Holyrood Warrington is one of several nurseries owned and operated by Thrive Childcare & Education. Located in Grappenhall, Warrington, the nursery prides itself on providing outstanding care for the children and families that use the setting.

The nursery consists of four well-proportioned rooms and provides care for children aged 3 months to 4 years and 11 months, based on their age and stage of development. The nursery also benefits from an outdoor learning space, which is available to all age groups.

Parent partnerships are a vital part of nursery life and this is promoted from the day you come to look at the nursery. The team works closely with parents to ensure that all of the children’s individual needs are catered for.

Caring and professional practitioners offer a wide range of learning activities tailored to each child’s interests, as well as linking learning to their experiences at home.

Children’s meals are made fresh on site each day ensuring a healthy balanced diet, all prepared in line with recommended nutrition and portion size guidelines.

The nursery is located in a residential area close to Warrington town centre and within easy access to the M56 and M6 motorways, providing routes to Manchester and Birmingham.

Our daughter always has a lovely time at nursery. She is well looked after and pushed to learn new things, and she has developed really well. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and clearly know children well, often responding to the children's interests to build on their learning. Families
are encouraged to be a part of nursery life and are kept well informed through home communication and well-handled handovers at the end of the day. Children are encouraged to be independent and resilient learners and are given a wide range of activities and opportunities as part of the 'actives' curriculum.

My little boy loves his time at Holyrood Nursery. He has been attending for over two years now and has always made lovely relationships with his key workers. The staff work very hard to provide the children with lots of experience including running a nativity for the preschool children, which is invaluable
experience for when they attend primary school. We love this nursery and the staff and have even signed up our youngest to start in a couple of months.

My daughter started the sessional preschool in September 23. My daughter struggled to settle and I cannot thank the manager and another member of staff in particular enough for the care and cuddles they provide. They have both taken the time to get to know my daughter and know how to make her feel happy
and safe.
When I go to work I feel that she is well cared for and loved. My daughter talks fondly of the staff at home although she is still not quite there as far as being fully settled, she has made great progress and enjoys the activities.
The Christmas performance of the wriggly nativity was fantastic and it was clear to see that all children and staff thoroughly enjoyed it! The staff really involved the children and allowed them to be themselves throughout which was lovely to see.
When I ask my child's view of what she likes about preschool she says the manager and another member of staff so I think that speaks for itself!

We always say how glad we are that we chose this nursery for our daughter. Our daughter had a fantastic 6 months in the baby room and has settled into the toddler room so quickly in just a matter of a couple of weeks. The staff are so caring and you can tell they genuinely love what they do. They always
think of fun activities which constantly helps with their development. The wide variety of food she is given is also fantastic. It is nice to know that our daughter is in safe hands and has a great time when we drop her off. Thanks to the wonderful team.

Our son has settled so well at Holyrood Nursery. He has only been going for a few months, but we can tell he loves his time there. All the staff are friendly, and welcoming and have a genuine love and appreciation for seeing our son grow and develop. We can see the positive relationships that are developing,
even when being greeted at the door at drop-off. We are happy in the knowledge that our son is content, safe and well looked after. The activities put on and the food provided for the children are both excellent. Any communication with the office is responded to quickly and staff are more than happy to help with anything. We would definitely recommend Holyrood Nursery to anyone needing a safe, happy place for their child to learn and grow.

The staff in toddler 2 are amazing. Especially my daughter's key worker as she is always excited to see her key worker and play. All of the other staff are great too and it really is like a little family.
The meals are cooked fresh daily and always healthy and balanced. My mind is at ease knowing how
hard everyone works there to ensure that the children are happy. The activities are varied and educational too. Lots of outside time including meals outside when appropriate. And my daughter has also made a few friends. I can't fault anything.

We visited many nurseries before Holyrood and knew at our visit we had found the one. The Managers were really friendly, helpful and answered questions thoroughly. We liked both inside and the garden and activities offered. I was apprehensive about our daughter starting as she was 3 and not attended
a setting before. Her Key Worker was lovely during induction and put me at ease. I can only speak highly of Holyrood, the setting, Management and Pre-School, who work so hard and go above and beyond. They're professional, approachable and friendly. They do exciting activities and the online journal is really good at sharing what the children are doing. Email queries are dealt with quickly and efficiently and do anything they can to help and support. I really like the community feel, we attended Thelwall Walking Day with them and they've offered stay/play sessions, Jubilee parties etc. Our daughter loves her key and midday worker and has really come on since starting here, thanks to all! I wouldn't hesitate in recommending!

Our son has attended the nursery from Toddler 1, then Toddler 2 and now the sessional pre-school. We can't praise all of the staff enough for everything that they do for our son and all of the children. They really do go above and beyond. Our little boy is so happy and confident and loves going to preschool.
I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Also, the nursery manager has been brilliant every time I have had a question etc. Nothing has been too much trouble and she is very approachable.

