Rowan Tree day nursery is a happy nursery where every child is treated as an individual. Much of the character of the building has been retained to provide spacious and interesting rooms with first class facilities. There is a discreet CCTV system which enables parents to view their children when they first settle into nursery life, and an intercom system for security.

Brightly decorated rooms provide children with the opportunity to grow and develop through a stimulating and sociable environment. The children can enjoy the outside in the spacious garden, stocked with a variety of equipment to promote all areas of their development with a secluded garden for babies with safety flooring. Rowan Tree has a fully qualified Forest school leader and has started a Forest School Programme with the pre-school children. They have also achieved their Green Flag Eco-Schools award four times now.

A friendly and enthusiastic staff team work together to ensure high-quality child care is provided.

Our son has really bloomed in the last few months and Rowan Tree has played a large part of that.
He is ready to go to 'big school' now and I feel he is ready both academically and emotionally. The staff both in the office and in his room, have been fantastic with him and he is going to miss them all.

All 3 of our children have attended Rowan Tree Day Nursery since they were babies, on a continuous basis over the last 10 years. They have formed friendships with the staff and children, had a great deal of fun learning opportunities and been loved and cared for. The food is excellent and has given
them exposure to a range of flavour and textures.


Additional needs have been catered for with effciency, love and compassion. Parents are kept well-informed with parents evenings, seasonal events and weekly emails. There are outings and to round it off, a fabulous graduation ceremony! Our children have been enriched by their time at nursery and left, ready for school. Very sad to be leaving.

Both my children attended this nursery from about 14 months old. My son has just left as he will be going to school. I really think the nursery is excellent. The setting is lovely, the activities are educational and fun and the staff are enthusiastic, caring and skilled. My son has flourished in this
setting and he is now ready to go to school with confidence and the ability to integrate with other children and adults. I would highly recommend the nursery. It has benefitted both my children immensely. I want to pass on special thanks to all those in butterflies.

I have been using this nursery for over 3 years now, with both my sons attending from around 9 months old. I looked at a lot of nurseries, and in fact had chosen another nursery initially, but I found that they didn't seem to enjoy my child. I have never once found this at Rowan Tree, I have always
found the atmosphere to be extremely friendly, and all the staff seem to genuinely enjoy working with the children. My children both have very different temperaments, and both have been accommodated in a way that made them feel secure, me feel reassured, and them also challenged to improve on areas where they were struggling. Any issues I have had have always been taken seriously, and dealt with in a timely manner. The menus are varied, and even my eldest picky eater eats well there.


It's so difficult to find somewhere that you are comfortable to leave your baby (especially your first!) but I have been more than happy with Rowan Tree, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

I am very happy with the nursery, with the care provided, outstanding communication between a parent and a teacher. Great communication between a child and a teacher, very relaxed atmosphere, very friendly staff and helpful staff.

Our son has developed very well at the Nursery. Without their help I am not sure how well we would have coped we weening our son, he can be quiet stubborn. Now he smiles when he is passed to them. I have found the staff very professional and respectful. I would recommend them.

We have had both our children in Rowan Tree Day Nursery since 2012. As parents we have always been impressed with the level of care and commitment that the nursery has provided our family. My child absolutely loves Rowan Tree Day Nursery and your staff are the best I have seen in all the 10 years my children have attended nursery/childcare. All of the team in my child's room are fantastic and it will be a sad day when she leaves.

Lovely caring staff, good clean facilities and cosy homely atmosphere, good communication with the parents, inc organising things like first aid course and providing with detailed reports on the kids activities during their time at nursery verbally but also in the form of the learning journals with

My son has recently moved up to the ladybirds room after a fantastic time in caterpillars. Due to illness he struggled to settle initially but the care, kindness & support shown by the caterpillar team was outstanding and has continued throughout. He is clearly treated as an individual and his interests
are encouraged at every opportunity. The staff are all incredibly caring, even the team in the office always take the time to greet & chat with my little boy. He really enjoys going to nursery & I would thoroughly recommend Rowan Tree to any parent.

My daughter started attending the nursery this year in the caterpillar room and I have been impressed ever since. The friendliness and professionalism of the staff is fantastic, with a real focus on care, attention to detail and wanting to engage with the children. From day 1 its clear the emphasis
that is put on each child's development and ensuring that they are treated as individuals and not part of a group in a room.


I would thoroughly recommend this nursery to anyone looking for somewhere to send their child to.

Claire is the Manager of Rowan Tree Day Nursery in Welwyn Garden City and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early years sector for 20 years.


Claire has an NNEB in Childcare and has worked for Childbase Partnership for 19 years.


What is your favourite feature of Rowan Tree?
My favourite features of the nursery are the roof garden for our babies and the Art Studio for our Pre-School which has been designed using the Reggio approach.


What are you most proud of about your nursery?
I am most proud of our team. We have a very highly motivated team with a low turnover and dedicated staff who have been with us for a number of years.
