The Old Station Nursery Faringdon is an exceptional nursery located in a listed, converted railway station. The nursery offers exceptional care, enriched by unique learning opportunities for your child. One such experience is child-friendly cooking classes, helping to equip children with valuable skills and deeper knowledge of the cooking process.

As the first nursery in The Old Station Nursery Group, the setting has become a flagship for excellent childcare in Faringdon since opening in 2002. It’s renowned for high-quality care, reflected in the qualified, passionate, and child-centred team, and is also proud to hold the Millie's Mark award, received for commitment to paediatric first aid.

The nursery has three dedicated rooms, each helping children grow into confident and unique individuals. Under 2’s begin their journey in the comfortable baby room, where they can explore and learn with a range of age-appropriate resources, including mirrors, musical instruments, and toys. As they gain confidence, they transition to one of the 2-3-year-old rooms, where they can continue to learn through heuristic play and natural resources. When children turn 3, they transition to the Pre-School room, where structured sessions prepare them for school transition.

The outdoor environment is an essential aspect of the nursery, with frequent trips to parks, libraries, and other local attractions. The nursery also has plenty of garden space, where children can run around and play together.

To enhance children's natural curiosity and promote key skills, knowledge, and attitudes, the nursery offers a 'Brighter Learning Approach.' This approach intertwines with the core curriculum provision, offering real opportunities for children's learning and development.

Absolutely fantastic nursery! Our son attends the baby room, and he adores it. The staff are so friendly, kind and helpful. We feel that our son's overall development has really blossomed, and that is down to attending nursery. The amount of activities that they get up to is great, and the wide variety

New to the nursery as of February 24. We have had a good experience so far, all the staff seem very friendly and helpful. Her key person is exceptionally fantastic. Great experience and a nice environment.

Our daughter has been attending this nursery for just over a year. She has come leaps and bounds since attending and it has been wonderful watching her confidence grow. I feel this nursery is very nurturing and the staff are kind and caring. They have put on some really well-thought-out events which
we as a family have also been able to attend which has been so lovely. We couldn’t have asked for a better nursery for our daughter. Highly recommend.

We have been so delighted with the nursery since our daughter started at the age of 9 months. She is now two and thriving under the care of the wonderful team. Everyone is so kind and affectionate towards her, it's like she has another family. It's clear that the nursery staff really care about the
children and go out of their way to ensure their happiness and well-being. My daughter has learned so much and loves all the activities, especially messy play. I've also been very happy to see that the children get plenty of time outside, even in winter.

A phenomenal group of people who work so hard looking after our little people. We’ve never had an issue with The Old Station Nursery Faringdon, we’ve always found them to be helpful, supportive and friendly. They’ve gone above and beyond for the extra help our little girl needed and she waltzes in every
morning with barely a look behind. Her key worker understands her brilliantly and genuinely cares about her. We’re so lucky to have found a place where we feel so comfortable and homely.

Our son has been at Old Station House for 9 months now and we are so impressed - the staff are kind, warm, friendly, and affectionate towards our son - they took time to get to know him well and to tailor activities and even meal times/schedules to him to make him comfortable and help him settle in.
They are also kind and friendly to myself and my husband! They have a sensible settling-in program which helps new parents and children get used to a new environment and new routine. The meals are healthy, homemade, and varied. The activities are imaginative and varied. The festive program was so lovely and the staff seemed genuinely excited to make every festive period (we've experienced Halloween and Christmas so far) special for the children. The communication and updates on the app are well organised, regular and very much appreciated. We have watched our son flourish under the baby room's care - his language and cognition have improved so much and he has such confidence - thank you.

Overall a lovely nursery and the facilities and staff are great but communication has been really poor lately - being told a photographer is coming the morning that they are there and will only be there for the next few hours; Christmas card orders not taken; details of the Christmas party only sent
the day before; no reply to emails and I think we only had two photographs the whole of last year. I fully appreciate that taking care of the children is more important than sending photos but it would be nice to feel a bit more engaged. The toddler room could do with a bit of a refresh but I understand that that is due to happen soon. With a bit of work on communication and engagement, it would be perfect.

Room staff are wonderful, going above and beyond. Lots of activities including trips to the park. Lovely facilities, including a library. However, staff retention gets steadily worse, and communication is poor, especially surrounding billing. Mistakes get made, but trying to get a sensible response,
particularly from the billing team, is excruciating. At this point, I wouldn't recommend it to friends, I find trying to communicate with the setting too frustrating.

Our child has been in the baby room now for three months, and all my initial fears have been eradicated. She is loved and cared for so well by the baby room team; they always make such a happy big deal of seeing her in the mornings and waving her off in the evening. It’s the individual touch that makes
it so special; she’s not just a number, and I thank all the baby room team for helping both the parents and baby to settle in so well!

Really happy with the care my daughter receives. She enjoys going there and has made good progress. We have, on occasion, had admin-related problems but that seems to have been resolved now. Our daughter loves her key worker so will be sad when she eventually moves up.

I have never felt happier or safer leaving my son in anyone else's care. The staff at Old Station Nursery love and care for him so well. The activities they do are fantastic! He loves the food and always has the best days when he goes!

The individual staff members of the nursery particularly the baby room are brilliant. They are very caring, approachable and understanding, both our children have settled well and love attending. We would love a bit more communication in terms of how our preschool child is developing and general feedback.

We are in our third year at the nursery and we are very happy here. Considering that this is the only nursery in Faringdon for younger children, we are very lucky with how good the nursery is. The staff seem to genuinely care about doing a good job, and my son considers the staff to be his friends.
The children have lots of different activities, have French lessons and yoga lessons, and even occasionally go out on little outings. The nursery celebrates lots of seasonal and cultural events, as well as life events at the nursery, for example when a member of staff gets married or gets a dog, it's made into a fun learning experience for the children. This nursery is in a different league to the one I went to as a child!

We absolutely love The Old Station Nursery, Faringdon. My son loves it here and the staff in the preschool are all just amazing. He’s learnt so much and has come on so well. The staff are very reassuring and professional. I can’t sing their praises enough.

Lovely experienced staff who really care about the children.
My little one loves it there and is progressing and learning so much.
Great relationships between key workers and children, lots of activities and fun. Very thorough handover every day. Regular pictures on the app. No closures or staffing
issues, no high turnover of staff. Lovely nursery, we love it there.
Seems a good menu and variety of food!
Lovely clean open space and even has air con in the baby room!

It’s my second child to go to the Old Station nursery. They both went to the baby room. The facility is very nice, with high ceilings with a lot of light, nice, new toys for the kids, they have a separate room for the little ones to sleep and they have a small patio for them to play outside. All the

Hello, I'm Steph and I'm the Nursery Manager here at The Old Station Nursery Faringdon. My qualifications include a BA Hons, Early Childhood Development.


Faringdon was our first nursery and has seen many children develop and grow over the years. We offer great care and education and many local schools comment on being able to tell a Reception-aged child who has come from The Old Station Nursery.
