Purbrook Day Nursery & Pre-school

Could not be more impressed with Purbrook Day Nursery. My daughter started there a few months ago as a transition from another nursery. They have made us both feel extremely welcome, my daughter loves going to nursery and learns so much more easily now. It’s great to see her engaging with others and playing so well!

My son has had settling sessions and even though he’s worried about going in everyone has been great with making him feel comfortable and he comes out so happy.

The progress our daughter has made over the summer with her communication and reasoning skills has undeniably been linked to the hard work and tailored care given by the team at Purbrook. Interests she is showing at home are actively encouraged at the nursery delivering a personalised experience based on our child’s individual needs and preferences at the time. This is on top of a varied and interesting collection of activities set up on a daily basis by the team. She always comes home happy having had an entertaining day. Top marks all around.

My son has been so well-received at the nursery and he is absolutely thriving. We are kept informed daily of his activities and progress, the carers always make time to give us day updates at pick up and the activities children are engaged with are diverse and interesting. The two gardens offer a lovely outside space. The food is healthy and freshly cooked on the premises. The opening hours are perfect for working parents. My daughter attended this nursery a few years ago too and I had no hesitation choosing them for my son as well. This nursery is a happy and safe space and I am grateful to all the staff for making it so.

Additionally, emails are replied to promptly and any conversations that we have had have always been constructive and positive. I’ve always been happy with the outcome.

Great nursery. The baby snug is so good for their needs and the team is super dedicated. The manager is always there to help with anything that is needed and willing to adapt to my child's needs. Age appropriate activities are always planned to help the child learn and have fun.

When my daughter joined at 11 months old, I was immediately impressed by the brand new and secure environment. What truly stood out to me was the exceptional staff. Every team member genuinely cares for our children and ensures they have a fantastic time. I would definitely recommend Baby Snug for their commitment to safety, caring staff, and wonderful environment.

My son previously attended until going off to primary school. My daughter is now attending the Purbrook setting. We love the garden space and the various indoor areas. The addition of the new baby room is superb. Overall the experience we and our children have had has been brilliant. They have a great team at the nursery and they always make sure the children have lots of fun through play.

The communication has always been good, especially with their key workers at pick up and drop off.

I don't usually write reviews but I'm doing it on behalf of my 2 year old son and would like to thank all the team at Purbrook Day Nursery & Pre-school for their kind attention and support with my little pumpkin! I like chatting to the staff about his day and they're always positive and smiley which is refreshing and very welcome after a long day. Keep up the good work and a heartfelt thank you on behalf of my little boy.

Very good nursery. The staff are lovely and very supportive. They look after my fussy son very well and help him to improve his eating. The facility is clean, tidy and very cosy. The manager is professional and communication is very easy. We are going to miss that place and those people very much

My eldest daughter has been attending the nursery since we relocated back to the UK last year from overseas and our soon to be 6-month-old daughter will be joining her in September. I’m feeling confident that she will settle in well knowing how great the last year has been. All the staff are very friendly and genuinely caring. Communication and updates are regular and it has always been easy to arrange a face to face chat if I’ve needed to speak to her key worker or one of the management team. My daughter is happy and enjoys nursery days often chatting about the many fun activities provided and going through all of the names of the staff and other children she interacts and plays with. The food offered is varied and nutritious and we have really appreciated the cook catering for specific needs of our daughter at different times. The main outside area is looking great and we’re excited to see the new baby snug which should be open in the coming months.

Our two year old has been at the nursery for a year now and absolutely loves it. The staff are so friendly and brilliant with the children. They take the time to understand each child and their routine and nothing is too much trouble. Plenty of space indoors and outdoors for children to play. The staff are very hands on creating different activities every day. I've not got a bad word to say about this nursery and highly recommend it!

My daughter has been attending Purbrook Day Nursery and Pre-school for nearly a year and she loves it! She really likes all of the staff and the other children. The staff work hard to involve the community by holding events like their Summer Fair that included a petting zoo which my daughter was so excited about. I'm very happy I chose this nursery!

An amazing nursery in the Purbrook/Waterlooville area! We actually had my son in a different nursery close by, but moved him to Purbrook after a bad experience - I can honestly say this is by far the best nursery in the area. The staff stay at the setting for a long time (which shows the management treat their staff well) and they are all really caring. In particular, two staff members are so supportive and really care about the children. The activities they do are fantastic (hatching chicks at Easter, growing vegetables in the garden, newts in the pond, visits by the emergency services, petting zoo visits, teddy bear picnics... the list goes on). I love that they have their own in-house chef for lunch/dinner - great variety of meals. My son has progressed so much with his speaking, manners, putting his toys away, listening skills since he has been at this nursery. 5 stars!

In the short time my child has been at Purbrook Day Nursery, the staff in the baby snug and in particular her key worker has been nothing short of amazing. They have made my return to work so much easier by knowing she is in safe hands with staff who are kind, caring and so responsive to her needs. She already knows her likes and dislikes and tends to these so well - they have such a lovely relationship and she has never found it difficult to say goodbye to me.

She and the other staff are so patient and will happily adapt to cater for her being tricky at times! This includes when she has found it difficult to wean or get herself off to sleep. Her key worker makes sure she is always the first face she sees when I drop her off which reassures us both! All baby staff provide exciting opportunities for the children to learn and explore and are so nurturing. I would highly recommend this nursery as one where the children will thrive.

My daughter joined the nursery 2-years ago; she had a very rocky start and really hated us leaving her, but the staff were outstanding with the care/love and distraction techniques, and after just a few short weeks, she absolutely loved going. No tears, no upset. Now at the age of 3, she can't wait to go! The staff were so much fun and were so engaging while she was in the toddler group; now she is in preschool, she doesn't even say goodbye; she just wants to see her keyworker and play games! The managers are brilliant and keep us up to date with everything in their newsletters or when we see them on drop off/pick up. We can't recommend the nursery enough.

My son attended the pre-school up until he went to school and he absolutely loved his time there. We loved the fact that activities were geared towards what the children like and my son had the best time. My daughter has now been attending for the last 7 months and also loves it. She settled so well into the baby room and got so excited whenever we mentioned some of the staff. We always felt comfortable knowing she was well looked after and having a good time, and each time we picked her up it was amazing to see how much she had learnt.

The staff are all brilliant with the children, the food is great and it is wonderful seeing our daughter try new things. They are also happy to answer any questions and always quick to respond which is really reassuring. We can't fault them!

My son has been attending the Preschool for 18 months. He absolutely loves his days there. The staff are so knowledgeable about the curriculum and the activities they provide for the children reflect current best practices. The manager always responds promptly to any queries we have and we feel she knows our son really well. He always talks about the learning he does with one of the staff and says he does brilliant voices when reading stories to the group!

We recently attended the Open Day and I was amazed by the wonderful new outdoor space and facilities they have. They have a real focus on natural materials, small parts play and lots of wonderful learning opportunities with living animals like chicks, tadpoles and fish. Our son loves the free reign they have when playing outdoors and being able to play outside in all weather. During the Open Day, I tried some of the dishes cooked by Lorraine. The jerk chicken with mango salsa was delicious. Our son is a fairly fussy eater but he always eats well there.
