered for with full menus and ingredients lists provided to me.

We will miss everyone when we leave.

I know my children have particularly enjoyed the Forest School activities and, more recently, the allotment. The staff are to be congratulated on working so hard to provide a wonderful service.

This is a fabulous nursery. I could not praise the staff highly enough. The care for the children, facilities and activities are first rate. My child loves going to nursery and I attributed a lot of this development and learning to Childsplay.

Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff and lots of time outside. She always comes home tired but happy. She is usually happy going in after a very gently managed settling in period (which is done over 2 weeks), but if she is a bit wobbly someone always notices and gives her a cuddle and distraction.

When we are concerned about our daughter it is so helpful as first-time parents to talk to our keyworker as she knows our daughter well and notices even small changes in her wellbeing, development or health.

Management staff have also been approachable and friendly throughout and they have been flexible in providing us with extra days when we have needed them.

We are leaving Newcastle and will all be very sorry to leave Childsplay as they feel more like family due to the relationship they have with our daughter.

Our daughter has attended Childsplay from the age of 12 months and has thrived in a warm and supportive environment which cares about her as a person and her development. Childsplay's policies are clear and easy to find and its structure as a cooperative allows for very real engagement by parents in the care of their children. The nursery staff are uniformly supportive and friendly and their daily reports provide a really useful insight into how she is developing and what activities she enjoys. We cannot think of a better place for her to go to nursery.

Our daughter has always enjoyed her time at Childsplay and as parents, we are impressed with the ethos, standards of care for the children, excellent meals and delivery of the early year's curriculum in a safe and inspiring environment. Children seem engaged, settled and immersed in their play. We feel very lucky that our daughter can benefit from the Childsplay experience.

We are very happy to have chosen Childsplay to become our childcare provider on my return to work. He is cared for very well, has built up excellent relationships with the lovely staff very quickly, and they have kept us well informed about his daily activities, routines and developments. I know he is safe hands in the baby room and is happy to be there having lots of varied fun.

My daughter has been attending Childsplay Day Nursery from her 6 months and she is now 3 years and loves it. Their settings is great, I loved the size of the rooms when we first visited as well as the hardwood floors. All the staff are extremely nice and always have a nice word about her day or her behaviour. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. They are always trying to improve the nursery, their garden area has recently been redesigned and is so lovely. I am very happy with their work and I believe that they have helped my daughter become the confident child she now is.

E-mails are concise and useful and we're always kept well informed.

Childsplay is a well organised nursery and I would highly recommend to all parents. My son always enjoys his time at the nursery and sometimes even refused to go home! Staff are friendly and approachable. Each day my son will learn something new through different activities and toys available.

My daughter has been attending Childsplay 2 days a week for 5 months and absolutely loves it. It's a safe, loving and nurturing environment which we think has really helped her confidence to blossom. Staff are so attentive to her development and interests and make sure she has what she needs to help them grow. Every day the play areas look different, there are different types of objects to arrange, a magical sensory area, tents and dens, sandpits, shredded paper, painting, soft play and more. A lot of thought is put into having different textures, colours, weights, shapes of objects which the babies can explore. It never looks or feels tired or run down. Different to most nurseries we looked round, the baby unit at Childsplay has so much space, 4 different rooms! The outdoor space is beautiful with lots of natural feeling play areas. We love reading her diary from the day on the way home which is always so detailed. As a non profit co operative, as a parent you can really play a part.

Child's play is a wonderful nursery that I can't recommend enough. The staff and management are very engaged, caring and consistent. The environment is good with lots of learning opportunities and free learning toys. They have fantastic outdoor space and encourage creativity and exploration. They communicate well about how the children have been doing and always have time for parents. Our children enjoy going and we've never doubted for one minute the choice to place them there. It's a cooperative so has sound ethical values and an engaged management with lots of parental involvement in the day to day running.
