A large and bright nursery in Chigwell

Situated in one of their client settings, Bright Horizons has partnered with the popular David Lloyd Leisure Club. Chigwell nursery welcomes all families in the area, and provides exceptional care and education to children aged 3 months to 5 years.

The well-qualified team of highly motivated and experienced staff work together to provide a well-balanced programme of fun activities and learning experiences, within a carefully planned curriculum.

A unique Ready for School programme fosters an enjoyment of early literacy and maths, with Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians Enhancements helping children to recognise letters, words and numbers in their environment.

The children benefit with freeflow access to the garden, which gives them the chance to explore and extend their learning outdoors.

The nursery is next to a large nature reserve that the children make the most of in all seasons for nature discovery, walks and picnics.

Safety is their number one priority. All practitioners are First Aid trained and all nurseries have specialist SEND staff for children who require additional support due to special educational needs.

A fantastic nursery, the staff are caring and my child thoroughly enjoys his days there, he attends the baby room, he is happy and always smiling. They take great care and pride in assisting his developmental needs. As a parent it’s great to see the daily feedback and pictures that show how much of
a bond he is building with the staff and his friends.


The nursery has evolved during our time attending, it has a fantastic vibe and uplifting atmosphere.


It is evident that the children, families and staff are happy and engaged and I feel that this is a fantastic setting for my son.


The management team and staff are always friendly, engaging and striving to make the nursery the best setting for your child. They are always available to assist with needs and questions and always make you feel welcome.


The location is amazing with lots of outdoor space in a rural setting allowing the children to enjoy the outdoors and fresh air.

Our youngest is on the autistic spectrum and whilst he has a calm temperament, we struggled to find a nursery that would even allow him to visit for a trial.
With Bright Horizons we had a completely different experience. From day 1, Our son has been treated in an exceptional manner and his development
has come a long way. The nursery team have made a concerted effort to help him integrate, and feel comfortable and loved, something that we have noticed over the last year.
The other children interact well with him and always greet/say goodbye when he arrives which helps us as parents to have peace of mind about how he is viewed.
The manager, deputy manager, team that looks after his class, kitchen staff, and janitorial team are all professional, extremely courteous and always very kind to our child.
This is a nursery that I would recommend to any parent in the area as they are a definite cut above the rest.

My child has been with Bright Horizons, Chigwell since just after his first birthday and is now 3 years old and in the preschool room.
His journey with Bright Horizons has been amazing, from his first settles where the staff were very welcoming and reassuring helping us through the most anxious moments
and starting his journey, through to toddlers where he really started to develop and enjoy a wide range of activities with the ladies and now in preschool where he has really come into his stride. At every stage, the girls have genuinely given me the reassurance that our son is looked after as though he is one of their own, so much care, attention and love is given and so much thought into the activities and learning that has really helped our son develop and excel. The management are always very approachable and always very involved with the day-to-day and their efforts show how well the nursery is run and the atmosphere of a true home-from-home and family vibe you sense. Truly outstanding.

My 3-year-old twins have recently started at Bright Horizons, Chigwell Preschool and I couldn't be happier with our choice of nursery. From the communication in getting them enrolled, to the brilliant settling-in schedule, everything was easy to get in place. The staff, from management to key workers
are amazing professionals who clearly enjoy what they do and always find time to speak to you as a parent. The app is a great resource and is updated comprehensively throughout the day, which is fantastic for parents to see. There is a great curriculum and educational focus, alongside play and learning key social skills. My children have really come on in only a few weeks and love their preschool days. I'm so far delighted with our experience.

Our daughter has been at the nursery for two years and over that time she has moved through four rooms and three times as many key workers. She is happy and talks enthusiastically about her time at nursery, but you can’t help but wonder what all the staff changes do to the continuity of care for the
children. Just as they get close to a teacher, they leave. Communication/handovers have also been an issue (too brief or entirely lacking), but it seems to have improved of late which is a positive sign that the nursery is listening to parents’ needs. The nursery has good wall displays and the children have a rich learning environment (definitely in the older age rooms). The outdoor space is very good and the children are given lots of time to play out there. Overall, this nursery has had to find its way again and I think staff retention is still an issue, but the children are cared for.

The nursery is absolutely fantastic for my little one. He started here when he was 9 months old and after a wonderful settling in period, he loves nursery now. The staff are wonderful and take so much care and attention. I am worry free knowing he is in great hands. All staff and management are super
helpful and friendly and genuinely want to help and just say hello, which makes it so warm and personable. Getting to see the updates throughout the day helps so much and enables me as a parent to see what my child is doing. The variety of food and cleanliness is great and just what we want to see as a parent. The nursery has sufficient car parking so I can easily drop off and pick up my little one without worrying about where to park. Outstanding service and care overall and could not be happier that my little one goes here.

