Children 1st Newark Nursery School is situated very close to the A1 and A46, with good access to the town centre and train station.

The nursery has been refurbished throughout with designated areas for babies, toddlers, early years and children aged up to 12-years-old. It has a huge garden complete with fort, mud kitchen and woodland area for children to explore.

The children benefit from eating healthy food to help fuel the development of their young minds and bodies.

The nursery's friendly, enthusiastic staff are fully trained and very experienced. Child to staff ratios are lower than Ofsted requirements.

Children are encouraged to choose their own activity with a huge variety of options both indoors and outside in the garden.

The nursery offers funded places for eligible 2, 3 and 4-year-olds.

My daughter started at Children 1st at Breedon House in September 2017 when she was 6 months old. I was very nervous about her going to nursery so young, but we have not looked back! She wriggles with excitement when she gets out of the car on her nursery days and is always just as happy at the end
of the day. The staff are always warm and friendly and my daughter has a good bond with her key worker and the other staff in the baby room. My daughter is being encouraged and supported in her development and the staff are receptive to helping my husband and me in enforcing our daily routines as much as possible at the nursery.

Absolutely fantastic staff who really care for both our children equally - they are new to the nursery and have been really made to feel welcome and settled in well. Their outdoor facilities are second to none and my children love the activities they put on for them as there is always something different
to do!

Both of my children have been to Breedon House and have been really happy and settled there. My oldest is now at school but loves popping back to get her sister and seeing all the team and they are always happy to see her too.


The staff are lovely, caring and friendly and always have a lot of time

to tell you what your child has been up to and share in their achievements. I feel like they have got to know my children and their personalities.

My son has just started at the nursery here and so far really happy with everything. The staff are lovely, friendly and my son seems to have taken a shine to all of them already, which makes going back to work a lot easier. The facilities are really good and varied. And I can see as he gets older there
will be plenty for him to do and learn. The outside space is such a plus as not many nurseries in the area have this, and they have really put the outside area to good use. The food is really healthy and again a good variety for him. Super happy with this nursery and would definitely recommend it. They have made what could be a stressful time for all of us, a lot easier!

I spent a long time looking around nurseries when I moved over here. Children 1st @ Newark was the last one I viewed. Had it have been the first it would have saved me a lot of time! The staff are all so friendly and welcoming. There is always a senior member of staff on site. The facilities are very
good and the outside area is amazing. My daughter settled in straight away and regularly asks if she is going to nursery on a day when she doesn’t normally attend. The manager her team have been very accommodating when I have needed to book in extra sessions which has been extremely helpful. All staff have been amazing in assisting me potty train my daughter. It is an on-going event but we’re getting there! I would definitely recommend Children 1st @ Newark to anyone.

My daughter has settled quickly at Nursery, and enjoyed the last 8 months attending. She is always excited to go, and has lots of stories to tell us at the end of the day about her ‘busy day with her friends’. The concerns I had about her not settling for naps, or not enjoying the meals, were completely
put at ease by the staff and were not a problem! Her learning and development has been brilliant at Nursery. Would certainly recommend!

My son has been attending Children 1st at Newark since he was 9 months old and it's been so good for him, he was fairly clingy before he started nursery and now he extends his arms to the ladies to go to them when he gets there. The staff are lovely and he's never come home in a dirty nappy or in anyone
else's clothes (only clothes from the spares box when he's blown his nappy twice and gone through his spare set). Being a full-time working mum, it's lovely reading his book in the evening and seeing what he's done through the day, dancing with the ladies, hiding in the mirror den or rolling a ball to his friends. He's also well fed all day with lovely homemade food and it still ready for tea with his dad and I at tea time as they give them a small tea at about 3.
I also really like that the door has a secure keypad, it gives you peace of mind.

My little girl has been attending Children 1st @ Newark (Breedon House) since she was 9 months old and the staff have been brilliant at settling her in. Its great how the staff do a thorough run through every evening of what they have done/eaten/how many times been changed etc through the day.

Well, what can I say? This has to be the best nursery I have ever been to. Having 2 kids and a teacher myself I have never seen such an amazing environment for children to learn in. Everything is stimulating and inviting so much so my son is so excited to join in. The staff have all been fantastic in
every room - so caring and fun. The transitions between rooms have been smooth and seamless. The food always smells amazing and they have catered to my sons dairy allergy so well. I cannot recommend this nursery enough.

A fabulous nursery setting which has been second home to my son for over 2 years now. The staff are supportive and accommodating to every need of the child and parents. When I leave him in a morning he is happy and engages with the staff and other children from the first minute, my only problem is
getting him to come home at night. I can't really blame him, I would happily stay and play, the garden in particular, is full of interesting equipment and activities. They have given him a superb foundation on which I can only hope school will now continue to build on.

The quality of care provided at Breedon House has been consistently high throughout the years my daughter has attended. Staff are kind, understanding and go the extra mile. I will be sad this summer when my youngest child finishes with Children 1st, Breedon House. Both of my girls have been there from baby room to early years.

We moved our son to this nursery in December 2015 following moving house. We loved our old nursery and were sure we wouldn't find one as good, let alone better. We were very wrong. I literally cannot praise and recommend this nursery enough. They have taught our son great manners, skills and experiences,
all with an educational slant, but have nurtured his personality and character. They embrace the things the children are interested in, whilst teaching them great skills and instilling routines. The staff and facilities are exceptional and we will be so so sad to leave when my son goes to school in September. Thank you for everything guys, we love you!

My eldest daughter started here when she was 8 months old. She is now 3 1/2 years old and in the pre-school room. She loves nursery and has made some lovely friends along the way. The care she receives is excellent. The staff are always happy to help and let you know about your child's day. The diary
feature is a great way to communicate as well as the printed upcoming events we receive. The outdoor area for all ages is amazing and the space is just brilliant. All the rooms are bright and cheerful and are spacious. When I had my second daughter, I straight away put her name down so she got a place. She started at the nursery at 11 months old and is very happy. It is a little bit more expensive than other nurseries but when you see what you get for your money it's totally worth it. Everything is to a very high standard. Monthly invoices by email and an app for your phone to see your child's progress on is a lovely added touch.

The staff at Children 1st are fantastic. They genuinely care for your child and their communication is excellent. On my daughter's first day at nursery, I was given a picture collage of her day. Each day when I collect her, I am given a full run through of what activities she has done, all the food
she has eaten and whether she has enjoyed certain things.

This is a really well run nursery with a very consistent approach to the care and guidance the children receive. The staff are always friendly and approachable and the children are offered a really stimulating environment in which to learn. The outdoor play space is also vast and a real bonus. My children
continue to love the time they spend there.

Sophie Price

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2014

Hello, I’m Sophie Price, Nursery Manager at Children 1st. I first joined the company in 2015 as an apprentice and have loved every step of my journey since.


Over the years, I’ve gained both my Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications through our apprenticeship programme and worked across both nurseries in the Newark area. Each role I’ve taken on has helped me grow, develop new skills, and build lasting relationships with the wonderful children, families, and staff I work alongside.


One of the parts of my role I enjoy most is supporting my team to develop and succeed. Seeing practitioners grow in confidence, children flourish, and families feel truly at home in our setting is what makes this job so rewarding.


I’m passionate about making sure every child has access to high-quality childcare and meaningful early years experiences that set them up for the best possible start in life. I’d love to welcome you into our nursery to show you what makes our community so special.
