  • Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-school, Swindon, Swindon
Little Pioneers Swindon is a purpose built, modern nursery which is all on one level with large, bright and airy rooms and their supportive practitioners make Swindon feel like one big family.

They have an app, ParentZone, which keeps parents/carers informed about life at nursery with photos from their day, meals eaten, assessments and even toilet training progress! They have 5 Little Pioneers who help share their core values with children such as encouraging them to express their feelings to taking care of the world.

They are big on happy children which is why they have areas for growing food (and eating it), regular visits to local care homes and take care of each other and the world. They are silver eco schools accredited, a programme that sees children lead the way in making little changes that deliver big environmental differences.

They are also big on safety which is why ALL their staff are paediatric first aid trained.

At Little Pioneers Swindon Hospital Nursery there are four age appropriate spacious rooms, nought to one-year-olds, one to two-year-olds, two to three-year-olds and three to five-year-olds. All rooms have direct access and 'free flow' into the secure garden area. Each room is self-contained with a sleep room, nappy and toilet area and a milk kitchen for younger rooms.

Couldn't have found a better place to send our daughter to Nursery. I was very nervous going back to work what with the change to routine and feeling sad that I wouldn't spend as much time with her, but I couldn't rate every staff member highly enough, they have made her transition so seamless and have
genuine love and care in everything they do. My daughter loves every staff member and I couldn't be happier.

We have been extremely happy with this nursery and the care our son receives here. From the very beginning (since 9months old), the staff have been warm, welcoming and genuinely invested in his wellbeing and development.
The team create a nurturing environment where children feel safe, supported and
encouraged to explore. The activities are varied and engaging, with a lovely balance of structured learning and free play. We've seen real progress in his confidence, communication and independence since starting.
Communication with parents is excellent - we are regularly updated about his day, achievements and any concerns. The staff are approachable and always happy to discuss how things are going.
What stands out most is how well the practitioners know each child individually. They are patient, kind and responsive, which gives us great reassurance as parents.
We're very grateful for the care and dedication of the whole team and would happily recommend this nursery to other families.

Our experience with the nursery has been fantastic since our child started. The transition period was handled with so much care, which really put our minds at ease as parents. The staff are consistently professional, warm, and genuinely engaged with the children's development. We've noticed a significant
boost in our child's social skills and confidence over the last month. We couldn't be happier with the level of care and communication we receive.

Weve been with Little Pioneers for approx 3 years now and have never had any issues at all. All practioners are very professional, excellent communication across the entire nursery staff and very well aligned with the English Curriculum.
It was a no brainer when we were choosing a nursery for our second
child.

My 16 month old son walked into nursery this morning, stopped briefly for a cuddle with one of his key workers, and then went off to play happily. Seeing him so confident and comfortable in the nursery environment was the perfect reinforcement of what we already know: Little Pioneers Swindon is playing
an active role in his development as a happy, settled, independent little boy.
The staff are exemplary. They are caring and kind, and both of our children are flourishing.
If you can get a place here, take it.

Well what can I say - our experience at this nursery has been and still is amazing. Not only do they take care of our child to an exceptional standard but they care for us as a family too. Every member of staff is lovely, supportive and caring, the activities they plan and the learning they do with
the children is brilliant. The communications via the app are great and the updates at handover are always so personal. I couldn't recommend this nursery enough! Also, how they get our 2 year old to eat things he won't eat at home - magic!

Incredibly happy with our nursery. All staff are friendly and supportive, and have gone the extra mile to help support my daughter through lots of stages including transitioning rooms, potty training and welcoming her baby brother. Her confidence, independence, social skills and ability to verbalise
her experience has blossomed with their help. Absolutely no reservations about my son starting there this year! Thank you!

Our little girl has really enjoyed her time at nursery. She will be leaving this year for school and has attended since she was 1. The staff have always been engaging and the activities they complete are varied and interesting. There is plenty of outdoor play and the rooms are always clean with interesting
displays and a good amount of play time activities.
There is an app for updates so you know about what food they've had, nap times, nappy changes etc and some photos of what they have been doing across the week. The meals are also varied with 3 meals provided throughout the day, which was great for us as working parents.
I'd recommend this nursery to anyone considering it, it was the best we'd looked around and ticked lots of boxes for us.

Our son has been attending Little Pioneers Nursery Swindon since January 2023 and my husband and I have nothing but amazing things to say about the nursery itself and staff. They go above and beyond and have made our sons experience extremely positive. He adores going to nursery and speaks so highly
of the staff. He has always been made to feel welcome and our second son will be attending when he is old enough also. We feel the nursery have catered to our sons needs and include real life situations such as becoming a big brother and created topics and activities around this. We are really grateful for how much the nursery have supported our son to continue to develop.

My little girl has been with the nursery since she was nine months old and in the time that she has been there I've always been so confident and comfortable with her going to nursery. I love the bonds that she has formed with her key person and I genuinely feel that they put our children first. They
care for them, look after them, and love them just as much as we do as parents.
They put in so much effort and time with the children in coming up with new activities and ideas to encourage their development and they work closely with the parents in ensuring that their development is suited to their age. The staff are friendly, accommodating, welcoming, and great with communication and I have always loved, am always lucky to say, that my little one has a great day going to nursery every day.

An excellent nursery that has cared for our little boy since he was 9 months old. He has come on leaps and bounds and absolutely loves his days at nursery! They've supported us with recent developmental leaps, including tantrums, and have been an excellent constant in our boys life. The staff are wonderful,
the resources are great and the outside space for them to explore is lovely. The best nursery we viewed and they're living up to all our expectations, and more!

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 49 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.963 for Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-school, Swindon is calculated as follows: ( (568 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 588 Ratings = 4.963
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-school, Swindon is based on 49 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 105 number of registered child places is 21, which has been reached with 49 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

I have worked at the nursery since the day it opened in 2003 and have loved developing it into the amazing place it is today! I have over 30 years of experience in childcare and use my knowledge and experience to build the team and the nursery to be the best.

As a mum of 2, I know what things are important to families and cascade these thoughts and feelings to the team so they get a true understanding and empathy towards our families.

I was first introduced to the Little Pioneers nursery when I completed a placement here as part of my college training back in 2012. I thoroughly enjoyed my time, so much so that I applied for a position and became a colleague as soon as I completed my training! I have worked my way up from Nursery Nurse to Room Manager, Third in charge and most recently I have taken on the role of the Deputy Manger. I worked in the 2-3s and under 2 ages mainly. I am the nursery SENCO and enjoy supporting families that need a little bit more support for their child.
