An inspiring and nurturing nursery in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge

Situated in a client setting, Bright Horizons have collaborated with Addenbrooke’s Hospital, but welcome all families in the area to the nursery. There is plenty of space for children to learn and explore, with five bright and airy age specific rooms.
Each of the five rooms offer each age group their own specialised activities and equipment to support their learning and inspire their interests.
The well-qualified team of highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced staff work together to provide a well-balanced programme of fun activities and learning experiences.
A carefully planned curriculum, alongside a unique Ready for School programme, helps foster an enjoyment of early literacy and maths. Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians Enhancements, help children to recognise letters, words and numbers in their environment, becoming confident learners.
The nursery benefits from a large, recently refurbished garden for children to enjoy playing freely all year round. The children are encouraged to play outside and in the sand, ride their bikes, and have stories read to them in the ‘magic story area’.
There is an easy parking area with 30 minutes’ free parking in limited bays near the Frank Lee Centre. All-inclusive fees mean that you have less to pack on a busy morning, with everything from healthy lunches and snacks to branded nappies and wipes included.
The nursery was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted (Feb 2020) for their commitment to high-quality childcare and education, with elements of outstanding.

It was absolutely fantastic when my son's key person handed us the folder with his latest works for Christmas and his growing booklet with all his activities and related pictures. We were very grateful to see our son in that lovely and friendly environment, always having fun.

My daughter has thrived since joining the nursery. She absolutely loves going and is a lot more independent. She enjoys spending time with her friends there. The teachers are kind and approachable. The back garden is an added bonus for outdoor activities.

I highly recommend Bunnybrookes. Our son has been there since 11 months old. We see children communicating articulately, interacting confidently with everyone and loving books, drawing, craft and all kinds of play. The well-trained staff are passionate, positive, inclusive and well-loved by all. Individual
activity reports are recorded for each child. Displayed outside each room is an impressive range of activities - the children cannot possibly get bored. The large outdoor space to the side of the building has an excellent range of play and learning equipment. Weather-permitting, the children go outside a couple of times per day including during the shorter winter days. Three varied and tasty daily meals are provided. Safeguarding is good with all accidents, illnesses and treatments recorded, notified by phone when necessary and signed off by parents. Access to the building is through several key-code doors.

I would definitely recommend Bunnybrookes. Not only do they look after children very well and show them everyday love. We found them very knowledgeable about children development and receptive to parents' worries. With their great experience, they help children to come out from their shell and fully
show their potential and character. The manager has extensive knowledge and experience in methods and means which could help children to overcome anxiety related to being in big group for the first time, being with other peers. They built a very good foundation which should benefit the child in the future.

Bunnybrookes is a fantastic nursery - the staff are well trained and deeply care about the development of the children they look after. The facilities are fantastic, and our daughter enjoys being there very much. If you work at Addenbrookes the location couldn't be better. Would definitely recommend.
The
only real downside is that the garden isn't directly connected to the nursery building, but the children still spend a lot of time outside.

Bunnybrookes is a fabulous nursery with exceptional staff and a wonderful family feel. Originally I was a little sceptical as the nursery space is quite small but despite this, they engage the children in a multitude of activities and take them out to the garden several times a day. I actually think
the smaller space works in favour of the children as rather than being lost in huge spaces they interact constantly.
My little boy adores going - in fact, I think he would like to be full time - his key worker is brilliant and as for the other staff, he cannot speak about them highly enough even going so far as to pretend to be them at home and make my husband and I participate in nursery activities!
The food is also another great part of this nursery, they provide exciting meals for the children and the cook staff are also firm favourites for my son. Overall, I cannot fault Bunnybrookes and my son absolutely adores it.

Bunnybrookes staff has always been kind and caring to our daughter and us. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they have gone the extra mile on several occasions.
We will miss them when she leaves to go to school next September.

Great hours to fit around working times. Staff always happy and responsive and really attentive towards the children. Great activities and let kids be kids! Lovely having food prepped and given to them so parents don’t have to think about it, and encouraging to hear that my child will eat different
foods at nursery which he may not have at home. Thank you Bunnybrookes!

Very happy with Bunnybrookes, my daughter started very shy and didn't speak much when there, now she is in the preschool room she is very confident and enjoys going to nursery, she has made friends and talks about the nursery nurse team in preschool. 2 of my other children also attended Bunnybrookrs
and they also enjoyed their time there.

Both my daughters (18 months and 4) have always loved going to nursery, ever since they joined when they were 9 months old.
The staff are fantastic - from day 1 they have all been so great with the girls. In the baby room they very quickly ‘got’ them and any specific preferences they had whether it
was how they go to sleep or their eating habits, which was really reassuring straight back from maternity leave. I have always felt so reassured that they were in good hands, were happy, engaged and above all safe.
I have always appreciated the staff's endless patience and enthusiasm for tackling whatever developmental stage they are at, and they do this in partnership with me as the parent. I genuinely feel like they love the children and enjoy their jobs.
My eldest starts school in September and I know she is going to miss her teachers very much and the fun they have together. They have gently guided her through preschool and prepared her for her next step.

