The company is named after its founder – Penny Scotton – and continues to adhere to her vision of offering; ‘the very best in childcare, learning and fun’

Purpose-built to their own specification and opened in 2005 between Maidstone and Bearsted this site hosts nursery services and a home for Breakfast, After School and Holiday clubs. Air-conditioned and equipped with under-floor heating and two fully fitted kitchens; parents describe Newnham Court as ‘welcoming.’ It is bright and lively with extensive gardens and outdoor play facilities. Newnham Court was graded as good by Ofsted (March 2022).

Pennies are just fantastic. The staff are amazing with all the children and so friendly too. My daughter always talks about her ladies in her class throughout the week, and come Friday, she’s already asking to go to school! When it comes to leaving your child when you have to work, it can be scary,
but in the hands of these ladies at Pennies, I am at ease and peace of mind she’s safe and having the best day with all the facilities in their rooms and the beautiful garden! Thank you for making us feel extra safe during this pandemic, you are all fantastic, and I couldn’t recommend Pennies enough to anyone thinking about enrolling their child.

Pennies are an extremely important part of our disabled son's life. They adapted policies and procedures to accommodate us when he was 2 years old starting out in the nursery of Pennies and then again for their Pennies Kids Club, even putting in a stairlift to make his stay there all-inclusive and accessible.
We loved the Pennies structure of learning and play, home-cooked meals and snacks to outings. Pennies is an extremely friendly, professional and caring setting, fun learning, inclusive play, and attention to the child's individual needs, which is so important and they provide it all.

Leaving your children at any time is daunting, but trusting people outside the family in the middle of a global pandemic is next level. I can honestly say, hand on heart, there is nowhere I feel more comfortable leaving my son than at Pennies. They take all the necessary precautions without worrying
the children, spend lots of time playing outside, eat good home-cooked meals and our boy always comes home with lots of stories of what he's got up to. Thank you to all the staff at Pennies who make everything work so well. Especially to the staff in pre-school who make leaving our boy each day, that little bit easier.

My son started at Pennies in September, my first impression was clean, tidy, professional but homely. My gut instinct told me to wait for this nursery over another and I’m glad I did! I've never had any problems getting him to go in and his teachers are amazing with him. He often talks about his teachers
at home and has learnt so much in just a short amount of time. My favourite thing is the motto no weather is bad weather, my son loves jumping in puddles and playing in the rain, the children have a lot of outdoor time which I think is important for them. The children always seem happy when going in and coming out and my son has made many friends. The nursery have handled the pandemic extremely well and I have no worries about my son's safety when he’s there. The staff wears masks and there’s hand sanitizer at the entrance. The children are in their class bubbles and it works really well. My son has formed a lovely bond with his teachers and the other children in his bubble.

Pennies is an excellent nursery and my daughter absolutely loves it there! Unfortunately, my daughter started during the Coronavirus lockdown (having just turned 1 year old) but the whole team did an incredible job at ensuring myself and my daughter felt comfortable and were supported fully throughout
her settling in sessions. From her very first day, her huge smile and utter excitement was clear for everyone to see. I can see my daughter loves the staff too which is so lovely to see. They are always informative at the end of the day updating me on her activities etc and keep me up to date online through Tapestry so I'm aware of her progress and learning. Pennies have amazing facilities, it's a wonderful space and they have a huge outdoor garden. Would 100% recommend!

I have two children who attend Pennies at Newnham Court (3 years old and 7 months old) and can honestly recommend this nursery to anyone. Both of my children started in the baby room between 6-9 months of age, which is unnerving for any parent but the staff at Pennies have been absolutely brilliant
with both of them. Nothing is too much trouble and the care they provide to their children is fantastic. My son has developed so much in the last 2 years and I can already see my daughter picking up new skills after each week. Fab nursery!

Such a fantastic place. The staff are all fantastic and so friendly. My son was in a really small setting before and was worried he would find it overwhelming but he has settled so well and absolutely loves going to pre-school, and is preparing him really well for big school next year.

Cannot fault this nursery. It’s truly been a great experience and I will be placing my baby at the nursery along with my two-year-old, who has been attending since he was 10 months. Pennies quite simply have been an extension to our family. We couldn’t have navigated the early years without them. Both our kids attended Pennies from 1 year old, through to after school and holiday clubs. Brilliant people, fantastic all-purpose site (outdoor spaces is amazing, the kids love it!).

I can’t praise Pennies and the Pennies staff highly enough for the high level of care, safety, learning and play they provide for my daughter. We’re so glad to have the peace of mind that we chose the perfect preschool for our little one. She absolutely loves her time at Pennies, her key people and

Unfortunately, my daughter's year at Pennies was cut short due to the pandemic - but every day she spent there otherwise she loved! The staff at Pennies made everyday fun, and even on tough days for my daughter or us (as I was heavily pregnant at the time) they were supportive and welcoming. The pandemic
was handled very very and safely and never did I worry for our safety. My youngest daughter will also attend preschool when she is of age because we loved it so much!

My journey in the Early Years started 25 Years ago; 20 of these years have been in a Management position. I have worked with all age groups from 3 months through to 11 years. I strongly believe in the best for every child, and that every child should be acknowledged as a unique individual and given the opportunity to flourish to their full potential.


I believe myself to be level-headed in all aspects of the business and operations, and I enjoy focusing on the development of my team, casting vision, and giving the team the education and tools they need to create a rich environment for the children to thrive within.

Hi, my name is Claire and I have worked at Pennies since 2004. I hold a diploma in child studies and CACHE NVQ level 3 and 4 in children’s care, learning and development. I have thoroughly enjoyed my years at Pennies working my way up to a management position where I am able to help and support staff with their professional journey.


Over the years I have looked after children right from babies up to 11 years but I particularly enjoy the older children in our out-of-school club. Hello, my name is Paige, and I am one of the Managers at Pennies Newnham Court.


I have had a long working career in childcare, starting as a nursery practitioner, working my way up to management. I studied early childhood studies at university, and through my studies and many years of experience, I have a great deal of knowledge and skills in the early years sector. Above all, I have a burning passion for the early years and pride myself on creating outstanding learning environments for every child in my care.


I believe that every child benefits from a nurturing, caring environment where they are encouraged to flourish and supported to achieve the best outcomes.
