The Review Score of 9.8 (maximum of 10) for The Co-operative Childcare Swindon Hospital Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 39 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Co-operative Childcare Swindon Hospital Nursery in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 34 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Day Nursery / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Day Nursery receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.813 for The Co-operative Childcare Swindon Hospital Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (386 Excellents x 5) + (73 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 466 Ratings = 4.813

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Day Nursery to friends and family?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Co-operative Childcare Swindon Hospital Nursery is based on 34 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 13.6 positive Reviews (68 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 34 Reviews ÷ 13.6 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

The staff are always friendly and happy, they make me feel at ease and my child is always happy to be going to nursery. The staff are great at encouraging early years development and have introduced lots of new ways to help the children in ways which are fun.
The Co-operative Childcare Swindon Hospital Nursery have always gone the extra mile to help accommodate and I can honestly recommend to anyone!!

Such a lovely nursery! Being an anxious mum, I am put at ease from the minute I step into the nursery, the whole team are lovely and always smiling. My son has come on leaps and bounds in his socialising skills and much more. It is clear that the children are the upmost important to all the carers involved and I'm so glad and grateful for all they do. I couldn't have asked for a better nursery. He has loved it from the start (9months now 3) and plus it's only over the road from my work so can be there in an instant if ever needed.

It's a great nursery. The car park can be slow to enter if you don't have a hospital pass, but care and learning for the children are the most important things and this nursery does that extremely well. I highly recommend this nursery to friends and family.

My son has been at the nursery since he was 9 months old and he will be going to school this September. We are very happy with the nursery. You can feel a personal touch as all girls from the nursery know a lot about my son and it helps a lot with his learning development. I would recommend this nursery 100%.

I couldn't recommend this nursery enough. After a long time thinking about the childcare provisions within the area and extensive looking around at the nurseries in Swindon, I stumbled upon this nursery and I was really impressed with how informative they were on the telephone, as with any first time parent I was sick with nerves leaving my child, but they were fantastic and they really reassured me and didn't make me feel stupid that I was feeling this way.
My child is now in the pre-school room and has gone through all the rooms. My child has developed well in all areas of development and I feel this is down to the staff in the nursery.
There is a welcoming vibe from the entrance of the nursery right through to the kitchen. Everyone is always happy and shows an interest in my child. I feel these girls at the nursery are another part of our family as they have been a massive part in my families lives.
I could not thank them enough for the memories they have created!

My daughter is 17 months and enjoys being in nursery. She is well taken care of and well fed too. We had a phase where my daughter would not eat at all, but she has overcome that with the help of her lovely staff. The team are easy to approach and help resolve any concerns.

My son has been attending the nursery for nearly 6 months now and he loves it, it's very comforting to know he actually wants to go in the mornings when I'm at work. The nursery was fantastic helping him settle in and made a picture collage for me of his first day as they knew that I was feeling emotional going back to work. The activities they do are extremely varied and my son has come on leaps and bounds. The food is great too, the menu is very varied and the food looks and smells lovely too. The management team are lovely and are really approachable, I feel confident that the nursery staff are in wise hands.

A fantastic nursery with warm and helpful staff who helped my 22-month old enjoy a year of fun and games.
We only left because my job moved and both of us miss it daily.
A wonderful purpose built nursery, with excellent catering, and all the facilities you would expect - but the thing that makes it are the staff.
They always give a daily handover and seem to genuinely enjoy what they do.

All the staff are friendly, welcoming and show professionalism and care to all the children. My son loves going and we'll miss it when he goes to school in September this year. The food provided is brilliant and a good variety. The learning and development skills my son has gained is amazing. He enjoys listening to the staff reading and loves to play in the garden, especially bike riding.

I am very impressed with the Co-op Nursery at Great Western Hospital. My daughter was there for 2 years and is now at school. I didn't have any hesitation sending my son there when he was 11 months old.
He has a cow's milk allergy and I went in to speak to the manager and they were more than happy to accommodate his needs, even having dairy free ice cream there on occasion. He has now started having some dairy products to try to re-introduce him and I have spoken to the cook who is happy to listen to me about what he can and can't have.
When I drop him, I don't get a backwards glance from him as he goes into his room and is immediately settled and playing.
I can't recommend this nursery highly enough, they treat every child individually and bring the best out of them.

I have two children who attend this nursery, and both of them enjoy going. The nursery is a little limited on outdoor space, but they have mode the most of what they have got, and they encourage the children to go outside as much as possible. The children have access to a whole range of toys and games and different activities are always being arranged to encourage them. It is a really friendly environment and the staff have been very welcoming and flexible and really worked with us and listened to us and our individual requirements.

