Hillside House Nursery is rated by Ofsted as "Requires improvement " (April 2025), it is just a short drive from Shrewsbury town centre and situated on top of the beautiful Lyth Hill with amazing views of the surrounding countryside.

At Hillside House they provide a happy, homely and stimulating environment for children aged between 3 months and 5 years. The staff are experienced, committed and passionate in providing an exciting environment for every child to thrive in. They have extensive grounds for the children to play and learn safely, including their very own on site Forest school area.

They pride themselves on their relationships with the parents, communicating daily and always welcoming feedback.

All rooms are catered for by age and provide the children with learning opportunities at all times. The onsite chef provides children's meals that are nutritious, delicious and well balanced.

They are fortunate enough to offer inclusive extracurricular activities such as Kickers football, Diddy Dance and Pyjama Drama.

We have two children at Hillside, one in their acorns room and one just finishing off in preschool. The team at Hillside helped settle them in really well after we'd moved them up from the south of England. They've been fabulous with catering for coeliac and dairy intolerances and it's so nice that
there's forest school, book bag day, trips to the farm, football, etc there as it gives the experiences they love. Couldn't rate it high enough - highly recommend.

My son has attended Hillside for the last 2.5 years, due to start primary school in September. It fills me with great sadness to leave this wonderful Nursery where I can’t praise the staff enough. Every day they have shown nothing but professionalism and excitement in their role. They always have time
to talk you through your child’s day, and I couldn’t ask for any more for the care they show. Communication is always extremely good through handovers and emails. My son has always enjoyed the food and his favourite thing is of course a football game, which has really increased his confidence. What they have on offer is way beyond what I ever expected from a nursery. Hillside very much feels like a family and our son, as well as us, will miss them very much and we can’t wait for our youngest to start!

I can not fault this nursery. My son has been there for just over three years. He has received the same high standard of care in each new room, from the baby room to pre-school. The management team are efficient and responds to any queries very quickly. They run a brilliant nursery. The outside space
is amazing, with so much room and different things to experience. I found throughout pre-school that there is a well-thought-out balance between fun/playing and developing for starting school. The very caring staff know my son so well, and he is as relaxed and as happy there as he is at home.

I have had two children go to Hillside and definitely plan to send my third! I have complete trust and faith that the manager and all of the team do their utmost to keep the children safe and happy. I have developed great relationships with staff here over the years and really feel they care so much
for the children and take all of their individual needs into great consideration. I am always recommending this nursery to people as we have always had such a great experience. Many thanks to all of the staff here who do a great job!

Our son attended Hillside from the age of 10-months-old and loved all of his first 4 years at the nursery from the baby room up to pre-school. He was incredibly happy here. We always felt comfortable leaving our son in the care of the staff at Hillside. All the staff are friendly and really do make

We love Hillside House! Our son moved to the Lyth Hill location last year having previously attended Hillside's second location; also fantastic! The move to Lyth Hill put us closer to home and means my son will likely move up to the local school with some fellow preschool buddies. The lovely team ensured
the transition went smoothly, even during a global pandemic!
My son is so excited to attend each week, and we love hearing the fantastic range of activities he gets up to each day from farm visits to imaginative play! The home-cooked food menu often has our mouths watering too! Staff have worked hard to ensure very little disruption has been encountered due to Covid, and we feel confident and well informed of the safety measures they have in place.
We know that over the next year Hillside will continue to nurture and support my son in his social and academic development ready for a very happy and successful transition to school in 2022.

My little girl attends Hillside twice a week, I would recommend the nursery to anyone looking for a nursery for their little one.
The nursery has such a homely atmosphere. Staff are amazing always going above and beyond, nothing is too much, the staff really get to know your child as an individual
from the start. My little girl comes home each week having learnt something new and always having had fun.
Definetly a 5-star nursery I can not fault it.

Responsive and quality care from a fabulous nursery. The staff care for our children by prioritising the development of a secure attachment. We have experienced some issues with our child’s diet - the nursery staff have worked with us to address these issues.

Such an amazing Preschool. My daughter totally adored Hillside from day one. The staff are all very friendly. I have never had to wait more than a few hours to hear back from any enquiry. The preschool does a variety of fun activities and it’s nice to hear all about them when collecting and via the
day slips.

My 3-year-old daughter has returned to Hillside recently after a year off. She has settled straight back in thanks to the support and nurturing of the staff. She is in pre-school 1 and leaves chattering away telling us all about her day.
We are extremely happy with this nursery. The outdoor space
is brilliant and the fact the children get to visit the farm next door is also great. It makes their time varied and interesting.
My daughter has also loved bringing home cookies and cakes that she has made for us as well as the various themed pieces of art.
The care provided is great and the meals and snacks that are provided mean it is one less thing that we have to worry about.
My eldest daughter went to Hillside nursery for 3.5 years and I am still as satisfied with it now, as I was then.
The whole team are great and nursery managers are always quick to respond and help when needed.
I would definitely recommend it.

