My daughter is very happy and enjoys her time in the nursery with the staff and other children. She is always very excited to start a new day in the nursery and cannot wait to enter while we are queuing outside the nursery waiting for staff to come and pick her up.

Our son loves his preschool at Long Road, where he has developed good relationships with other children and staff. There has been some disruption in his life outside, so Long Road has been a fantastic source of stability for him, which I greatly value. Thank you for being there.

Staff are caring and knowledgeable. Despite covid, they have really tried to get to know the parents and provided superb support to the children. She is always excited to go to preschool in the morning and has a full and fun day!

My son absolutely loves going to nursery. He is usually at another nursery, which he also loves but is at Long Road due to covid-19. The staff are very friendly and he seems to have a great relationship with them. Will definitely recommend to others. Would it be possible to have the weekly menu emailed
to parents, so it is easier to work out what they've been eating, so we can cook something different at weekends? Thank you.

Our experience with the Long Road Day Nursery is very positive. It was an easy transition for my daughter in joining the nursery when the was 13 months old; the staff is very friendly and took very good care of my baby. They kept me posted about her progress allowing me to visit anytime during the day
and provided the support to allow me to continue to breastfeed her during my lunchtime. The staff at the reception are also very friendly and professional. The nursery received 5 stars for their food hygiene in 2019 which is very reassuring that my baby is having well-prepared food. I feel very satisfied that my baby is in good hands. Thank you to all the staff at Long Road Day Nursery for your hard work and hopefully, we will continue to have a positive experience for my baby.

It makes my heart feel all warmed up when I wake up my 2-year-old to go to nursery. She now knows she goes there very early and so she barely struggles. It must be a little piece of heaven for such an innocent soul to trust leaving her mother. I am always happy to hear of all that she does and the staff
do indulge me. Her sister went to the same school, she gained her confidence in just days. She too asks her little sister about her day, you can tell she misses it. It's a place you can leave your child all day knowing full well that all will be well. Keep it up Long Road and thank you.

My child has enjoyed their time at bright horizons. As a parent I have been impressed with the quality of care and variety of challenging activities for the children. Also the food! As a busy working parent it is great that the office are very responsive to queries and administration around payments
and 30 free hours childcare claims. The security at the nursery is good and the facilities are clean.

This nursery is extremely well managed with clear communication from a very approachable and organised management team. Our son has received a consistently high level of care and attention from the nursery nurses. They provide the children with a caring, stimulating and fun environment and have enabled
our son to flourish during his time here. The accommodation and activities are excellent with good outdoor areas that can be accessed all year round.

My daughter is due to leave Bright Horizons Long Road Day Nursery in a few weeks to start school, and I want to thank the nursery for the four brilliant years she has had there. From baby room to pre-school, her needs have been met and exceeded. Each transition from room to room as she has grown has
been considerate and well managed, and she has never missed the old room for long once she's realised the fun and challenges to be had in the new one. Every one of her key workers has bonded well with her and has worked with us to make sure she is happy at nursery and away from it. I have recently noticed in conversations I have had with parents with children in other settings that they are surprised at how much 'education' my daughter has been getting. I've realised I have been taking this for granted and want to especially thank pre-school for getting her so set for 'big school'. I am confident my son, who is currently in the baby room, will also thrive on his journey through this excellent nursery.

Our daughter has spent 4 years at this nursery. We have been extremely happy about this time, the care provided, the facilities, the opening times and the many great people working and managing the nursery. We are also very happy to see how much our daughter has learnt effortlessly over the years; it
was fun to work, together with nurses, teaching various essential skills – from the basic up to writing and basic arithmetic.


This was an ideal arrangement for us, particularly as we both work. Of course, all of this comes at the cost. Fees are very high making this nursery unaffordable for many; however, I would say the same for any other place – and if you are a couple of professional you are going to get good value for money, considering how expensive Cambridge is. At least, we see how our fees are invested into a continuous refurbishment of the facilities, teaching activities and tools, and to recruit the wonderful people we had the privilege to meet.

My daughter went to this nursery and now my son attends it. This really is an amazing learning place, where my son and daughter both love and talk about all the time. Every time I pick them up they always talk about how really good it was, what songs they sang, and how they loved playing with their
friends and key workers. The staff are very friendly staff as of course my son and daughters' key workers. They always allow time to give for each parent to provide feedback about their child.
The meals are very well balanced and nutritious and they are provided with plenty of fruit as snacks and at meal times.
I would thoroughly recommend this nursery to someone who is looking for a nursery and is in easy distance to the city centre of Cambridge.

