Kindred Winterbourne Earls Day Nursery and Pre-School was awarded 'Good' in its latest Ofsted inspection (May 2022).

The nursery and pre-school is a warm and welcoming environment where the staff are passionate about the mission to create inspiring worlds full of awe and wonder for little ones to grow and thrive in. By creating days filled with unique moments and opportunities, Kindred are able to truly enrich a child’s development during 0-5 years.

Not only that but Kindred also personally understands what it is to be a parent during this magical time and creates meaningful relationships with every parent. Parents will never miss an opportunity to share in the joy of every child’s developmental and learning moments.

The nursery is located in the heart of Winterbourne Earls village, next to the church. Staff offer exceptional childcare and early years education to children aged from 3 months up to 5 years. They are open from 7:45 am to 6:00 pm.

Staff are passionate about loose parts play and follow a Reggio-inspired approach to learning and development. They are also very proud of their exceptionally large outdoor space and forest garden.

Kindred Winterbourne Earls has been absolutely fantastic from day 1. My daughter started age 10 months and is about to leave to start school. She has gained so much confidence and really come out of her shell at nursery. She has made friends and had lots of brilliant experiences including ballet once
a week and previously a music teacher once a week. The staff have all been really supportive and helpful. The app is really informative & if I've been worried I've just messaged and had a response really quickly. I couldn't recommend them more & we will all miss it.

Kindred Winterbourne's is absolutely fantastic, such a lovely nursery with lovely staff who are extremely helpful, supporting and caring. Their engagement with the children is so connecting. The environment is great, the rooms are beautiful and look so fun. We joined this nursery halfway through the
term after removing my son from his old nursery due to the poor standards. It was the best choice we made because this nursery is phenomenal and we are at such ease with it. We know he's loved and cared for here. So many parents speak positively of this nursery. My child is in Curiosity Crescent and the staff in his room are so wonderful and informative. He really does have the best time here. Nothing is an issue, they incorporate your child's routine at home to nursery life. They give you an honest summary of how the day has been and what he's got up to etc. The app is fantastic, it gives us updates on what he's eaten, nap times, nappy changes and so on. The manager is brilliant.

Kindred Winterbourne is a fantastic setting and I am so happy that both my children are so happy and settled there. My daughter is currently in readiness road and is flourishing with the team, they are giving her challenges which she's thrives from whilst also supporting her emotional development. She
has come on so well and I cannot thank the Readiness Road team enough for all their care, attentiveness and enthusiasm. My son has recently started to settle into curiosity crescent and is also very happy and settled. He happily goes to the team for a cuddle in the morning without any tears. The team in curiosity crescent have been brilliant with his allergy needs, supporting with breast milk feeds and good naps during the day.
The satchel app is fantastic, all information about the children's day is included and information from the office is posted regularly. Some beautiful observations are created however this isn't as yet consistent across both my children's rooms.

Since my child has started at the nursery a year ago, she has learnt so much and being a wonderful little girl.
The staff have a huge part to play in this, their dedication to making sure that they have a wonderful day. There is always a different activity on offer which allows them to explore at

Winterbourne have been very supportive with my little girl, ready to listen to me with any concerns I have had and supporting me with getting her through speech and language, they have been very patient with her struggles with toileting and have gone out of their way to do the small little things to
support this. She’s always saying that she enjoys all the creative activities and is always coming home with lovely artwork, it’s great to be able to see nice little observations on what she gets up to here at the nursery.

Great little nursery with friendly staff members who like to go that extra mile. The care provided is great and the development in my child is unbelievable since attending.
The building itself, from the outside, is tatty and needs some maintenance. The playgrounds are dull and full of old equipment
which could do with modernising. However, inside the building, it’s a fantastic space for the children to learn and play.
Overall, a great little nursery and I’m happy my child attends.

There’s something about Kindred Winterbourne Earl that is different from other nurseries! The love and care I feel from the staff is what really helped make my decision very easy! I could tell the key workers genuinely love their jobs and the babies they look after. It’s so great to see it! I knew this
was the place for my baby to thrive, I just love the quality of the staff, the facilities, the app they have is so useful and it's easy to communicate with the key workers and team leader. They send me pictures to update me which is great for me as I’m a first-time mum and worry a lot! So having the app and receiving updates helps reassure me a lot! I love that they also provide meals a lot more compared to other nurseries. I love the learning activities they do with the babies and the progression opportunities from the baby room to preschool. The team were also quick to notify me when my baby’s allergies flared and put measures in place. So this is great too!

Kindred Winterbourne is an amazing setting, the rooms are warm and welcoming, being a first-time Mum I looked at 5 plus settings but after visiting here I knew this was where I wanted my daughter to be. From my initial tour with the manager who was very welcoming and made me feel at ease, she was able
to answer all my questions. Since my daughter has been at Winterbourne her speech and confidence have grown massively and she is becoming so confident. She happily goes in every day. The app is amazing and updates throughout the day so I know what she has been up to.

Kindred was the perfect place for our daughter to learn to be with teachers and not her parents for the first time in preparation for school. All the staff are extremely welcoming, friendly and approachable. They treated our daughter like a member of their own family, she was treated with kind words
and actions, encouraged to be herself and celebrated when she achieved something, even if it was a small something. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff there, everyone knows and cares about all the children, even those not in their direct care. Kindred is a special place and a wonderful environment in which children flourish.

Hello, my name is Laura Hopkins and I am the Manager at Kindred Winterbourne.


I started in this role in September 2024 after having progressed from being a deputy manager at one of our other Salisbury-based nurseries where I was in that role since 2018.


I began my career as a Private Nanny until I moved into nursery education. I hold a Diploma in Childcare and Education Level 3 and have experience in childcare since the early 2000s.

I have worked in childcare across a variety of ages from 3 months plus for nearly 13 years. I started my childcare career in 2010 at an outdoor nursery, where I completed my levels 2 and 3 in Early Years. This has given me some amazing experience and has helped me gain a wide range of knowledge which I have brought to Kindred.


I joined the Kindred family in 2018 as a room leader and have since worked my way up to Deputy Manager and nursery SENCO.