We absolutely love Holyrood Nursery Warrington. My daughter started when she was 11 months old in the baby room and has recently started in toddler 2. All the staff and management of the nursery are amazing, they know every childs name and make you feel part of the Holyrood Nursery family. My daughter
loves nursery and it is such a weight off your mind as a parent, knowing that your child is in such great hands whilst you are at work. Cannot recommend them enough.

Finding the right childcare setting for my son was so important for me, I viewed the quays (now Holyrood) in early 2021 ready for him to start in the September and I fell in love with this nursery straight away. They pay attention to the detail, obtaining information about milk, naps, weaning, comforts,
interests etc and providing detailed handovers at the end of the day. My son is now in room 3 and he is thriving. The staff are incredibly supportive and friendly and we have regular updates via an online system on his activities via photos and videos. Needless to say fees have increased but feeling confident that your children are well cared for and educated is worth the price.

My child started his nursery journey here back in January 2022 and we were very apprehensive about leaving him in the care of others. However, there was no need to be worried at all as its amazing.
Since starting he has developed really well and that is down to the thorough staff there, who spend
time with each individual child helping them to thrive. He has a great relationship with all members of the nursery team and loves his days there.

Our son has attended the nursery since being eight months old through to now being three and a half years old. All of the staff are caring, enthusiastic and have created lovely bonds with my son during his time in each of the rooms.
We have been well-supported with our son's particular health needs
earlier on in his development and it was wonderful to know his key workers shared our excitement when he hit key milestones. Similarly, adapting the food to his needs was all included in the care he received.
We joined on recommendations from friends and in turn have recommended the nursery on to others too who have joined. I will be very sad when he has to leave!

My son started at the Quays in May 2021, as a lockdown baby/toddler. I was nervous and anxious about him joining, as this was the first time he would be away from me. These worries quickly vanished as he settled in brilliantly to Toddler 1. I had a meeting with his key worker who is amazing. They made
myself and my son at ease with the whole nursery process. The whole Toddler 1 team are just outstanding. He has recently moved up to Toddler 2 and they are just as amazing as Toddler 1. In fact, the whole nursery go out of their way to make you feel like one of the family. This is just a perfect nursery.

The Quays Day Nursery is really wonderful. As a family, we are coming to the end of our journey with The Quays, as our son is due to start school in September, but we really cannot thank them enough for the love, care, support and continued growth they have provided not only to our son but to us parents
too. All staff at The Quays are welcoming and professional, wanting the best for the nursery and the children they care for. The Quays also provide excellent facilities, daily activities and food menus. Such a fantastic team, that we will miss greatly when we leave to transition to school. Our son enjoys his time in Pre-school with all of his friends and more importantly, the staff who provide all of the fun on a day-to-day basis. The best provision we could have wished for. My daughter started with the Preschool shortly after her 3rd birthday. After lockdown, I was worried that she had missed out on vital interaction with other children. On her first day, she walked in and didn’t even wave goodbye. It’s been wonderful to watch her grow and learn and make friends. She has
the best time and loves every minute of her time there. The staff are amazing and made us feel like one of the family as soon as we arrived. The activities they provide each day vary and give my daughter so many new things to learn and do. They have been so accommodating with helping her, she’s potty trained but would forget to ask to go, so they worked with her to give her the confidence to ask. She’s really going to miss going over the summer holidays but I know that once September comes she will be so excited. The facilities are excellent and we are so pleased we chose to send her here.

My little boy started The Quays nursery in January of this year, and he’s our second child to attend this nursery. I wouldn’t have even thought about any other options, as this nursery is hands down the best. I was really apprehensive about my son starting nursery with him being so clingy and a mummy’s
boy, however, he loved it from day one with the help and support of all of the staff! My son's speech has come on massively and he can now count and recognise numbers, thanks to the staff at The Quays. I get daily updates and regular emails keeping me updated with information and upcoming events etc. I can’t thank preschool enough! The manager is so lovely and helpful, I phone her often with questions and nothing is too much trouble for her. I honestly cannot recommend this nursery enough! Brilliant team and brilliant service. My son has been attending the Quays nursery since he was 11-months-old and he is now about to turn 3! The care and support from every member of staff at this nursery have been amazing! My son loves going to nursery and tells us all about it when he comes home, he gets up to all sorts of fun whilst he's
there. The daily updates we get through the app and verbally are amazing and make you feel like you know what your child has been doing all day and how much fun they have had. Every staff member knows each child, regardless of what room they are in, which is lovely to see as they all take such interest in each child! His keyworkers have been fabulous in every room and have done activities specifically for his interests such as baking/kitchen play/pretend play etc and he has the best time! I would recommend this nursery to anyone who is thinking of enrolling their child to a nursery as it's just such a lovely nursery with amazing staff!

    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 number of registered child places is 13.6, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have over 20 years of experience working with children in a variety of roles with my most recent role being the Nursery Manager of a local Outstanding nursery.


I am already building strong relationships with our families and staff and already feeling a part of The Mere Family.


As a mum to a young family, I have a good understanding of juggling family life with a career as many of our families do.


I have a Btec National in Early Childhood Studies.
