The opening hours are really convenient as both my husband and I work full time.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rainbows to anyone looking for childcare.
We always feel comfortable leaving our little girl for her sessions, even when she gets upset at our departure.
It is a very safe environment, and all of the outside space is a massive plus.
My children have always been very happy, and are thriving from spending time there.
The facilities at Rainbow are excellent - Clean, bright and spacious rooms, lots of good quality toys and activities, books and lots of outdoor space. There is also a varied and nutritious menu, and the practitioners are fantastic. They are so warm and caring and formed a wonderful bond with our son. We found that all of our requests were taken into account, and felt confident leaving him in their care. Definitely the best nursery in the area, in our opinion.
Both our children had food allergies, and they couldn’t have done more to accommodate their nutritional needs whilst at nursery.
I was also really impressed with the Pre-school setting. My daughter was more than ready to start school last September thanks to the provision. She was singing the phonics songs all summer long and confidently moved up to reception, where her reading has continued to impress me all year long. That is thanks to a brilliant start within the pre-school team!
Thank you, everyone, at Rainbow and keep up the good work!
Granted I am a first-time mummy and my experience of nurseries is therefore not overly large, however, I could not hold Rainbow Nursery any higher than I do. All the staff, form my don’s leading carers, to the additional carers who looked after him during the COVID-19 period, to one lady who has talked me down off many a mummy-ledge and the owners themselves who were amazing to talk to during the pandemic. The staff have put me, my partner, and most importantly my baby, at ease from the moment we had our initial viewing of the nursery. I especially love the detailed update I receive both in written form and through photos of his day so that we are still able to feel like we know what he’s been up to. The wide range of activities he has completed since attending is great, and we couldn’t be happier with the progress he has shown since attending. I would recommend this nursery to any parent, and I’m so grateful we found the perfect place for our baby boy.
Everyone and I mean everyone, is so kind, thoughtful and so loving, you have such a heartfelt feeling instantly that no other nursery gives (and I visited a lot)!
I was so comfortable in deciding that Rainbow was the right nursery for us and not a moment since then have I felt any different.
The twins are so happy each morning to go to the nursery and always have a fun-filled day with play activities, leaving an amazing menu of food!
I love the daily reports you receive about what the children have been up to each day along with photos, paintings and decorated biscuits!
Rainbow is highly organised and always there to offer help, guidance and support when needed.
Nothing is too much trouble for Rainbow, and they are a credit all to themselves!
I have done and will continue to recommend Rainbow Nursery to any parent/s of nursery aged children that I come into contact with. After visiting more or less every nursery in our area when deciding on where to place our firstborn, once we had visited Rainbow, it was an absolute no-brainer. Not only are the facilities second to none, but the key thing for us - the friendly and helpful staff are exceptional. The communications between nursery and parents are fantastic with regular online updates of your child’s progress and they run regular events where parents can come spend time in the setting with their child and chat to the carers and managers. We had no hesitation in sending our second child to Rainbow, and our only regret is that we didn’t place our first child into their care earlier than we did. I can not recommend them highly enough so if you want excellent care and peace of mind your child is being well looked after then look no further.
My two children (who are now 13 and 8) were full-time attendees from 6 and 9months old, and I really valued the care they received. My daughter had hip dysplasia at birth and through medical complications had to have surgery at 1-year-old and then spent 13 weeks in a chest-to-toe plaster cast. The practitioners in the baby room went out of their way to ensure she was equipped with everything she needed to play, eat and rest in comfort. Both of my children learnt valuable social skills from a very early age and developed lovely friendships with children and practitioners alike. Rainbow has always been flexible when circumstances required, and I've even attended first aid training that the facility has arranged for parents. The rooms are clean, well-equipped and decorated and the outdoor spaces are fantastic. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rainbow to any new parent.
The staff are so professional, the setting is clean and clearly invested in, there are amazing multiple outdoor play areas, and I love getting the daily updates via the app. But for us, one of the things that struck us most is how content the children are. At the previous nursery, we used there would always be children crying at drop off and pick up, but I think it is testament to how proactive the staff at Rainbow and how settled the children feel, that we rarely see children upset.
Rainbow nursery is a big setting and was overwhelming as a parent at first. But don't let this put you off - the daily contact is focussed on the room and staff where your child is.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rainbow to anyone.
Rainbow is a wonderful family environment where our children have thrived. The staff are great - always friendly, helpful and so caring. I’m constantly amazed by how quickly my children have developed - learning all the time and making wonderful friends. The outdoor space was one of the main attractions of this nursery, and it is well used every day - the children really thrive on daily adventures! Can’t thank you enough for all you do for us.
The practitioners are incredible and create a fun and happy environment for the children.
The overall communication from Rainbows and seeing my daughter's learning journey through the app is fantastic and gives me a great snapshot into her world on a daily basis.
I would highly recommend Rainbows.
My daughter has attended the nursery since she was 9-months-old right through to starting primary school where she now attends the before and after school club and the holiday clubs. She absolutely loves it. The staff are amazing, and I cannot fault the nursery setting. There is a huge outdoor space, and there are always lots of activities. I would highly recommend it.
Thank you, Rainbow, for being flexible, easy to communicate with, honest and trustworthy!
I have been very happy with this nursery for both my children who have been attending this now for almost a year without a break (even during lockdown for Covid-19!). I have experience of almost all rooms now from baby room to preschool, and I don't have a single complaint to make. All I can say is that the staff are brilliant in taking care of the children with appropriate and varied activities for each development stage. The environment both inside and outside is very pleasant and stimulating, and one main reason why I chose this setting was the extensive outside spaces. Both my children love going to this nursery full-time every day, and I am pleased to always find them with a smiley face when I pick them up; I think this is the best proof that the nursery is actually doing an excellent job.
Both my children have attended Rainbow since being one-years-old, and they have thrived in the environment provided by the nursery. I have always had complete confidence that my children were safe and well looked after by caring staff while I had to go to work. The outside space at Rainbow is fantastic, and the children love going out for walks and playtime; this allows a lot of interaction with nature and gives them a great opportunity for physical exercise. I would absolutely recommend this nursery to any prospective parents.
The educational element is based on play-based activities and art so that children learn maths and phonics as they enjoy lessons. I would wholeheartedly recommend Rainbows, your child will not only be in safe hands, but they will also thrive and be well set up for school. A special mention to two lovely ladies who are so enthusiastic every single day, and to the manager who manages Rainbows to such a high standard, always with a smile and time to stop and talk. Rainbows care educates and sparks joy in children and parents.

Meet the Team (1)
My name is Leanne Batley, and I am the Nursery Manager at Kids Planet Barkston Ash. I have been part of the Kids Planet family since 2009, beginning my career at Kids Planet Austhorpe. Starting in the preschool room, I progressed through the nursery and was appointed Nursery Manager in 2014.
During my time in early years education, I have gained extensive knowledge and experience across all aspects of childcare and child development. I am passionate about creating nurturing, stimulating environments where children can learn, grow, and thrive. Supporting and developing my team is equally important to me, and I enjoy mentoring practitioners, helping them build their skills and progress in their careers.
I strongly believe in building positive relationships with children and their families, ensuring they feel supported throughout their nursery journey. It is a privilege to play a part in each child's development and to help prepare them for a confident transition to school.