We have been a part of the nursery since March 2020 and it was always a great, friendly environment. There has been a change in management during COVID and either as a result or alongside it, a lot of volatility with staff and resourcing which is somewhat concerning.
Communication could be better on
a daily basis as with the introduction of the app daily updates were promised on what the kids are doing and photos etc however this is not the reality. That said my little girl seems very happy in the setting and appears to be well looked after, hence an additional star to what would have been a three-star review.

Have sent my children to this nursery for fiver years now. The setting is good, with lots of parking and garden space. There has been a couple of changes in management over the years, with varying success and changes but generally, all at the nursery strive to be excellent childcare providers. The baby
room, in particular, is excellent- the staff has always been friendly and extremely hardworking.

We joined this nursery in September 2018 and it was such a friendly “family first” nursery. Sadly it lost its way during Covid and despite new management being put in place, staff has continued to leave in large numbers. My daughter had six keyworker changes in the last twelve months, four of those
in the last three months. It has lost its friendly family feel, there is no consistency, and meetings with the management have failed to offer any reassurances. We felt we had no alternative but to move the children elsewhere.

When my son started off at Chigwell Bright Horizons, I couldn’t have been happier.
However, after a change in management and a few nursery staff leaving the standards have really gone downhill I’m afraid to say.
COVID rules are not being followed, resulting in many COVID cases within the nursery.

My child commenced nursery during the first lockdown, and whilst it was extremely daunting as a parent, the staff were incredibly supportive and made the settling in period easier than expected. My daughter received exceptional care and support from the staff.

My son has attended this nursery for 2 years and my daughter recently started too. I am so happy that I decided to send them here out of all the places we visited I knew straight away that this was the best place for my son and he has thrived there. He always goes in with a smile and the staff are so
kind. Both of my children take part in different activities every day and spend lots of time in the fantastic outdoor space. We also receive their artwork and photos of what they have been up to during the day. Since the start of the pandemic, the nursery has had to make lots of changes and adapt to the challenges brought about by COVID-19 but the one thing that hasn’t changed is the high standard of care received by my children. I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff that look after my children and have helped us keep some normality in their lives especially the keyworker who has spent a considerable amount of time with both children and always gone above and beyond to ensure their happiness.

My son has been attending this nursery since he was 4 months old. I cannot praise it enough.
He is now 3 and absolutely loves going. He runs in with a huge smile. He is inundated with new activities, games, praise, kindness and wholesome meals. I always receive a full account of his morning, what he
has eaten, when he went to the toilet etc alongside many photos and paintings. The nursery has been a safe haven for him during this tumultuous time and I will be ever grateful that he has had the chance to safely play, express himself and have friends. Bright Horizons Chigwell is a fantastic daycare. Management and staff are brilliant, and my daughter has had the best time here.

Our daughter is new to the nursery but we have found that generally she has settled very well, which I think is primarily thanks to two members of staff who have been great with her.
We are always kept updated on her progress and how she’s done each day. Where there is an issue or something not in
line with our pre-agreed schedule, etc. they are quick to communicate with us and offer suggestions or just informing us as appropriate.
All staff we have found to be lovely and personable throughout which is very warming as a parent.

I am extremely pleased with the progress my daughter is making at this nursery. She only attends for funded hours but in that time is given so many varied activities to do and that too all tailored at her level/needs. The staff are very approachable and responsive to my queries. I really feel like we
are working as a team in the growth of my child's development. The staff (her room manager) are never hesitant in speaking with me for a minute o two regarding my daughter. The team in Starfish are amazing, very friendly staff at the front desk, always a smiling manager. Since she has moved into Starfish it's only been 2 months and thanks to the room manager she has made my daughter blossom into a confident, explorative and mature little lady.

I couldn't be any happier with the nursery. It is a fun, safe and nurturing environment and the staff genuinely seem to care. The activities are structures and educational and suited to my child's needs. I recommend the nursery to lots of other people. Any small issues I've had have always been quickly

With over 16 years of experience and with a CACHE Level 3 in Childcare and Education, Ruhsan began her career as a nursery nurse and steadily progressed through various roles throughout the nurseries before becoming the Nursery Manager. For the past 6 years, in her position as a Nursery Manager, Rushan has showcased her dedication and expertise in the field. Having worked with Bright Horizons Shortlands and Bromley in 2009, Rushan joined the Chigwell team in January 2021.


With a deep-seated passion for delivering exceptional care and education, Rushan is committed to coaching, motivating, and supporting her team to achieve excellence. She places great emphasis on forging strong partnerships with parents and strives to create an environment where every child can thrive and realise their full potential.

I have been with Bright Horizons since 2019 starting out as a senior nursery nurse at the Chigwell Valley Meadows setting. I quickly worked my way up to Third in Charge in 2020 and I have now recently taken on the role of Deputy Manager and setting SENCO here at our Chigwell setting.


I have 10 years’ experience working in the Early Years sector where I started in 2012 whilst I undertook my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Studies, I then progressed onto further studies embarking on a Master's in Early Childhood Education. I am extremely passionate about supporting children’s learning and development through the early years.
