Apples & Pears Private Day Nursery

My baby girl had never been left with anyone until she had to go to nursery. She started at 12 months old. I was so nervous about leaving her however my nerves were soon put to ease. The women in sandy strawberries are great. Her key worker made it extra easier for me and my daughter, always updating the app and making sure my daughter was okay. The first few drop-offs were hard but soon my daughter was putting her hands out to the staff, which made me so happy. She absolutely loves going to nursery.

My son attends Peaches Preschool currently, and we've been so fortunate that he has enjoyed the past couple of years at Apples & Pears. The nursery staff feel like an extension of our own family, as it is very clear that they always have the children at the heart of everything they do. During the past very challenging year, the nursery have had to make some very difficult decisions regarding the care of the children, but have been fantastic in communicating to parents and providing constant support for the children throughout. Staff have consistently kept their high standards of education for the children and specifically have helped the children understand the importance of hygiene. They have carefully and sensitively helped the children understand the changes in the world around them, underpinning everything with fun! As a parent, I have been so impressed by the team at this nursery; they have been absolutely wonderful in these unprecedented times.

Extremely happy with our choice of Apples & Pears after three years of care for our children. The staff are excellent, very caring, capable, friendly, always thinking of new ideas to keep the children entertained and exploring new things. We love the outdoor setting and the opportunities the children have to enjoy the surroundings as much as possible.

From the moment our daughter started at Apples & Pears over three years ago, we knew she was in safe hands and she would be cared for and nurtured in the most comfortable environment. The staff at the nursery are absolutely amazing and without their support and encouragement, we don't think our daughter would be the person she is today. Activities at each stage are fun as well as educational and are tailored to the age and ability of the children. We love it here as much as she does!

We viewed a number of local nurseries for our daughter but none compared to Apples & Pears, the standards and professionalism was visibly higher, not to mention the location and unique surrounding which we knew she would benefit from. From day one we knew we’d made the right choice, she loves going to nursery and has a fantastic relationship with the staff. We’re continually impressed with the care she receives and the progress she is making.

My little boy started in December 20, bearing in mind he'd only been with me and we'd had an extremely limited amount of baby groups and classes with covid - I was a little dubious about how soon he'd settle. However, the staff have made his experience so wonderful that he immediately settled! He cried as I left him (as expected!) but soon settled, even sleeping on the floor mattresses alongside the other children on his very first visit and had big smiles when I picked him up! He now walks in without even turning around, he's a very confident little boy and will make his feelings quite clear if he's happy/unhappy - I know he absolutely loves it here and looks forward to attending! The menu is amazing - each week is different and offers a huge variety of tasty meals - and puddings too! I arrive at different times and love to peek through the window to see what he's up to - every day he's been engaged in activity or playing. I'm kept updated with lots of pictures and updates through the online learning portal.

Since my son has started at Apples & Pears I can relax knowing that he is fully cared for and he has so much fun. He started during the pandemic so I was extremely anxious at the beginning as we couldn’t go in to settle them, however, it was clear that he was absolutely safe and well looked after from the beginning. It didn’t take long for the tears at drop off to stop which spoke a thousand words. I’m always worried that because he’s so little he can’t tell me if he likes something but I absolutely know he loves going to nursery. As a parent, I am always kept in the loop and told all about his day which is lovely! It’s very clear the staff at Apples & Pears really gets to know each individual child and really help to excel that little personality. My child is very energetic and crazy but he’s totally allowed to be who he is and all the ladies in his room comment on his personality - another way I know as a mum he’s very happy to be there. We love Apples & Pears!

Our 4-year-old boy has attended Apples & Pears nursery for the last 2 years and has progressed through each class having been very well cared for, genuinely loved by the staff and has excelled at his learning both educationally and socially. He is currently in the preschool class and is one of the oldest in this particular class. We receive really thorough feedback from the staff on collecting him at the end of the day as well as excellent updates on the online learning portal showing his participation with the other children and the new skills he has learnt. This month we were contacted very early on the Monday morning informing us that we had to isolate him from nursery and remain home for the following 10 days due to a Covid matter which was followed up with daily learning/play ideas which were very well planned and laid out, also asking for communication back to the nursery for their information. We received emails giving updates and advice on how to return safely. Fantastic, caring management team.

Our little girl started at Apples & Pears in September 2020, she was almost 3 and had never been left with anyone but immediate family - obviously due to the pandemic we were unable to settle her in as we would be able to in "normal times" but the staff have been fantastic with her, they're always doing great activities and we get a log (and pictures) each day of what she's been doing and what she's eaten. Wonderful nursery and great staff. Would recommend to anyone.

My child has been attending the setting for over 2 years now. The setting is extremely welcoming and engaging with children of all ages. My daughter looks forward to attending and has personally progressed in so many ways down to the staff that care for her while she is there. Nursery has been a very valuable part of her early years' education.

Myself and my husband had chosen Apples & Pears nursery for our son as we loved that the children aren’t just in a small environment with a little outdoor space. The children were out and about playing with plenty of room, the staff were interacting with the children and the children were incredibly happy and playful. Our son comes home and surprises us with the things he’s been learning at nursery, and we are really pleased with the photos and write-ups that we receive through the online learning journal each day he attends.

Apples & Pears are fantastic. My kids love going so much. I have had three under two and currently, they all attend the setting. They are so attentive and have helped my children learn and grow, I wouldn’t send them anywhere else. I’m a front line worker in healthcare and the dedication of the team at Apples & Pears has allowed me to continue to work providing essential services to the public throughout the pandemic. I can’t praise them enough. My children particularly like the sensory garden and the donkey who lives in the field behind!

Apples & Pears are an amazing nursery! The owner and staff go above and beyond to make sure your children are cared for to the best of their ability. I have peace of mind knowing that they are learning and have the best chance of developing, learning and being cared for there but they also allow your children to develop their character too. I wouldn’t send my children anywhere else.

My son started this nursery in September, despite having been to a previous and that closing it was a huge step for him. It was the first time he had attended since prior to lockdown and with the nature of circumstances around covid, it meant very little settling in periods particularly with me involved. This was difficult, however, these staff must be incredible because for my shy little boy to settle into somewhere so quickly without me being able to be a part, just having to drop him off, was amazing. It quickly became not a strange place for my son, he trusted his supporting adults and started to thrive. All worries were taken away from me and in place regular updates, photos and reassurance was given. I cannot praise and recommend this nursery enough! And it gives great pleasure to have the opportunity and to give recognition to how hard this place works with these children, it's wonderful and I thank you very much.

And I think she especially loves the food, we’re always told she eats absolutely everything put in front of her!

Apples & Pears is a wonderful nursery setting for my little boy. It’s very welcoming and the staff are excellent ensuring that the children are well cared for. The children are involved in lots of different activities including creative, messy and outdoor activities and the settings sensory garden allows the children to enjoy the outdoor space and to see some of the farm animals. The setting uses tapestry to showcase what the children have been doing and how they are developing which is really nice to receive.

Apples & Pears is a wonderful nursery. The staff are professional and friendly. Our 1&1/2-year-old son enjoys going and happily waves me goodbye in a morning. They do lots of activities and painting, and the food always sounds incredible.

Staff are very kind and loving to my son, they provide a fun and safe environment for him to learn and explore. I leave him knowing he is well looked after and he is safe and that he is comfortable there. He always eats well too! I get regular updates to what he has been doing. Very happy with the care provided and always recommend Apples & Pears to friends and family.
