Hillside House Nursery - Lyth Hill

I've used Hillside Nursery for 3.5 years but it has declined in the past 12 months. Communication is poor-newsletters are inconsistent, emails often not received, and events are shared late. The app provides little info, though practitioners give good handovers. Practitioners are caring and passionate, but management is the issue. There's heavy reliance on agency staff with no clear recruitment for permanent roles. Concerns are handled poorly, often with excuses, and management can be patronising. A serious safeguarding issue was not reassuringly addressed, and the staff member involved was later promoted. Invoices are frequently incorrect or missing. The nursery is clean and safe with a good range of activities, but learning for preschoolers (like phonics and numbers) has stopped. I once recommended this nursery but no longer can-I trust the practitioners but am tired of constant issues with no real improvement.

I highly recommend Hillside House Lyth Hill to any parent looking for a loving and supportive place for their child. It has been a fantastic experience for us so far. Three members of staff have all be very caring and supporting, thank you.

My daughter has absolutely loved her time at Hillside. From the age of seven months, she has always looked forward to going. I look forward to sending my next there.

We saw a few nurseries and Hillside was head and shoulders above the rest, couldn’t be happier with them and our little boy agrees.

The staff here go above and beyond, my little boy loves it and always comes home so happy and content. It has a real family feel and I feel so lucky that my boy has been able to attend such a top-quality setting!

My child loves going to nursery, she gets excited when she sees her key person. She is always met at the door with a smile and hug. The staff there are very caring and always give me detailed feedback. I am confident leaving my daughter there as I know she is safe and happy. The manager has a lovey caring nature and always meets us when we go and pick our daughter up from nursery.

Overall my son was happy, safe and had lots of fun.

Over the past two years we’ve had an absolutely outstanding experience. A great variety of activities are planned and prepared for the children every day from outdoor forest school to crafty kitchen, messy play, various unique learning activities and football. It’s been lovely seeing the progress in the little pieces of art (or occasional baked goods) received at the end of the day. The staff come across as caring and knowledgeable. Our child has developed a lovely bond with staff and children and is happy and settled. As parents the confidence we have in the staff gives us peace of mind that our child is educated and looked after well throughout the day. Communication has also been great. We can thoroughly recommend this setting!

I cannot recommend Hillside enough!

My daughter attends pre-school at Hillside House Nursery twice a week and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a nursery. My daughter always comes home very excited to tell me everything she’s done that day and the staff go above and beyond to make it a lovely place to be. She especially enjoys the Kickstars session they have once a week.

Many thanks from the heart for all your hard work, love, dedication, and patience to the children, and for keeping personal belongings in order (toys, clothes), helping with potty training, caring when they were not feeling well, making everyday a fun environment to go to which was also very important. My son went here in 2016 and following the nursery he has achieved great results in his learning development. Currently my daughter went here too, just because I knew how amazing everything and everyone were I decided for her to go here even though it wasn't right in our catchment area. The staff are absolutely amazing and I can't thank them enough for everything they've done for my children. The nursery manager has been working here for a very long time and she has got lots of experience and is always able to help or answer any questions you may have. It was a real pleasure that my children were part of Hillside House Nursery. A big thank you to everyone at Hillside especially to the manager.

Both of our children have attended the nursery starting from 2016 through to current. They have both enjoyed a variety of experiences such as Pyjama Drama and Kickstars to onsite 'Crafty Kitchen' sessions (which include a mix of baking and crafts) as well as a Forest School equipped with a mud kitchen, digging patch and more. The staff always greet you with a smile and often give a personalised handover at collection time of the various activities that have been available for that day while using an app to keep you updated on other things such as food, nappies, sleeps and monthly photos, with the food being homemade onsite. The outside space is fairly extensive with purpose built play equipment which has been an important aspect for both our girls over the years to burn off all their energy! The eldest often tells us she would like to come back as a teacher in the future!

Our daughter has been with Hillside since she was 1, and is currently in preschool 2. Since day one we have been delighted with Hillside House Nursery - Lyth Hill, the staff are amazing and the children are never bored due to the variety of activities they do. We always recommend Hillside to anyone who asks!

The outdoor space is also fantastic, and my son has especially loved forest school. The meals always get a thumbs up and we will have lots of lovely memories thanks to Hillside. Thank you!

I will be sad when my son goes to school and we no longer get to come to this lovely place. I have no hesitation recommending Hillside to other parents looking for a nursery.

My daughter has been at Hillside House Nursery - Lyth Hill since the end of November 2022 and is thriving. As she had only just settled at a nursery in London, we were nervous about how she would adapt, but thanks to the wonderful staff she has settled really well. She is learning lots of wonderful signs and skills and we are very pleased we chose Hillside.

Fantastic nursery, cannot think of anywhere else I would want my child to attend. The staff are excellent, continually going above and beyond for the children. They are passionate about their jobs and never make you feel like anything is too much trouble.

We have had a wonderful experience of Hillside House Nursery, our child has attended since he was 11 months. We have complete faith in the staff in every room, their attitude and expertise towards the children is second to none. In every room we have felt well supported and informed about our child’s progress and development as well as day-to-day activities. They have fantastic outdoor space, forest school facilities and food choices. There is also a lovely nurturing feel to the nursery and my son has developed some lovely relationships with the teachers over the 4 years he has attended. We have booked our second child to start next year, I would recommend this nursery to anyone.
