Acorns Henbury Hill is a charming listed building, which has impressive gardens and views that stretch for miles across the Bristol Channel. With plenty of open space this Forest School site is an exceptional resource that the children love to explore.

Spacious airy play rooms and play lofts with wonderful purpose-made resources ensure that every child has a wealth of opportunities to discover and explore.

Food is cooked on site by resident cooks, ensuring the children have home-cooked delicious healthy meals every day.

Regular visits by an Early Years Teacher follows the Foundation Phase which links with the National Curriculum to ensure children find the transitions from nursery to school as easy as possible, and home links and school links with local primary schools are encouraged. A SENCO coordinator provides additional support for children with additional needs.

All Acorns Nurseries operate an 'Open Door' policy and encourage prospective parents to come and have a look round at any time.

My son (3yrs) and daughter (1yrs) attend Acorns. We have always been very happy there. Both settled in well. Despite being a big nursery they show such care and attention to each child's personality. The preschool activities and facilities are exceptional. Especially the forest school. They organise
events for the children like a Christmas concert.

Acorns is a wonderful nursery which offers plenty of outdoor space for the children to learn and grow. The staff are compassionate, friendly and caring, who go above and beyond every day to make sure a day at Acorns is one of fun, curiosity and kindness. The food the children have is brilliant. Acorns
isn't the closest nursery to us geographically but we feel it's worth the extra travel because of the experience our children have there.

Very happy with our son's care in nursery. The staff looking after him are lovely and he likes his key workers, they have a great freshly-cooked menu everyday, and lots of fun and creative activities for the children everyday. They have helped with his development in different ways too. They have a
fabulous outdoor garden which our little nature lover adores.

We are so happy we found this amazing nursery in Bristol. Our son joined in March 2024 and from the very beginning the staff were incredibly supportive, kind and professional. I am always in awe of the activities they come up with for the children and am never worried to leave him in their care. Thank
you so much to everyone at Acorns for all that you do.

My daughter has been very happy at Acorns over the last 6 months. I was apprehensive about the size as my son attended a very small family run nursery but I shouldn't have been worried! The staff are brilliant, so attentive and caring, and even though it is big it has a very personalised and cosy atmosphere.
They have plenty of very longstanding staff members and it is very well organised. Highly recommended!

Lovely staff and nursery. They helped my daughter settle in so quickly and really meet all her needs. She loves her days at nursery and everyday does lots of different activities like playing in the garden, painting, sensory sessions and music. Couldn't be happier with the nursery.

Great nursery all around. The staff are very attentive and caring. Both of my children attended this nursery, and I never considered any other. The children are well supported in their development. The building and the garden are amazing - I don't know any other nursery that can boast such a setting.

We've had a really positive experience with this nursery so far. The environment is always clean, well organised and feels very welcoming for children. There are lots of engaging activities planned throughout the day, which keeps the children stimulated and learning through play.

The staff are friendly

and attentive, and it's clear they genuinely care about the children in their care. It gives me peace of mind knowing my daughter is in a safe and nurturing environment where she can explore, learn and have fun. Overall, I'm very happy with the nursery and I have recommend it to other parents.

Our daughter absolutely loves coming to this nursery. The staff are always so friendly, welcoming, and clearly care a lot about the children. It's lovely to see how happy and comfortable she is there each day.

The outdoor space is fantastic and gives the children plenty of room to play, explore, and

enjoy being outside. It's clear that a lot of thought has gone into creating a fun and safe environment for them.

We're really pleased with the care she receives and would definitely recommend this nursery to other parents.

My child started here in December and immediately I felt at home at Acorns (Henbury).

The managers & staff that generally greet us at the door - particularly Mary, Natalie and Kristy - are so warm to both me and my child and I know he's in good hands.

Lots of my friends send their children here

too and all have the same experience.

The staff at Acorns is more like a family to me. Each individual person makes a clear effort to connect with the children, each other and you as a parent. I personally enjoyed getting to know them during pick ups and drop offs and I always got a positive, engaged and switched-on attitude from everyone.
There can be changes, observations and or questions that as a nervous mum one wants to make and the managers have always been there to discuss and make adjustments happen and or explain the context. My daughter was at Acorns since she was 11 months old until she was 3 years and a couple of months - and if we were not moving countries she would've stayed until preschool. I miss the staff, the smiles, the stories they would tell me of my daughters day and personality. They make Acorns a wonderful place. Special shoutouts to Natalie, Siobhan, Kristy, Mary, Lauren, Violeta, Manhar, Tracy, Ruby, Aneesha, Chloe, Savannah, Charlie, Leanne, the gardeners and the fruit delivery guy!!!

We couldn't be happier with our experience at Acorns Nursery Henbury Hill.

Our son joined in February 2024 and moved to full time in August. From the very beginning, the team were incredibly understanding when we had to delay his official start date due to illness. That compassion and flexibility

set the tone for everything that followed.

The staff are kind, supportive, highly skilled, and clearly experts in early years care and development. The activities are thoughtful, engaging, and genuinely lovely. The meals seem wholesome and nutritious.

Most importantly, our son absolutely loves his time there. He is happy, stimulated, and thriving. We never have any worries about the standard of care.

The culture, policies, and facilities are all excellent. The nursery has genuinely exceeded our expectations of what childcare can look like, and we feel very lucky to have them as part of our our support network.

Thank you to the whole team for everything you do!

The staff are friendly, helpful and open. My daughter is always excited to see them when I drop her off. They have a great building with lots of outdoor space and they always make an effort to come up with new and seasonal activities for the children to do. I feel they make a real effort to involve
parents with daily updates, regular parent evenings and stay and play sessions.

Our son has been with Acorns Henbury Hill for nearly two years and it's the most wonderful place. The staff are absolutely lovely and our little guy adores them. The site is wonderful, large and airy and there is tons of outdoor space. They are out in the gardens in all weathers and there is so much
to do. We used a different nursery for our first child and that was pretty good, but Acorns has been another level. The combination of the staff, environment, site and effort everyone there makes. We couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Friendly staff who always have a smile on their face. Know all the kiddo's names. Personalised service. Very happy. A wide range of activities is offered to the kiddos. My only wish is that they spent more time outside, hopefully, they will now the weather is getting brighter.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.365) out of 10 for Acorns Henbury Hill, Bristol is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.965 for Acorns Henbury Hill, Bristol is calculated as follows: ( (139 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 144 Ratings = 4.965
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.4 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acorns Henbury Hill, Bristol is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 100 number of registered child places is 20. 12 Positive Reviews ÷ 20 = 0.6
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
