The Sunshine Day Nursery NGH is situated within the grounds of the Northern General Hospital.

The nursery was graded as 'Good' by OFSTED in January 2023.

It provides high quality childcare with a discounted rate for staff working for Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and all other NHS organisations (excluding GP surgeries).

The nursery offers 30hrs funding for those who are eligible, is registered for Tax Free Childcare and offers any Trust employees a Salary Sacrifice Scheme which enables them to make big savings on the full amount of their childcare.

The nursery opens at 6.30am and is open until 7.00pm should users require it.

All meals are provided by the Trust and are devised in partnership with dieticians who ensure meals are nutritious.

Both my children have attended this nursery from the age of one, my eldest attended until he started school and youngest is aged 4 and will be there until she starts school too. I have always been very happy with the care that the children have received. The staff are warm and caring and seem genuinely
interested in the children. I would wholeheartedly recommend the nursery.

Sunshine Day Nursery offers a superb standard of care and education. I have sent both my girls there both from an early age and they have loved it and still love it. Everything is right from the food and snacks serviced to the activities they do.
The staff are all loving and approachable and genuinely
care about the kids.
The holiday club from the older kids is also brilliant, my eldest loves it.
A wonderful nursery, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone.

There are lots of activities, singing and crafts for the children to participate in. Flexible drop off and pick up times during arranged hours and it is easy to organise additional days if required. Overall, a lovely nursery with friendly staff.

My daughter has attended this nursery for 3 years and has been supported, nurtured and loved from day one. This is a lovely nursery and I would highly recommend it, the staff excel themselves in every aspect of care and teaching, my little girl has loved every minute of her time there.

Kimberley Marshall

Job Title: Principal Joined: 2001

My names is Kim Marshall and I have worked at the NGH Sunshine Day Nursery for over 20 years doing various different roles before securing the role of Nursery Principal in 2019.


I have a variety of different qualifications ranging from NNEB level 3 in Nursery Nursing to BA Honours and Early Years Professional status.


I am the named person for Safeguarding and also have a full Paediatric First Aid qualification.