When I moved to the area I struggled to find a nursery that matched my old one in terms of food provided and cleanliness of toys etc. The Co-operative meets all my expectations and I feel very content when my children are there. They provide a full cooked on site food service that is very hearty and healthy. They have a great outdoor all weather garden so mud isn't as much of an issue.
All the staff seem genuinely happy when they see my children (I have twins) and they care about them too which is lovely to see.
I do wish that they would allow a certain amount of time that you can take your child out e.g for holidays when you are not charged, that is my only negative. My old nursery allowed 10 days in the year that you could take your child out without paying. However, not all nurseries follow that.
I think it is the best in the area and you won't be disappointed.

My little boy started at the Co-operative Childcare Hospital Nursery in Swindon on my return to work from maternity leave. It was very hard to leave my little one but the staff at the nursery were and continue to be fantastic. They made the transition a lot easier and my little boy loves his days at nursery.

The atmosphere in the nursery is great. It is a very Lovely place. The staff is very nice always happy to help, well presented and attentive. Staff seem caring and knowledgeable always happy to help. Kids always seem happy around the staff, busy doing things and enjoying themselves, kids seem well controlled and with good manners. The outdoor area is wonderful, my son loves it and it is a great space for them to play with each other. It is great the importance of food and nutrition that the nursery applies and the idea to increase 5 a day with free fruit for kids to take home is excellent. It would be nice maybe some time to do world food and ask parents if need help getting a recipe together.

My daughter has been at Swindon Co-op from 1 years old and will be graduating from preschool this year. Throughout her time at the nursery staff have given her excellent care and attention and showed genuine interest in her. She has learned a great deal and staff have made every effort to support any learning needs I have highlighted. I believe the nursery has given her an excellent start to socialising; varying her diet, and learning.

Nurturers that quite easily become part of the extended family. The care they demonstrate for the wellbeing of the children is simply amazing. It always heartfelt and real.

The activities they coordinate are varied, never ending fun and educational. The daily updates at the end of the day are a great comfort to parents who work but still like to feel involved. We're always met with smiles and always feel welcome - I never fear asking any question regardless of how silly or small it is.

Also recently with my child's underlying development concerns the time, consideration, support and guidance we're receiving is making a huge difference to our family life - I know now that we're not alone. Which helps when you're wider network is limited. I often tell family and friends of my nursery experience and the reaction is always the same - annoyed that they don't have any in their region which is sad - as every child should be allowed to be placed in a magnificent environment like mine.

My daughter had a lovely time at this nursery. Notably down to a handful of carers. She was looked after and encouraged to be her best.
The downside was the disorganisation of admin matters where I had to ask three times for a particular payment plan, which were ignored and things were forgotten quickly. Emails got lost. In the end, I couldn't be sure that things would get done unless I did them myself.
Overall though I felt happy leaving my little girl there and knew she was happy.

All staff at the Swindon Hospital Nursery are very welcoming, friendly and very approachable. My daughter has now been going for a year and she has come on leaps and bounds with all the activities and socialisation that goes with the nursery so much so she doesn't always want to come home when I go to collect her - to me that says a lot and is a credit to the nursery of how comfortable, confident and familiar she is with the staff and fellow peers. I haven't got one fault with the nursery and would highly recommend it. It's the best thing I have done and made going back to work a lot easier knowing my daughter has brilliant care.

My son loves the nursery and we are very very happy with all that happens there. All the staff in his room are fantastic, friendly and approachable.
Our son also, for a few months had some dietary requirements and the support to accommodate that was fantastic.
My only negative is that the nurses get early drop off, I wish that the other services could have that as my partner is in the police so the 8:00 start is too late and we have to find someone to drop him off.

Apart from that, fantastic and I couldn't fault it at all.

The team at Co-op Swindon are amazing. They really go the extra mile to settle children and get to know them. I'm confident that all the staff know my boys (age 1 and 4) and will do their best to care for them and educate them creatively, whilst minimising my stress! In addition, the meals are good and nappies and other personal care products are provided making parents' lives easier. I would highly recommend this nursery-my boys love it.

My eldest daughter started here after we moved, at her previous setting she was very quiet, within 2 days she was standing up doing show and tell in front of everyone, something she would never have previously done. She is now at school and I had no hesitation in sending her little sister when she was 9 months old and she absolutely loves it too. All the staff are excellent with the kids and parents too. I would and have recommended the nursery to other people.

I had to change nursery when my daughter was 3. She'd been at her other one since she was 14months old, so I was worried about moving her. My fears were unfounded; she settled in pretty much immediately. The staff are all wonderful with her. They deal well with her 'spirited' personality and she has flourished there. We are amazed every week by new things she has learnt. It's a fantastic place which she loves. We'll be very sad when she leave for school in September!

I have had two children pass through the nursery in each age class. Both have very different personalities and needs and the nursery has gone above and beyond every day to give them fantastic learning experiences and have fun in the process. The staff are all so friendly and approachable and could not fault any of them in any way. Children are always well fed and come home telling me stories of all they have done and the friends they have made.