We love Bunnybrookes!
My little boy has gone from being quite nervous and clingy to getting obviously excited about going to nursery.
The team are great with him and I take comfort in knowing he is being cared for like I would.

Our daughter has been going to Bunnybrookes for the last three years. The care and attention the staff have shown to her over this time have been amazing. She is very happy at the nursery and has lots of friends that she will miss as she moves to school this September. The staff have been really good
at helping her to adjust to this, and she's told me on multiple occasions that she will have some new friends when she goes to school.


She is challenged to pursue her interests and plenty of other activities besides. I was amazed recently when she started putting me in the recovery position - thankfully just practising but also somewhat reassuring.

We have been sending our daughter here since May 2016 and she has loved every moment of it. She has gained so much confidence since being there. The rooms are always clean, the staff are so friendly and polite.


The reviews we get each day when we pick her up are informative about what she has been

doing along with whether she ate her meals etc. It also helps us with choosing activities for her at home as we can concentrate on something new she may have learned from nursery.


She eats better than we do at home! The meals sound amazing and she tends to eat it all so we don't have to worry about dinner time when we get home for her.


The only slight negative is the garden. She gets a lot of time to play outside, which we love the idea of, but it needs improving. I have heard on the grapevine that this may be getting 'revamped' so if this was to take place I'd up the rating to an Extremely Likely recommendation. I'm a strong believer in outdoor play so it's an important part for us.

My daughter has attended since she was 1 and will finish in August to start school. We have been very happy with her care there. She loves the preschool room and it does feel very much like the other children and staff are her extended family. Many of the staff have been there during her time there
and all the staff seem to know her by name. They are always attentive to individual needs. I have been particularly impressed with the preschool room, she is having great fun while she is learning.


We will all be sad to leave!

My daughter has attended this nursery for nearly a year now. She settled down quickly and is extremely happy there. The staff are very welcoming and keep me updated with my daughter's whole daily activity, which is great. They prepare fresh food every day and make sure the kids eat it. They organize
the kids day very well, in a manner that they won't get tired or bored. Every evening they organize the Kids room and wipe clean the toys for the next day. I am amazed at the staff patience, kindness, enthusiasm and their daily paperwork for the kids' record books. As a parent I feel very happy for my daughter learning in a healthy environment and I strongly recommend this nursery.

Our son, who has been attending this nursery for just under 2 years, absolutely loves coming to nursery and has done since he started.
Our son and his key worker have a fantastic relationship and we couldn’t ask for anyone better for him.


All staff are excellent in their communication with us about

our son's progress and regularly offer meetings to discuss his development and what his learning needs are.


We are provided with photos of our son's day which is lovely to see and make a great keepsake for us to have. Our son receives a varied day between activities and garden time and we are amazed at the learning activities provided by staff.


We are extremely happy and grateful our son has access to a variety of cultures and languages from your staff. It’s a great learning opportunity for children to experience the different cultures at such a young age.
We can’t thank the staff who care for our boy enough. All the staff show their care and compassion on a daily basis and it’s clear they love working with the children.

If you work at Addenbrooke's then Bunnybrooke's is ideal as it is right there on site. My daughter currently has an excellent key carer who goes out of his way to make sure my child is happy and cared for as well as entertaining her with new games, educational toys, books and songs. The food is excellent,
she always eats very well when she is there and they are happy to accommodate different dietary requirements/parental dietary choices. The parent's feedback is very good with photos of how much fun my child has been having during the day. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming, I would definitely recommend this nursery to anyone working at Addenbrooke's.

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2004

My name is Deborah. I am the Nursery Manager of Bunnybrookes Day Nursery.


I have worked in the nursery since 2004. I completed my NVQ Level 3 and then became the room leader of our Preschool room. I then took over the role of Deputy Manager in 2013 until I became the Nursery Manager in October 2021.


In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children. I spend most of my weekends watching them both play football and spending time with family and friends. I do enjoy travelling and experiencing different cultures- and try to visit as many places as I can.

My name is Naomi. I am the Deputy of Bunnybrookes Day Nursery.


I have worked in the nursery since 2010. I completed my NVQ Level 3 and then became the room leader of our Preschool room. I then took over the role of Deputy Manager in 2022.


In my spare time, I enjoy going to the gym, reading, visiting museums and socialising. My passion is cooking and experimenting with different foods and recipes, which I bring into the nursery to support our children with the ‘Creative Cooks’ curriculum.
