Partou Curiosity Corner Day Nursery & Pre-school provides exceptional care and education for babies and children up to the age of five. The nursery has 'the curiosity approach' accredited and the setting is one of the most well-established nurseries in Southport, having been open for nearly 20 years.

Children at the nursery are prepared for school in a fun, inspiring environment led by highly qualified staff. Exciting learning activities are planned around each child’s unique interests and needs, and parents are included in this using an online learning journal.

A modern-day ‘curiosity approach’ is adopted in areas throughout the nursery, nurturing children’s sense of wonder using natural resources. Staff at the nursery are dedicated to inspiring curiosity and awe with this approach, creating the ‘thinkers and doers’ of the future.

Their childcare practitioners hold childcare qualifications, have safeguarding and paediatric first aid training and have all undergone enhanced DBS checks. CCTV and secure door entry systems provide added security for the nursery’s little ones.

15 and 30 free hour childcare places are available to eligible families, and fees include milk, nappies, wipes and sun cream. Fees also include the nursery’s delicious and healthy meals and snacks, which are freshly prepared in the nursery kitchen each day.

My daughter is two years old and has been at this nursery since she was nine months old. She was a very shy baby before starting here, the nursery has helped her come out of her shell a lot more now. This nursery goes above and beyond in what they teach children, as well as encouraging them to express
themselves through play. I would highly recommend this nursery. The staff are amazing, kind, pleasant and very understanding.

The Big Picture is a wonderful nursery setting. My little boy attended from 2019-2021 and my daughter started in September this year. The nursery is bright and clean and offers a variety of educational and creative resources. They follow the curiosity approach which aims to ignite children's natural
curiosity and encourage child-led learning. The outdoor space is also great for them to learn and explore. The food provided is varied and nutritious and goes down very well each day. My daughter is so happy and settled in the baby room. All the staff are amazing and feel like an extension of our family. It is a pleasure to take her in each day and a relief that she is so pleased to be there. I would highly recommend The Big Picture and wouldn't want to send my children anywhere else.

My son moved to The Big Picture nursery from another nursery and has absolutely flourished. The staff are fantastic, friendly, welcoming and always with a smile. The meals are fresh and nutritional. The nursery itself is a great place to explore for children, lots of nik-naks and general everyday items
to play with and learn about. Lovely outside spaces and always plenty of fun things to do and learn. I would highly recommend The Big Picture nursery to any family looking for a nursery or wanting to relocate their child/children

We love the Big Picture day nursery and preschool. We have both our children here and think the staff, settings and activities are all excellent. They provide everything we need for our children, all the staff are professional but friendly and personable too. They are a big family here and make the
children part of that family also. I love that this nursery integrate the children into the community, with regular visits to the care home where they will sing songs or bake with the residents. We are updated regularly on our children's development as well as daily updates on their day. We can see key parts of their week on the parents' app to document their journey in nursery. The food is varied and gives the children opportunities to try new foods. We love this nursery and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a care setting for their little ones.

Terrible, badly organised, unreliable. The staff have mostly left to terrible management, so constantly let parents down and closed with very short notice. Incorrect invoices and waiting months for a reply from anyone. I have had to remove my child which has been unsettling for her. I would never recommend
this nursery to anyone.

Firstly the girls are amazing. But very poor management. They have a horrible "acting manager" that seems to come and go as she pleases. Whom likes to speak to parents in a derogative manner. Recently closed last minute which is a nightmare. My child has been in 3 or 4 days this month which is not acceptable.
I understand staff shortages but better communication comes from above.
Management needs to take a look in the mirror as to why staff are leaving. Staff don't just up and leave so it's obviously issues with inept management. Food was freshly made but seems to no longer be that way. We have decided to pull our child out. This again has nothing to do with the core staff as they are left in the dark which at this time of year is heartless. This is simply down to poor management from above. The owners need to have a good look at how they treat staff and improve communication skills with staff and parents alike.

Unfortunate that I'm having to leave this review. As a 'non-resident' parent who wants to be involved in my child's life as much as possible, it's disappointing at the lack of communication I have received since my daughter started nursery. In an already difficult position, The Big Picture have made
the process no easier.
Working alongside a nursery myself I understand the importance of building healthy relationships with both parents, I also understand what amazing work nursery staff do on a daily basis and how busy it can get: however no update in over two months and counting... despite me attempting to make regular contact.

My son has been attending The Big Picture Nursery since January and he loves it. He has some additional needs and the nursery have been very good working with me and his dad to help him with some of his issues and he is thriving, we have already seen some small improvements within his social skills
and his attempts to speak. The staff are friendly and easy to speak too, the nursery is always clean and welcoming, and there are lots of things for children to engage with and use their imaginations.

Whilst being in lockdown my daughter really missed nursery, she kept talking about her friends and her teachers. Since being back it is has been lovely to see her so happy to be running in to see them all. She comes home every day bursting to tell me what she has been doing and who with. The staff

My daughter has just started nursery at 8 months old and we absolutely love the big picture. We looked around a lot of nurseries and there is no other like this in Southport. The personal touches for that tearful first day that you have to leave your little one for the first time really made me confident
I'd left her with the right people. Every member of staff is lovely and happy to reassure me every time I called. So happy I chose here and already I can see her development rocketing ahead.

Our daughter started at The Big Picture in December 2019 when she was 9.5 months old. As she is our first, the process was totally new to me and of course, I was a little anxious and sometimes upset about leaving her. However, all of the staff, especially her key workers, have been so supportive and
welcoming and this is reflected in how quickly our little one has settled into nursery. She’s really grown in confidence and has come on leaps and bounds in all aspects of her development.
The very calm atmosphere in the reception area is usually much needed after a very rushed morning of getting the 2 of us ready. We are always met by smiling faces and nursery staff that seem to really enjoy their job. Thank you for all you do!

All the staff are wonderful, they are so passionate about the children and their development, they know when something is up and their communication with both the children and us parents is excellent. The environment is wonderful with different areas for different sorts of play, there is lots of encouragement
for the children to try new things and the staff have so much imagination it really helps my little one to expand and grow.
