Very welcoming and friendly nursery. Inclusive and accommodating of parent and child’s needs.
Great, flexible indoor and outdoor space in a newish build.

Staff are kind and caring but also very responsive and adaptive to children’s needs with regards to activities daily.

Plus imaginative initiatives always seem to be flowing to keep us all engaged, have fun and grow.

-Daughter attending for 2 years and son for 6 months.
-Very happy and impressed with their development and believe they have learnt so much - especially our daughter's speech, understanding and social skills
-The staff really care about all the kids and both of our children are very comfortable with them all and trust them.
-The meals come from an off-site facility and are vegetarian based with good nutrition and a varied menu.
-Separate rooms for different age groups allowing for different levels of learning.
-Have a little garden that kids play in a lot and sometimes take them out to the local park.
-No webcam facility - not required in our opinion but you may feel differently.

-Not sure how price compares to other nurseries, it is a significant outlay each month but this is true of all childcare options - we know for certain that our children are happy, well cared for and are developing well so it couldn't be spent any better for us.

Both my children have attended Butterfly Nursery and both have LOVED their time there! The staff are all warm and approachable and the management is extremely flexible when I need extra hours from a whole day to just 1 hour. The garden is large and inviting and the rooms are age appropriate and fun. I recommended this nursery and have done so to other 'mummy' friends. Highly recommended.

My son went to Butterfly Nursery from when he was 8 months until starting school. Everyone at the nursery was wonderful. They nurtured and cared for him. He really loved it there and often says how he misses it.
No ask was too much and they were always happy to be as flexible as possible to accommodate any ad hoc care.

The place is built for a purpose which creates a great safe environment for the children and peace of mind as a parent.

Staff have been wonderful during my son's time at the nursery, they were very supportive and gave us lots of reassurance during the first couples of weeks when my son was very upset and didn't want to be left alone. They helped my son to grow into a very happy and confident boy. They are very professional, caring and friendly, always happy to advise and help.

A very good nursery. They grew to know my child very well and were patient and kind with him during his more difficult phase (now happily resolved!). They gave lots of feedback and photos via Tapestry.

We found the billing system confusing at times but this resolved in the last couple of months.

My daughter first went to Butterfly Nursery when she was 8 months old. I have seen the staff develop her and encourage her over the years, to make her into a confident girl. They are excellent at teaching her the skills she will need for school life. The nursery is a happy friendly place and I would recommend the nursery to any parent. It's been a pleasure to have her there.

I’ve been working within our nurseries since 1993, and I am the Head of Trust Nurseries across all three of our wonderful SCFT sites.

My early years journey began with an NNEB qualification in 1986, and more recently, I completed my PTLLS training in 2019. I absolutely loved this course; it gave me a massive passion for mentoring and supporting the brilliant apprentices across our teams, helping them grow into confident early years professionals.

My journey with our nurseries began back in 1992, with a brief intermission to achieve my BA (Hons) in Sociology and Social Policy and build on my experience in community safeguarding.

Today, I am proud to be the Safeguarding and Prevent Lead for all of our nursery settings. With my background in social policy, a NAMCW qualification, and PTLLS training, I also have the wonderful opportunity to heavily oversee and support the education of all our apprentices.

I am the Trust Nurseries Operational Lead for the three SCFT Nurseries.

I have worked within the nursery since 2005, when it opened.

I have a CACHE Level 3 Childcare (Certificate in Childcare and Education), which I gained in 2003.

I really enjoy creating exciting, messy play activities for the children to enjoy.

I am a Makaton instructor, and Makaton is a foundation tool that is used daily within the nursery. I am also currently working towards my Level 5 childcare qualification, as I am dedicated to bringing the highest standards of professional knowledge and practice to our nursery every day

I’ve been a part of the nursery team since 2010. I completed my Level 3 Childcare Diploma while working at Butterfly Nursery and absolutely love what I do.

For me, the most rewarding part of the early years is developing that special bond with the children, helping them grow in confidence before they take their big step into school. I am also a Makaton instructor and make sure it's used every day as a foundational tool to support communication across the nursery, and I am working towards my Level 5 childcare qualification.

Abbie O'Brien Job Title: Deputy Nursery Manager Joined: 2016
Abbie O'Brien

I joined the nursery team in 2016, right after completing my CACHE Level 3 Childcare certificate at Varndean College.

These days, you'll find me in our fantastic 2-year-old room. We have created a safe, vibrant environment tailored just for this active age group, allowing them to learn and develop at their own pace. Because we know starting nursery is a major milestone, we love working with families to mirror home routines, ensuring a smooth, comforting, and happy transition.

I love continuing to learn, and I'm currently studying hard towards my Level 5 childcare qualification!

I have been part of the nursery team since 2017 and hold a CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce.

I am based in our baby room, where I love sharing amazing experiences with our youngest learners. We spend a great deal of time in our large garden, and it is wonderful to watch the children discover the magic of the changing seasons as they explore how our outdoor space grows and evolves throughout the year.

I’ve been a part of the family here since 2019.

I completed my apprenticeship right here at Butterfly Nursery, gaining both my Level 2 and Level 3 childcare qualifications along the way. I love that I was able to grow and learn on the job, and I use that experience every day to create a happy, supportive environment for the children
