We have nothing but positive things to say about this nursery. We moved our son (3 years old) here from another nursery where he wasn’t very happy. The staff have looked after him and been very mindful of the change for him. He can be shy/sensitive at times but they have made him feel welcome and included. He tells me about the different activities he competes and he loves playing in the garden. We have now moved our daughter (1-year-old) here too and she loves it. Best decision we have made.

My child is about to transition to her next room after being cared for in the shooting stars baby room. I was hesitant to send my little one to nursery due to her being a lockdown back but I am so pleased that I did. Her key worker and all of the staff have been amazing. They are so caring, attentive and just lovely people that I have had no hesitation in leaving her in their amazing care. She is naturally a shy child but she loves going there. I would definitely recommend this nursery to anyone considering sending their little one.

The best nursery and preschool in the area. Both of my daughters love to go there. Teachers are amazing. I love the space indoors and outdoors. Kids do lots of different activities every day, I like the fact that they spend time outside every day, no matter the weather.

Excellent team, caring and loving. My oldest was very happy to play and learn at Pennies Day Nursery back in 2020/2021. Now my little one goes with the same pleasure. The way he says “I am missing my teacher” think it speaks itself how special every child feels in the setting. Highly recommend.

We work hard to build bonds with individual children and get to know them as the unique little people they are, so your son "missing" his teacher is a good sign that we've got to know him well.
My girls have attended Pennies Day Nursery Newnham Court for the last 7 years since they were babies. I always know that they will be well looked after, well fed and most of all have lots of fun! The reception staff are also helpful and understanding and make the effort to learn the children's names, which is lovely to see. I'd highly recommend Pennies to anyone looking for great childcare that isn't limited to term time.

It's a difficult thing leaving your child in the care of another and return to work but we know he has so much fun with the team and his friends at Pennies Day Nursery.

Two members of staff have been nothing but amazing to my child, they’re easily contactable and happy to discuss any concerns you have. My daughter has the most fun at school and absolutely idolises everyone who works there. The girls in the offices who answer the phone are also so bubbly and happy to help with anything! I have already signed my boy up for when he turns three.

Hi, my name is Sarah-Lou, and I started Pennies at Hockers Lane in 2001 as a Level 3 Practitioner. Before joining Pennies, I worked for another family-run company, and during this time, I completed a Level 2 and 3 NVQ in Childcare and Education. In 2005, when Newnham Court opened, I decided to take a new post there. During my time at Pennies, I have gained experience working with children from 3 months old to 11 years old. I have also had 2 children of my own, Millie and Jake. In 2016, I took on a Development Coordinator role at Pennies, which allowed me to work with all 3 nurseries and to support each setting with their CPD. I came back to Hockers Lane as Deputy Manager, and in 2026, I moved to Newnham Court as a Deputy Manager.
