We have just had our second child and the team at Edwalton Day Nursery (Nottingham) have been amazing about preparing our first child for the change - from sourcing books about babies, new siblings etc to encouraging our child to talk about how he felt about the new arrival to producing artwork about
her. The staff have been great at helping us manage the transition - I've been really impressed and I am very grateful.

Both of our children love this nursery and have settled in well. They have food allergies which have been accommodated fantastically by the kitchen staff - nothing is too much trouble and every effort is made so that they don't feel left out. The teachers are lovely and all know everyone by name. Our
favourite part of the nursery is the garden - it's fantastic and the children get to spend lots of time out there.

I love the variety at this nursery. Staff are very experience and responsible to comments. Great outdoor space which I think is so important. I like the mixture of male and female staff, and that they are not all the same age!
The extra stuff like ballet and french lessons are fab and the trips to
the panto etc. are brilliant.
The flexibility with 'swap days' is very much appreciated.

Lovely nursery with great outside space and friendly staff. Would have liked to have seen more trips and special occasions e.g sports day, teddy bear picnic ect. where whole parties are involved.

Great place, my little boy loves going. He stands at the front door waiting to go every morning. It helps me with the difficult decision to return to work. I'm so glad he's happy.

My very shy daughter has absoloutley blossomed during the 6 months she has attended Edwalton. The staff are extremely kind, patient, engaging and fun. It is a very loving, warm daycare, and while there are lots of children, the care is individual and the personality of each child is embraced. Management
run a tight ship; it is a safe, very well run facility. We are extremely happy with the level of care our daughter receives and would recommend Edwalton highly.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.856 for Edwalton Day Nursery (Nottingham) is calculated as follows: ( (187 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 216 Ratings = 4.856
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Edwalton Day Nursery (Nottingham) is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 88 number of registered child places is 17.6, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

What is your favourite feature of Edwalton?
My favourite feature of the nursery is the outdoor learning environment and the woodland area.

What are you most proud of about your team/nursery?
When I walk around the nursery and hear all the high-pitched squeals and excitement from the children in the rooms, who are engaged in all areas of learning. My staff make me proud for making this more than a dream but a reality.
