We have two children at the setting and have experienced every room from the Baby Room right through to Early Years. They have all been excellent! The staff are clearly a close-knit team who put the care of the children first. They are always friendly, approachable and willing to go the extra mile to make sure that the children (and parents!) are happy. My oldest daughter loves the wow activities - she has been involved in creating a papier mache plane to Rio to celebrate the Olympics and a milk bottle iglo (which had to be seen to be believed!) for Winter! The food is excellent; they even persuade my picky eater to eat her vegetables - apparently they taste different at nursery! As parents we love the 'EY Log' which is a private and secure online account where the staff can share photos and videos of what your child is doing at nursery - it brightens up our day when we get a little green elephant notification ping up and we can see what they have been up to! Highly recommended!
We loved this nursery and knew it was 'the one' after visiting five others in the area, instantly. The Manager was so informative and put us at ease straight away. The atmosphere of the nursery is so unique. It is a home from home, friendly, yet professional place where I feel my child is 100% safe. The Manager runs a tight ship and is amazing at her job and it shows throughout the happy staff. I couldn't have asked for a better keyworker for our son. She is so talented with the children and has such an amazing relationship with him. He has developed far beyond my expectations because of her, with the help of the other staff. I cant express the positive impact this nursery has had on our son's life and development enough. It is the best money I have ever spent. Eternally thankful.
The facilities are excellent, staff are very friendly and helped with the settling in and continued care of my daughter. The food is great! I actually I wish I ate there! The Ey log app is another incredible positive. I love being able to see what my daughter is getting up to whilst I'm at work and follow her progress.
Amazing. Can't fault them at all. All brilliant. Wonderful with my son. All caring people, he learns so much, nothing to worry about.
Our daughter seems really happy at the nursery and has an excellent relationship with the staff. The managers are friendly and helpful. The nursery is small enough to have a real personal touch. The facilities always seem very clean. My daughter seems to enjoy the different activities, which are very varied.
The best nursery we had chance to use. Always flexible, friendly and understanding. Every child's diary is completed every day without fail. It provides important, detailed information. The nursery staff treat the children very personally and adjust to all their needs. Highly recommended.

My name is Kate Horsley, and I am the Derby Road Nursery Manager. I have worked for the company for just over 29 years. I started in 1995 when I joined as a trainee nursery nurse. Over the years, I completed my NVQ level 3 and then went on to do senior, deputy and management training. I am also the Nursery SENCO.
I have worked in several other Children's 1st Nurseries and have been set many challenges and given many opportunities to develop myself, constantly learning new things along the way.
As well as working full-time and running a thriving nursery, I am also a full-time mum to 3 young children. Amelia is 18, Alfie is 14, and Arthur is 10 years old. All of my children attend a Children's 1st Nursery and Out of School setting and love their time in them. I leave them feeling confident that the care they will get is as good as what I can provide for them.
I have only ever worked for Children 1st after joining when I left School. There has never been a reason for me to look elsewhere. I have always been more than satisfied with my own professional development and very happy in my job. I look forward to growing further within Children 1st and learning new skills which will help my team and me “Lead the Way & Shape the Future”
