The Maltings Day Nursery is set in the centre of the Cathedral city of Ely, in close proximity to the river and surrounding parks. They provide quality childcare in a welcoming, stimulating and caring environment. The building is ideal for a home from home ethos with individual rooms for different ages allowing the children to develop and grow at their own pace. They promote children’s interests using the Early Years Foundation Stage and underpin all care and learning using the Characteristics of Effective Learning and with the use of Schematic Play. They recognise that each child is individual and take care and time to enrich individual learning. Nursery activities are planned within each ‘key group’ of children. They are exciting, interesting and where possible, they offer the opportunity of first-hand experience. The children are able to take daily outings and walks around Ely, using the nursery bus.

Our eldest daughter started at The Maltings when she was about 10 months old and is now 2. the team at The Maltings have always been brilliant. Our LO loves going and talks very fondly of nursery. They seem to do the right amount of structure for her age, she comes home having leaned new things and
sings nursery songs and re-enacts activities like circle time at home.


At the beginning, when she found it tricky to say "bye" to mummy, they were always very reassuring and never seemed to mind if I called/emailed to check how she was doing. The handovers at the end of each day are super, always lots of info and they speak fondly of our little girl which is lovely. She is clearly well cared for (little touches like has never come home in a dirty nappy). Nursery and garden always looks tidy and clean too. Weekly newsletters with pics are also great. Very glad we chose the maltings as our nursery.

The Maltings have gone above and beyond to help our little boy settle into nursery. They have given him a great start to his nursery life and he loves being able to join in with other children his own age. He has become much more confident since starting in September and we have seen a huge leap in
his speech. We love seeing the photos of him joining in with activities such as painting, water play, playdough and role play, and I always feel like the staff have listened to what he enjoys at home and they try to offer this at nursery too.

So happy our son goes here. The staff are always friendly and very receptive to anything we say to them. Our son has developed so much from going here and it is clear to us that the children's development and care is the nursery's priority. Our son clearly loves going and asks to go at the weekend!

My daughter started at the Maltings in September 2021. She has been so well looked after by the team and nurtured since she started. There is genuine love for the children at The Maltings and their needs are met on an individual level. I would highly recommend them and have been! The whole team are
friendly, approachable, professional and have the childrens' care at the forefront of everything they do. The Management team and staff know each child very well and are keen support each child, as best suits their needs. I have been very happy with the care my daughter has received from The Maltings.

Our son started at the nursery in September 2020 when he was 15-months and he settled in so quickly. He loves his time there and happily runs in every morning. The staff have been very welcoming, and it was really obvious on a recent parent consultation call how well they know our son. I really like

The Maltings Day Nursery has been such a brilliant experience for our son. The staff have helped him develop confidence in areas he was unsure, opened his eyes to new ideas and given him many learning and development opportunities. Just the fact that he is always eager to go off happily into the nursery
and the way he talks about the staff and things he’s learnt with enthusiasm shows us how much he enjoys it. The management staff are communicative and are always ready to help with any nursery or child development queries and are often like a support team away from home.

My daughter started nursery at The Maltings in January and has come on leaps and bounds already. Being a lockdown baby, we were a little nervous about her starting and suddenly being surrounded by lots of new children. But, she enhanced it and soon loved being around friends. The staff go above and
beyond to help with anything possible. They are always happy to help. I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone; they have so much to offer. We are so glad we sent our daughter here.

The Maltings has become our son’s second home. He is nurtured and cared for by all of the staff exceptionally well. In the mornings, he bounces through the entrance, smiling and has so much excitement when we pick him up.
Our son has been supported to become confident and more independent with his
eating and self-care. His speech is developing well, and he has learnt to enjoy the messy play.
A draw to this nursery was the family feel. From day one, we have felt welcome and part of The Maltings family. Everyone knows our son, even staff in the other rooms, and they always ask how we are and say hello.
We were also drawn to The Maltings because of their use of the outdoor areas. The forest school approach has a high priority here, which we love. It is such a joy to see our son being encouraged to explore the outdoors, jumping in puddles and splashing in mud.
We look forward to many more years at The Maltings.