We have been really impressed with the quality of care at Long Road - it's a great nursery and I've been so pleased with the commitment, professionalism and thoughtfulness of the staff. The breadth of activities that our son has been involved in has been great, the organisation has always been excellent
and, most importantly, we have always had complete confidence that our son has been safe, happy and fulfilled.
I wouldn't hesitate to suggest this nursery to other parents - thoroughly recommended.

Have 3 children here and have been very happy with the experience overall. Rooms for babies to pre-school age have been fantastic for my boys. Staff are really attentive and enthusiastic about their jobs and the boys love the playgrounds. My eldest has been in the pre-school room for nearly a year now
and I have been somewhat disappointed with his experience in this room. On several occasions, we have received comments about his behaviour as he becomes frustrated easily and has tantrums. From talking to other parents of children a similar age, this seems to be normal behaviour and not something that we should be worried about. However, the pre-school room has seemed unable to recognise that he needs more stimulation. It is also extremely hot in that room, lots of children and no easy access to the garden. The pre-school staff could do more to break the children into smaller groups, do more structured activities, and spend more time with the children who need additional stimulation.

I’ve been a user of this nursery for 7 years, for both my sons and my youngest is still there.


Cannot recommend it enough. Management is superb and deals with everything quickly and professionally. I feel complete trust leaving my children with them.


My youngest had lots of allergies and they

were always very confident around managing these.

We've been extremely impressed with the pre-school facility at this nursery. Our daughter learnt and had fun, and was ready for the start of school. Our younger son equally loves his room, the team are so caring and patient! We couldn't ask for better care!

My son has been at the Nursery from ten months old. Throughout his time at the nursery he has received excellent care from the staff in each room. They have supported his development and helped him grow into the confident little boy he is today. He has learnt so much in his time at nursery and has always
looked forward to going there, even asking if he is going on days he doesn't attend.


He is more than ready for school, with the help of the fantastic team in the preschool room. He will miss them all but he's definitely ready for the next stage of his education.

Our daughter has been at Long Road for 3.5years and throughout this time she has had tremendous care, support and education from the team in each room.
They have catered for her every need and through her time at nursery, she has grown in confidence and seems to have learnt so much, whilst enjoying
her time there.
I would recommend the nursery without hesitation and I know we will miss them when she moves onto school but we also know she is really for this next step thanks to their careful preparation.

I always think it involves enormous trust to leave a child to any form of childcare. After 5x settling in sessions in Room 2 and 5 weeks full-time nursery experience, I am truly satisfied and pleased about my initial decision. Nothing is more important that seeing my little one jump into her key person
every morning when I drop off, also seeing her smiling while picking up.


Compliments
1 - Easy and effective communication with room staff and manager. Nice and warm.
2 - Big compliments to the room leader of Room 2, also my little one's key person. Great job. Lots of loving cuddles when needed.
3 - Food variety and nutrition balance.
4 - Safety facilities.


Can be better
1 - Continuity: children can be less well kept when room leader/key person is away. Better handover? Maintain 1:3 ratio.
2 - More activities as my little one absolutely loves and enjoys them!

Jess

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Jess the Nursery Manager embarked on her journey with the nursery in November 2005. Starting as a Deputy Manager at Long Road, she diligently worked her way up within Bright Horizons. In November 2011, she transitioned to Ely Day Nursery, continuing her role as Deputy. Demonstrating her strong leadership skills, she assumed the position of Nursery Manager at Ely in November 2012, where the nursery achieved an outstanding Ofsted report in December 2017.

Despite her success at Ely, her heart remained with Long Road. In August 2021, Jess returned as the Nursery Manager, driven by her unwavering passion to provide the best for children. Her commitment lies in empowering children with the skills to navigate through life successfully.

Jess thrives on the close collaboration with families and staff, striving to achieve optimal outcomes for all involved and we are proud to have her as part of our team.

Shannon

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Shannon, the Deputy Manager, began her career at the nursery in September 2014. Starting as a newly qualified Nursery Nurse in the toddler room, she delved into the childcare industry.

In this role, Shannon has developed a foundation for understanding and knowledge of children and young people, emphasising their learning and developmental processes. Shannon's focus was on crafting an enabling environment and pushing the boundaries to challenge the children within their care to achieve their utmost potential while prioritising safety and care needs.

With time and dedication, Shannon transitioned to the role of Deputy Room Leader, collaborating closely with the Room Leader to bolster the team and environment.

In January 2020, Shannon's journey was promoted to the esteemed position of Deputy Manager. In this role, she expanded her understanding of Bright Horizons' heart values, while fostering the growth of her team. Shannon now stands as a beacon of experience and knowledge, poised to guide others on their paths to success.
