Tops Day Nursery - Winchester is located near the Royal Hampshire County Hospital and Winchester University.

This nursery is part of a group that provides the most eco-sustainable childcare and education in the UK, being respectful of the environment and acting to reduce, re-use and recycle resources is an important part of the culture and routine for the children and staff.

The team of staff offers happy, nurturing care for the hours parents need. The nursery offers flexible hours and parents can book to the nearest 15 minutes, to allow them more choice over childcare.

The staff provide a safe and stimulating environment for children from three months old until they reach school age. The nursery is open from 6am to 8pm, subject to demand.

Tops Day Nurseries has a number of extracurricular activities such as Tops Cooking School, Tops Forest School, meditation, yoga, Rugby Rangers, Boogie Mites, tooth brushing and much more.

Tops Winchester can offer 15 funded which is available for two, three- and four-year-olds and 30 hours for eligible families.

While each child is at Tops Winchester, families are always welcome to call as often as they like to discuss their child's progress and day at nursery.

Important information such as sleep times, nappy changes and milk and food intake is recorded by staff and included in a daily report on EYLOG.

The nursery group has a no-added sugar menu in all its nurseries, offering children a nutritional, healthy diet early in their lives.

We had to change settings very quickly due to house moves. Tops Winchester have been great at helping our child settle during a period of challenges and changes. I'm very grateful to all the staff for making him feel so welcome and happy.

I have my daughter attend Tops Winchester, the staff are so friendly and attentive to her needs. The food is amazing value and caters for her diary free needs. She’s come on leaps and bounds, her development has exceeded so much since being with the nursery! She loves the staff and all the children!
So glad to have chosen this nursery for her.

All of the staff we have come in to contact are attentive, caring and have our little girls needs at the heart of all that they do. She loves attending nursery, so much so that we have chosen to put her in for an extra day. Her development has come on leaps and bounds since being with them.
Our little
girl has multiple food allergies (some severe) and she has to carry an Epipen. I was understandably anxious when she first started but these fears were almost immediately eradicated and they cater for her brilliantly. We love Tops Winchester.

Attentive to needs of the child.


Clear goals and targets on curriculum - stimulatory play to help the child reach their target.


Could have a better handover process - e.g. writing down specific care needs for the child when parent/guardian handover so that all those involved in their care are

aware. Sometimes information can be missed.

We first noticed Tops as we began visiting Winchester maternity ward. The colourful fence around the garden caught our eye and the garden was often full of children who sounded like they were having a great time. When we went for a look round we were very pleased with the facilities. The best thing
about Tops is the staff, they are caring, welcoming, professional, informed, and great at communicating with us- be that in person, on email, or via the app that sends us pictures and updates of how our baby is doing.


We’ve found it quite tough handing our child over to new people to be looked after, sometimes for 10 hours in a row, all the lovely staff at Tops have made this as easy as it can be. Our daughter has really bonded with her key person, and waves and smiles at the other staff too. It’s also great how flexible Tops are and what great value for money they are, we couldn’t be happier.

The staff at Winchester Nursery are fab, particularly my daughter's key worker who has a fantastic rapport with her. The staff are always upbeat and friendly whether it’s 07:30 in the morning or 19:00 when we pick up.


They come up with lots of different activities to keep the kids entertained come

rain or shine and really make the most of the space they have. Our daughter's development has come on leaps and bounds in the last 4 months, and nappy changing is no longer a battle since they taught her to help with the process.

I am very happy with tops day nursery Winchester. They have been amazing with my twins. They are settled in very well and love this nursery. Staff are always brilliant and helpful with advice and very supportive when needed for anything like potty training etc.

Topps Winchester- My daughter has always been very happy here. The staff clearly are enjoying looking after the children and the children reciprocate this by in turn feeling very comfortable in the nursery environment.

The staff here are wonderful, they care for our child and have made us feel very secure in leaving our daughter with them. She is always so excited to see them and they are great at consoling them if they aren't very happy. My daughters keyworker has been amazing and I would of never felt so able to
leave my child if it wasn't for her. The nursery is quite small but feels like a family with everyone working and playing together, great atmosphere.


My other daughter is starting tomorrow and had her introduction last week she loved it and didn't worry at all when I left (I had tears)! When I returned she was smiling, laughing and had a great time, it's so reassuring to know they are in good hands.
Management are also great we have known them for a particularly long time, they were so kind and let me and my husband do training there as part of our adoption process. Tops have such great staff and I have recently recommended them to a friend who is starting her daughter there in April.

Awesome staff, great environment. My daughter has developed very well here and we intend for our son to go here too. Messy play is encouraged and extra activities such as food school and outdoor clubs are good value. Highly recommended.

Wonderful staff are always welcoming, my daughter gets excited every time she goes. She happily tells us of her day and who she has been playing with.


EyLog updates keep me up to date on what she has been up to that day, as well as photos and videos of her.

Our 3-year-old grandson is staying with us for six months and attends Tops Day Nursery 2 afternoons per week so that he has a change of scene and a chance to meet and play with other children of his age. (it also gives us a rest!)
He settled in very quickly and soon found things to do that were to
his taste. The staff have been very caring and have given him individual attention which is a great help as he doesn't yet speak much English. However he seems to be learning fast, and his buddy teacher has prepared a plan to help develop his English.
We do also appreciate the progress reports with photos and videos which they provide on the eyLog system.
Overall we are very pleased with the approach of the staff and management and feel confident that we can leave our grandson in their hands without worry. Whenever we have had a small query or problem, they have responded quickly and competently.

Really pleased with Tops Day Nursery - Winchester, all the staff are helpful, always cheerful and always seem to be in control.


The Ey-log is a great facility and I find it very reassuring that he always seems to be doing various different activities and that the team are monitoring his progress.


I

also notice things at home that obviously my son has picked up at nursery which is great to see.


Would recommend if I knew anyone who would benefit from the service.

My son (2 years) looks forward to going to nursery and always has stories to tell when I pick him up. I love the fact that they offer flexible hours that I can confirm as late as the Tuesday the week before. No other nursery offers that in Winchester. I look forward to the daily reports to see how my
son is progressing and very happy they are now running a much better nutritionally balanced menu.

My daughter loves Winchester Tops Nursery. She looks forward to seeing the staff and her friends there. She is now a confident happy child who walks in to the nursery and looks forward to her routine. The staff are very friendly and understanding of my daughters needs and encourage her learning through
many different activities. They support my wishes to provide lunch and inform me of everything she does throughout the day.

Such a wonderful Nursery. The staff have created a fantastic environment for children to play and learn. Our daughter absolutely loves going to nursery. The children are constantly doing new and well thought out activities which are both fun and educational. All of the staff are always very friendly
and have what seems like endless energy and enthusiasm. The nursery promotes healthy eating and living, which I have been so impressed by. They routinely encourage teeth brushing and offer a well balanced nutritious menu. They spend lots of time taking the children outside to play and now our daughter is a bit older, she regularly gets taken on little outings. We regularly receive updates via the EY log containing photos and videos updating us on what she has learnt. Overall, I couldn't recommend TOPs Winchester more highly. It is a fantastic nursery as a result of the wonderful staff that work there.

All three of my boys have been to tops in Winchester and my youngest is there till Sept. My boys have a lovely friendship with their key worker and the rest of the staff. My boys will miss the nursery a lot after September and so will I.

Our little boy will be leaving Tops Day Nursery - Winchester this year after being there for 4 years. Over the 4 years, he has come on immensely and as parents, we were nervous at first to leave him. But he soon gained confidence in his teachers which also gave us as parents confidence when leaving
him. His skills have developed and are developing all the time.
