I have moved my little boy through two nurseries so far. When we found Ambourne it was a blessing. My son settled in fine, you can see the staff truly do try their hardest every day.
My son has settled in so well, he's more confident and is very very happy.
I wish we had found the nursery sooner.
Reply from Preena Patel at Ambourne House Day NurseryThank you very much for your kind words! It's been such a pleasure watching your son develop into such a confident boy!

My three year old daughter and one year old son both come to Ambourne House Day Nursery in Patchway. We switched from another nursery that we weren't happy with and were a little anxious when we first visited Ambourne as we weren't sure what to expect, given our first experience. We were shown around
by the Manager and we instantly knew we were in the right place.
We had a tour of the whole nursery and all the staff were welcoming and friendly. We had no hesitation in booking our children into the nursery. They have both been really happy so far and are well looked after. The staff in their respective rooms are really helpful and we get regular updates on how the children are doing. Could not recommend Ambourne House highly enough.

As a worried dad, I could not ask for a better nursery for my daughter! Not only are the staff so caring, attentive and knowledgeable; the nursery itself has been extremely stimulating for her.
The manager has a real passion for Montessori which really shows when looking around the nursery. The whole
team have been so accommodating to us and we are so grateful to have found a nursery we feel confident in leaving our daughter with.
Reply from Preena Patel at Ambourne House Day NurseryThank you so much for your kind words Joe! We are so pleased to know that you feel so confident in the care we provide. It's a pleasure having your family with us and we will continue to do what we can to make you sure you and your little girl's memories of Ambourne are the happiest.

I used this nursery for my daughter 10 years ago and always recommended it. I have recently put my 9 month old in here and he absolutely loves it. They've been fab with him and his development, made him really welcome and the transition of me going back to work so easy! Cannot recommend enough!!

My two daughters aged 6 and 2 have attended Ambourne House and both have loved the nursery, as do we! All staff are really friendly, approachable and accommodating, particularly the staff within the tadpole and frog room (where my youngest daughter is at present) - they show a real interest in the
children and what they get up to outside of nursery as well as planning fun and challenging activities each and every day. I have seen some real improvements in the nursery over the last 12 months and particularly love the attention given to the needs of individual children, the regular use of tapestry and the opportunity to attend the nursery when they have external providers/activities for the children. My daughter is really happy at Ambourne House.

We are very happy with the care our son has received in Ambourne House for the last 3 years. We like the balance of indoor and outdoor time with activities like forest school making the most of the lovely big garden.
The team is nice and professional. The activities are tailored to match the interests
of the children which keeps them engaged and keen to learn.
Our son loves going there.

Thank you Ambourne House Day Nursery staff for everything. My son stayed in nursery for almost 3 years. It has always been a pleasure for my son to come to nursery and learn new things. He started school this year but he still remembers nursery and staff members. The Ambourne House Day Nursery provides
a good childcare service.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.945) out of 10 for Ambourne House Day Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.945 for Ambourne House Day Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (261 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 275 Ratings = 4.945
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ambourne House Day Nursery is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 number of registered child places is 13, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2019

Hello! I’m Roberta, and I joined the Ambourne House team in September 2019.

As the Nursery Manager and Designated Safeguarding Lead, I am dedicated to ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all the children in our care.

I moved to the UK in 2011 after earning a BSc (Hons) Degree in Education. My journey began in London, where I worked as a nanny for a bilingual family. Later, I moved to Bristol and started working in a nursery preschool, where I developed a deep understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

I have always had a passion for education, and I love to keep learning. To further enhance my skills, I studied the Montessori approach, which beautifully aligns with the national curriculum.

One of the things I love most about my role is spending time in every room of the nursery, building bonds with children of all ages through play and connection. It’s truly rewarding to see their confidence and curiosity grow each day!
