Mama Bear's Day Nursery & Pre-School (Paignton - Midvale Road)

My son started Mama Bears in June 2026 at the age of 2½, he's been there for a few months now and he has settled in so well! The staff are wonderful, friendly and caring towards children and parents. Nothing is too much of an ask! My son always comes home beaming with stories from his day!

Our son started at Midvale earlier in the year, as any parent would be, we had all the usual worry's, but we honestly didn't need to at all. The baby room girls have been amazing. I would like to give a special thanks to Libby (sons key worker) and kamara (sons favourite person). For their amazing work with our son. He had a tricky time over the past term and the nursery have done amazing in suggesting and listening to ideas of how we can manage the behaviour he was displaying. No review would be complete without mentioning Josh. This man is Midvale version of Mr Tumble and is the heart of the nursery. He's the sort of staff member you want to bump into when dropping your child off, as you know your child is going to have a great day. His rapport with parents is amazing and always has time for a chat, catch up or even just to be an ear if you need a vent or just to pour your heart out to about your troubles. Also want to thank the nursery for helping us with unexpected childcare needs.

My son has been coming to Mama bears since he was just over a year old after not a very nice experience with a childminder, This nursery have been not only good for our son but amazing for me too after our previous experience. They are always so lovely on drop off & pick up. Our son has come on leaps & bounds and has made very good connections with all of the staff. We cannot thank them enough for everything they have done for us as a family. Our son loves it there & asks everyday to go to nursery. He will be staying with them until he is old enough for school, we recommend them to everyone.

Our daughter started at mama bears on Midvale Road at the start of the year. From the very first meeting we completely fell in love with the physical nursery space (especially the huge magnolia tree in the garden) and the wonderful staff, with honourable mention to our little girl's key staff member- Emily. Emily and all the nursery workers are tireless in their efforts to support children to flourish into little people with active imaginations, excellent manners and skills to help reach and exceed all goals. The nursery is organised and supportive, as flexible as they can be and keep the children at the heart of everything they do. Nursery manager Josh is one of the most fantastic individuals in child care I've ever met! My daughter comes home and tells me about the friends she has made, the books she has read, the time spent playing with water outside and most importantly the lunch and tea she has had!

This is a fantastic nursery and the staff should be proud of what they do.

I am generally glad I found this place for my little one.

My son absolutely loves spending time at nursery. He used to struggle but thanks to the staff who have took the time to understand him and his needs have made it easier as a parent. My son has come on leaps and bounds in many ways. The management and staff are all hands down amazing.

A special mention to Josh, the manager, who has made a huge positive difference since joining. His leadership has really helped improve the nursery, and my son is thriving under the fantastic care of the team. All of the staff are a credit to Mama Bear's. Thank you for everything you do!

Since her very first settling in session she has enjoyed and thrived at nursery. Its always been a positive experience and she has learnt and developed so much and gained in confidence and developing her character and its so lovely to watch her grow and that is thanks to all the wounderful staff always so kind helpful and friendly and always accomdating and understanding and the staff work so hard. Its really appreciated all the work you do so thank you and its do reassuring to know your child is in a wounderful safe space and in the best care.

My son has attended this nursery for the past 12 months and what can I say, he has just flourished. As far as learning, he has come on leaps and bounds since being here. His sign language is amazing and his communication has improved massively. The staff have really focused on ensuring that my son is having a fantastic time whilst also being educated. He is always so excited to go to nursery and is always greeted by very kind and happy staff. All of the staff have been amazing. I am always made aware of everything that happens through an app which is brilliant. I can check on my son whilst I work. The facilities are wonderful and my son personally loves being able to play in the garden. The food always looks delicious too! I cannot recommend this nursery highly enough. If you're looking for a local nursery who genuinely care for your child then look no further!

Well, where do I start with Mama Bears on midvale road. My eldest son attended this preschool from the age of two until he was ready for big school, and the exceptional, caring, loving care he received was out of this world. He displayed some advanced learning and the nursery created a lovely plan to help push my sons learning so he was definitely ready to start reception. Throughout the time I got pregnant with my second son, the nursery demonstrated a level of care that I still hold extremely close to my heart, I had my baby very early and was extremely pooorly, but the preschool was there. They helped in more ways that I could imagine. Because midvale road staff showed this extraordinary dedication it was solidified that my baby would also attend mama bears. So at the age of two, little Fred started, and we will never look back. Professionalism with his meds, love for him, care for him, you're my hero's.YOU ARE ALL AMAZING!!!! THANKYOU!

My son attends the preschool, and I was quite anxious about sending him at first. However, the entire Mama Bears Midvale team have been incredible in supporting this transition - both for my son, who absolutely loves it there, and for me, making sure I feel comfortable and supported every step of the way.

The staff are amazing with my little boy, and I couldn't have asked for a better setting for him. His speech has come on so much since joining, and the team have been wonderfully attentive to his eczema, medications, and dietary needs. They also provide so many wonderful opportunities for learning - from creative arts and crafts, to exploring different textures, and enjoying outdoor adventures.

I'm so grateful to see my son thriving in such a caring, nurturing environment. I truly cannot thank the staff enough for their ongoing dedication and support.

Everyone at Mama Bear Nursery is so friendly and really makes you and your child feel welcome and at ease. We would highly recommend this setting. Our daughter has made so many friends. Become so confident and we know when we drop her off that she will have lots of fun and learn lots too. We cannot fault this setting and so pleased we chose here for our daughter. She has been attending since 9 months old and is now 15 months old.

I couldn't be happier with Mama Bears, as a first-time father, everything is daunting, and I feel so comfortable leaving my girls at Mama Bears, every member of the team are very friendly and takes time to create a welcoming and warm environment. With personal updates, I feel my girls are in great hands. The Christmas nativity showed this perfectly, the teachers had personal connections with all the children and put on a great show for everyone. Praises all around, and a big thank you to all at Mama Bears.

We have had a very positive experience with this nursery, our son has settled in very well. All the staff are friendly and caring and seem really engaged with the children and interested in getting to know them. I can head to work knowing he is going to be well looked after, safe, and in the care of people who have his best interests at heart. He learns new things all the time and gets opportunities to play and interact with other children. Thanks to all of the staff there, you do an incredible job.
