An inspiring and nurturing nursery in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge

Situated in a client setting, Bright Horizons have collaborated with Addenbrooke’s Hospital, but welcome all families in the area to the nursery. There is plenty of space for children to learn and explore, with five bright and airy age specific rooms.
Each of the five rooms offer each age group their own specialised activities and equipment to support their learning and inspire their interests.
The well-qualified team of highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced staff work together to provide a well-balanced programme of fun activities and learning experiences.
A carefully planned curriculum, alongside a unique Ready for School programme, helps foster an enjoyment of early literacy and maths. Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians Enhancements, help children to recognise letters, words and numbers in their environment, becoming confident learners.
The nursery benefits from a large, recently refurbished garden for children to enjoy playing freely all year round. The children are encouraged to play outside and in the sand, ride their bikes, and have stories read to them in the ‘magic story area’.
There is an easy parking area with 30 minutes’ free parking in limited bays near the Frank Lee Centre. All-inclusive fees mean that you have less to pack on a busy morning, with everything from healthy lunches and snacks to branded nappies and wipes included.
The nursery was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted (Feb 2020) for their commitment to high-quality childcare and education, with elements of outstanding.
The long-standing team would love to meet the family, so book a visit with the nursery today to see all the benefits the nursery has to offer during the personal tour.

My daughter started at Bunnybrookes Nursery when she was 10 months old and was there until she went to school. My son joined at 10 months old too and is still attending. In my 4 years experience of Bunnybrookes Nursery, I have never had any cause for complaint. My children have thoroughly enjoyed
their time there, and have received an incredibly high level of care. The staff are warm, caring and friendly. Bunnybrookes has a small family feel about it, the staff turnover is relatively low meaning many staff have looked after both my children - great consistency for kids (and parents too!).

Our son has been at Bunnybrookes for almost 2 months now. I was quite nervous initially as he was quite young when I went back to work by we’ve been really happy with his care so far. I know that he has a good time as he squeals with excitement when we go through the door to his room. We are updated
on all the things he has done each day, the staff are really friendly and approachable and I feel like I have built a good rapport with them. Hopefully this will all continue! Would definitely recommend, I just wish the waiting list for a full-time place wasn’t so long!

I am overwhelmed by the standards met by the team looking after my girls. They go above and beyond on a daily basis. When I pick them up at the end of the day I genuinely feel they have been cared for and it makes going back to work all the more easy. Little things like putting French plaits in my eldest
daughters hair or telling me they've tried several different ways to get my youngest to drink her milk makes me want to personally thank each and every one of the staff, keep up the good work you're doing an excellent job. :)

A lovely friendly environment. My boy enjoys himself every time he's here. He seems to have lots of fun and like all the staff. The staff give off a very good impression and seem to care quite a lot about the wellbeing of my boy. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Our daughter started nursery in November and found it difficult to adjust and settle in. The staff have been wonderful her and so patient. They have given her endless cuddles and care until she found her feet and for the past 2 weeks. She has been so happy there. She is becoming much more confident
and plays happily at nursery. The food is fantastic and she eats so well each day she's there. It's very convenient for my work but the main reason I would recommend it is for the care, patience and tenderness that has been shown to our daughter. Thank you so much.

Fabulous care. One member of staff has been amazing with my daughter who struggled at first to settle. My daughter loves one member staff to bits and I feel happy to know how well looked after she is. I'm not sure what we will do if this member of staff ever leaves. Management of the nursery are great,
we have no complaints at all.

It would be nice if the nursery could have an hourly rate for families who wish to have their child in the nursery on an hourly basis instead of half days or long days (morning/afternoon or whole day). Staff always accommodating and kind. Sure my child is happy and safe.

The staff at Bunnybrookes have been caring and attentive, and ensured that my children are well looked after. Both of my children are happy when I pick them up, and the older one reports a good day each time. In particular, the staff made the initial settling in process much easier than it could have
been. The nursery has been understanding of my need for extra sessions periodically, due to work commitments, and have tried to accommodate these as far as possible.

Staff at Bunnybrookes Nursery are always cheerful and welcoming, they make me feel comfortable and confident leaving my child in their care. Great feedback on a daily basis about what my son has been up to/ sleep/ how much he has eaten and even how many nappy changes!

I like the atmosphere at the nursery, the staff are very friendly and always approachable, we get good feedback at all times at the end of the day and the children are always cheerful. Its just sometimes the rooms look very crammed and a bit nerving to see different staff which can be confusing for
the children.

My daughter has been attending the nursery since she could barely crawl and I have been very impressed by the care and professionalism shown by Bunnybrookes from the outset. Not only has she made some fantastic friends there, but attending the nursery has had a definite positive impact on her learning
and development. Of course, it goes without saying, the safety of my child is my prime concern and I have always had the greatest confidence that she is cared for in a safe environment.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.872)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.872) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Bunnybrookes Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.931 for Bright Horizons Bunnybrookes Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (67 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.931
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.941 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Bunnybrookes Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 88 number of registered child places is 17.6. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 17.6 = 0.341
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