We went and looked at over 5 Nursery's in the Swindon area and even though The Co-operative Childcare Swindon Hospital Nursery was a little out of our way, we are extremely impressed from the start with the attitude and friendliness of the staff, the rooms and outside area and how happy the children appeared. Our daughter has now been there for nearly two years and has been in three of the four rooms, all the way from a baby to a happy 2 and a half year old. I credit the nursery with how rounded our daughter is. She loves going and her key member of staff in each room has been brilliant. All the staff from the kitchen to the front office interact and are interested in the children, both in terms of their development and having fun. I couldn't recommend this nursery more if you want peace of mind when you're having to go to work.

This is my son's first nursery and he went in from the age of one. From the beginning, the staff have all been amazing starting with the taster sessions a few months ago. They were extremely accommodating and really helped him settle in. Since going full time, he has loved going to this nursery and his daily reports have made interesting reading. The management and staff are always welcoming and personable making the process in the early days much easier. He has now settled into his room, which has loads of activities indoors and outdoors which he loves and they are all well suited to a young boys needs. The menu and food are excellent and he is defiantly getting his fill during the day (I'm having to up my game at home!!). There are no hidden costs, his food and nappies are all included. I would highly recommend the Nursery, and it's been a pleasure to send my boy there.

Being a first-time mum leaving my baby was quite scary. The staff in the baby room were all very good and made me feel comfortable with leaving him, I like having the review when I pick him up, by knowing what he has eaten, slept and played with. There's a good variety of food at meal times. He has learnt lots of new things and got lots of new interests through playing with all the toys and activities. The variety of toys in the garden, outdoor space is also good too.

I have had 2 children attend this nursery and they both love it. They always have taken part in a range of activities. The staff have always been very supportive and offer advice when required. They are always happy to talk through any concerns and my girls have had a wonderful relationship with all that have looked after them. The food is always good too.

This is an outstanding nursery - my daughter is now in the pre-school room having been at the nursery since she was under a year old. My daughter loves the nursery and is always keen to go and be with her friends and take part in the activities - she's happy and so I am happy.

I am particularly impressed with the management team as they are currently dealing with a crisis (out of their hands) where a suspected gas leak has meant that they currently have no heating or the ability to cook meals, but they have risen to the challenge hugely - the children are warm and still get their hot dinners - as far as my daughter is concerned there is no problem at all. (In addition to which we have been kept informed of the situation)

As a mother with a disability (deaf) I have also been very pleased with their methods of staying in touch with me as I do not use the telephone - email and text is not a problem at all - I have always been made to feel welcome and can chat with any member of staff about any issues I might have.

I truly recommend this outstanding nursery - I know that my daughter will miss it when she starts school this September.

Last summer I knew nothing whatsoever about nurseries or preschools, or even whether they were the same thing. Having just moved to Swindon, I had the task of organising a nursery place for my daughter to start in the September, so I began ringing around. Some of the nurseries I spoke to seemed rather shocked at the idea that I would be applying for a place so late in the day (as if I had a choice in the matter), while others dismissively said they'd put my daughter's name at the bottom of their very long waiting list. Then I called the Cooperative Nursery, which is conveniently placed next to the hospital where my partner was working, and they could not have been more helpful. They got a place sorted out that very day, answered all the silly questions I had about how everything from payments to pick-up times worked, and arranged a visit for us to look around. As she was unused to being left anywhere without me or her mum, the staff at the nursery encouraged me to stay and play for a bit during the first few sessions whilst she got used to the place; to be honest, I needn't have stayed after the first one, as she settled so quickly. By allocating one of the staff as a 'key person' for her, it was clear that my daughter very quickly felt at home, and always had someone to go to with her problems.

As the year progressed, I would regularly get to hear about how she was progressing at nursery. Despite how busy pick-up and drop-off times could be, the teachers always had time to share a quick word about the kids and how they'd got on each day, and on top of that we periodically received reports on her development relative to the standards expected for her age group. The food provided in the afternoons was fairly simple, but sufficiently varied to ensure that she would stop playing long enough to eat something most days.

As an aside, I genuinely think that the staff deserve some kind of medal for the combined hours that they must have spent applying suncream over the summer months; every day when I dropped my daughter off one of the teachers had the bottle, and they were scrupulous about ensuring that none of the kids went outside without proper protection from the sun (or rain - this is the UK after all).

When the time came to say goodbye, and all the leavers had trooped up in their gowns and mortar boards to collect their certificates (with varying degrees of aplomb), I felt nothing but gratitude to the wonderful staff at the nursery who gave me a few valuable hours to myself each week; and who had made both myself and my daughter feel so welcome. If the teachers at her new school are half as good as the ones we've left behind, we will consider ourselves very fortunate indeed.