We moved to the area from London 3 months ago. One of our concerns - among the many you have when you relocate your family to the other side of the country - was settling our son at a new nursery.
We needn’t have worried. Not only did he settle quickly, but he has thrived since starting at Hillside.
He’s more confident and happier. And probably better mannered too!
He is in pre-school 1. He loves the staff - I can’t say enough good things about them, particularly his key worker. They do so much with them and lots of it outside, including weekly trips to the local farm and on-site forest school. My son loves both.
At his previous nursery we had regular ‘I don’t want to go to nursery’ tears in the morning. Barring a day or two at the very start, we never have that anymore.
I would literally give this nursery 20 out of 10.
Thank you to all the staff. You do amazing work. Our little boy had a new sparkle thanks to all of you.

I can’t recommend Hillside enough. The staff are so warm, friendly and passionate about everything they do. I absolutely love the handovers at the end of the day and learning all about what the children did during the day. They have themed weeks and themed days such as crafty kitchen, forest school
and even trips to the local farm!
My daughter is in the baby room, she was a lockdown baby and had very little exposure to other children last year, hence I was very nervous about her settling. Turns out I had nothing to worry about, the only time she cried was when I picked her up early and she had to stop playing with her new friend!
I couldn’t wish for a better nursery. Thanks so much to all of the teams. The managers of the nursery will also always go out of their way to help you in any way they can.

Such a lovely nursery. Our daughter is in the Pre-School 1 room and absolutely loves it. The staff are so enthusiastic and really relate to the children well. They do a Welsh Wednesday and it is so lovely hearing our daughter coming home and telling us all about the welsh words she has learnt!

Hillside House is the most wonderful nursery. Our son has been coming here since he was 6 months old and absolutely loves it, the staff went above and beyond to ensure his settling in period was as smooth as possible. I have built a great relationship with the team and they're always happy to work with
me on naps/bottles/dummies or whatever transitions we're going through. I always feel so reassured while he is at nursery that he is busy doing a range of activities, I can see how much he has enjoyed his day when I collect him. They have a great variety of indoor and outdoor areas and they have different themes each week which they centre their days around. Hillside really fosters learning and development through fun and interactive play. Also, their menus are brilliant!

Our son attended Hillside after a not so good experience elsewhere - Hillside are amazing and I can’t thank them enough for making it such a happy place for my son to go to as well as making me feel so calm and involved in his journey. The setting is beautiful but it is without a doubt the staff that
make this place the best... every one of them cares for your child how you would like them to, and he wakes up every day so excited to see them, learn, play and have fun! The selection of activities on offer is incredible and food is always of a high standard! My son still remembers his teachers from The Oaks Room and the imprint they have had on him and is now loving life in The Preschool 1 room. It’s truly wonderful watching his skills develop and him grow and we couldn’t thank the Hillside team enough for all their hard work and input!

We visited a few nurseries before Hillside and we just knew this was the one, it’s in the most beautiful surroundings, and space they offer for every age group both inside and outside was notably more substantial than other places we visited.
The staff are wonderful, they have gentle confidence which
instantly puts you at ease, my little boy loves all of them, beaming with smiles when he sees them in the morning. They have a wonderful variety of activities including sing and sign and visiting the local farm. He always loves the food, which is homemade and fresh.
I would highly recommend Hillside, it has exceeded our already high expectations.

Our son has been going to Hillside for almost 2-years and I remember the first day he came home he had learnt the word 'door'. It was amazing to know he was learning things from day 1 and he's still continuing to.
All the staff are so friendly and easy to approach. When handing over they give you
a little slip (the handover) and on there is all that they’ve been up to and eaten, which I really look forward to seeing especially if Daddy has to collect him.
The food is always really great, a big thank you to the chef for always putting a great menu up and, if ever our son hasn’t eaten much or doesn’t like anything in particular, they’ll always make him a sandwich or alternative so he never goes without, there’s always fresh vegetables and fruit provided too
I love how enthusiastic the staff are and the management are always there when you need them and they are very efficient.
Our son, and us, will really miss Hillside when he leaves to start school next year. A big thank you.

Hillside is an excellent nursery with a great blend of being educational as well as homely. Both our children love the nursery setting and can’t wait to get in the car every morning. What makes Hillside stand out is the staff, each one cares about the children they look after and provides the best care.
We really cannot fault Hillside House Nursery.