Both my children attend The Maltings. The care they both receive is fantastic. The variety of activities the staff do keeps them happy and entertained, my daughter often comes home telling me what an exciting day she’s had. The staff at The Maltings are faultless, all show enthusiasm and confidence
in their roles. I would highly recommend this nursery to anybody, both my children love it there.

Our son started at The Maltings when he was 12-months-old. It was right in the midst of the pandemic. As a first-time parent, I was very anxious about leaving him, especially as I could only attend one settling in session. The nursery staff have been absolutely amazing from start to finish. Always very
friendly and informative. After a tearful start, to begin with, my son now leaves my side before I even have time to say bye. He absolutely loves it there! The environment they have created has made a baby who didn’t sleep in the day to sleeping three hours most days. With all the excitement and activities he needs it!
I honestly cannot recommend The Maltings Day Nursery enough. I was recommended this nursery by my brother and sister-in-law who have had all three of their children attend. They couldn’t have been more right! Fantastic!

Our two children love attending this nursery. They are always warmly greeted and have developed great friendships with their peers and a real connection to their key workers. I feel informed about their time at nursery and things they are doing well and not so well. What makes the difference is the
enthusiasm of the team. My youngest recently took a few steps during nursery time, and the key worker was so excited to let us know how and when it happened. They looked after my eldest in the preschool room. She is always on the go and somehow they keep up, even noticing things like a new pair of shoes (!) and taking the time to find out about what she has done outside of the nursery. The Manager and Deputy Manager really do keep us, parents, up to date, and offer encouragement and feedback about how we can get involved.
I couldn't ask for better people to look after my girls - thank you!

Both of my children have attended The Maltings Day Nursery from the age of around 11 months. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and always take care to listen to what your child likes and needs and try to ensure that they stick to your child's sleep routine where possible. They always have fun
themes and activities planned for the children, and even take them out for walks around Ely and have forest school in the nursery garden which they really enjoy. They provide a varied range of meals and snacks and my children sometimes eat things at nursery that they wouldn’t even consider eating at home! The staff always provide detailed feedback at the end of the day and let you know if they have any concerns or need to make you aware of anything. The folders that the staff put together of the children's work to document their progress are a really good insight into what they do at nursery! I would highly recommend The Maltings Day Nursery to anyone needing childcare in Ely.

My 10-month-old daughter joined the nursery In August 2020 after spending the majority of her lifetime in some sort of lockdown, with limited interactions with anyone other than myself and her mum. The staff were so friendly and helpful with a phased settling in process and explained the current changes
to normal practices due to Covid. Our daughter is now very settled and loves everything about nursery. She waves goodbye happily and we see lots of lovely photos of her having a great time in the newsletter. She eats lots of different meals which has helped with her weaning. We highly recommend the nursery and are very grateful for how easy the first few weeks have been for us all.

Our son settled in so quickly, much of this thanks to the great staff who he loves! Seeing him happy and thriving at nursery is a joy to see. On Friday the 14th December 2018, parents of those children who are due to start school in September 2019 were invited to a beautiful nativity play based on the 'Humph the Camel' book. The children have worked especially hard, practising their songs and learning their lines. It was lovely to see all
children sharing social, cultural and moral values around Christmas time.
What is more, some children and staff visited Ely Cathedral and sang Christmas songs.
Thank you to all the wonderful staff for making this possible.

We are absolutely delighted with the care that our daughter receives at The Maltings Day Nursery. She settled in very quickly thanks to the support of the whole staff team. We always find all of the staff to be very friendly and approachable. They have a good relationship with our daughter. She feels
very safe and happy there and comes home after every session talking about her friends, singing new songs she has learned, carrying all sorts of exciting art and telling stories of her adventures around Ely in the nursery 'bus'. Thank you so much to the whole team - we couldn't be happier.
