Sandhills Day Nursery Alvechurch is situated in a grand, spacious, converted white house overlooking stunning views of rolling fields in the heart of Alvechurch. The nursery is the perfect setting for parents looking for a local village nursery bursting with opportunities to help their children flourish. The nursery offers exceptional care, enriched by unique learning opportunities for your child. One such experience is child-friendly cooking classes, helping to equip children with valuable skills and deeper knowledge of the cooking process.

A spacious nursery providing a home from home setting for children to play, learn and explore. Upstairs is where their babies start and as children become more mobile and active, the rooms downstairs lend themselves to encouraging children’s curiosity inside and outside of the nursery.

The nursery was newly renovated in June 2020; it maintains its unique home from home feeling whilst providing children with a natural, light and spacious environment.

Outside, the nursery has two secure, enclosed gardens, each providing children with different learning experiences. The top garden, fully equipped with a mud kitchen, logs, tyres, bits of tubing and much more, allows children to explore and develop their imaginations through their exploration of expressive language and creativity. While the bottom garden lends itself to supporting children’s gross and fine motor skills.

I couldn’t recommend Sandhills Day Nursery enough. The staff are all so friendly, so caring and attentive to the children and my son has settled in perfectly over the last year and never wants to leave when I pick him up. He has come on so much in the last year and takes part in so many activities and
things, such as welly walks to the lanes to see the sheep, forest school, music time and lots of crafts and he always comes home to tell us what an amazing day he has had.
The app is perfect in informing me of everything that is happening daily, down to when he has been to the toilet, to what he has eaten for dinner and how much.
Would definitely recommend this nursery to anyone looking for a home-from-home style nursery setting for their child.

The staff at this nursery are so friendly and my son absolutely loves everyone there. He has been so happy here - all the way from the baby room to pre-school. We will be sad when he has to leave to go to school!
They do lots of fun activities with the kids, including a lot of outdoor time. This includes
music and forest school sessions and a recently added athletics class. They update the app every day so you know everything you need to. Management is helpful and approachable and know the children really well. Overall, we have had a great nursery experience with Sandhills Day Nursery and will always recommend.

My little girl has settled in so well at Sandhills! Everyday she comes out so happy telling me about the fun things shes done and chatting about the lovely staff and her friends. The staff are very approachable and reassuring if I ever have any queries!

My son attends Sandhills and has been there since he was 9 months old. He is always excited for his days at nursery and is eager to tell me what he has been up to when he gets home. The staff are all so welcoming and keep me informed and up to date with everything that's going on. Management are always
on hand if I have any queries. The outdoor space is beautiful, I would highly recommend this nursery!

Our two year old has been attending Sandhills three days a week since they were twelve months and it's been an amazing experience throughout. The baby room staff are so amazing and do so many great activities. They always listen to our little one's needs and respond to them. We feel very comfortable

My 3-year-old and nearly 2-year-old both attend Sandhills Day Nursery Alvechurch, and we couldn’t be happier with how well they have settled in since April.
Each and every staff member is so kindhearted, welcoming and knowledgeable; I never worry for one moment when my boys are in their care.
One
of my boys does need additional support, and I am so impressed that Sandhills has an incredible Senco and Key Worker that are able to understand what works for him. I really wish I had put my children into this nursery sooner; they are honestly the best children’s care providers in Alvechurch (trust me, we’ve tried them all!).

The care is excellent, and my son loves being at the nursery. The newly refurbished bottom garden is great and has exciting new things added regularly.
Fees continue to be challenging to manage, especially with two rises in the last year.

Our child absolutely loves it at Sandhills. We always get a warm welcome when dropping them off and a real family feel, as everyone knows their name and says hello. He has come on leaps and bounds since starting, developing really well, eating a great variety of food and always taking part in lots of

Great nursery and friendly staff, both of our children have attended the Alvechurch setting and have thoroughly enjoyed their time there. Communication is good between the nursery and parents, and the app used to send through updates is also great. Highly recommend!

Sandhills Day Nursery has been great in accommodating my little girl. I was very nervous for her to start, but all staff, including the managers, have been so reassuring and helpful! I feel very happy leaving my child with them each week.

Overall, we are happy with the variety of activities carried out at the nursery. The staff in our class have been great to assist the little one in settling in.
Potentially an improvement could be around communication (specifically for emails to be answered more promptly when an enquiry is being made).

Excellent staff and all-round care.
I cannot fault this nursery in any way. All staff are approachable and always make an effort to engage with my daughter, and not just her own key workers.
My daughter is happy every day and is developing so well. Her key workers make the environment fun and happy
and always create fun learning activities.

Sandhills is a very unique and special place. My little boy has attended since he was 13 months old, and he is now nearly 3 years old. He thoroughly enjoys it. Even though the nursery is corporate, it has a family feel. The staff work so hard, and I feel like they genuinely care about the children.
They are always playing outside, which I absolutely love, whether they are in their puddle suits and wellies or playing with the water sprinkler in their swimming costume in the warm weather. I'm expecting a second child, and they have been amazing with reading sibling books with him and practising feeding a pretend baby, which shows how they provide individualized care. I have honestly had no issues. I've experienced good communication throughout. They provide good healthy meals, which my son has always eaten well there and enjoys their activities. The children sometimes play on the field after nursery, which is a nice opportunity to speak to other parents.

This nursery is ok. It has a sign saying Ofsted outstanding but I struggle with this. The staff care for children, that is evident, however, there is much to improve on:
- better app updates throughout the day of your child’s day.
- better pick up handover. At a basic level you expect your child
to be “fine” (the most commonly used word at pick up) but more detail on what they’ve done in the day.
- better use of garden/field space.
- better communication of upcoming events and enough notice for parents.
- better response on emails. Some enquires should be the same-day response.
- management needs to manage and spend less time covering rooms. This would free up time to reply to emails/answer the phone and plan ahead.
- keyworker handovers are not communicated as well as they come to be.
Accepting that’s a lot of feedback, the nursery offers a good level of care, and the children seem happy. However, there are common areas that should be addressed to make the experience better.

The setting is lovely. Nursery workers are good with the kids. The biggest issue is the billing. The invoices are baffling and really difficult to work out to see if they are correct. The fee structure has changed so much since my kids started that we can't compare with the old invoices.
The nursery
also changed the parenting app. The app isn't as good as the old app. We have missed information because of the way it comes through on the app.

Sandhills provides a safe, happy, secure environment for my 4-year-old. I leave him there, knowing he will be well looked after and his individual needs attended to. The staff are wonderful, and there is excellent staff retention, which speaks volumes. Since being taken over, there have been some issues
with communication re-finance, which have recently been resolved. I cannot fault the on-site local manager and team, who are very responsive and proactive. It is clear that all the staff genuinely care about the children. Despite all the Covid challenges, the staff put on a fantastic nativity play for the preschoolers.

Hello, I'm Bev and I'm the Nursery Manager here at Sandhills Day Nursery Alvechurch. I am qualified NNEB, Management Level 5, PFA.


We have a caring staff team, who are dedicated to ensuring our children have the best start in life. They create strong bonds with the children and their families so we have an all-inclusive environment for the children to develop their own unique personalities. We are where the adventure begins and the fun never ends.
