Absolute Angels nursery was established in Coggeshall in 1999 and has been providing outstanding Montessori pre-school education for nursery aged children from 2-5 years old ever since. Founded by Sarah Rowledge, who in March 2018 was awarded the 'Outstanding Contribution to Montessori Award' at the Montessori Conference in London.

Providing happy, friendly and safe care within a Montessori environment situated in a beautiful converted church in the centre of Coggeshall village. They were very happy to be able to open their doors again on 1st June 2020 to after the first lockdown and have not looked back since, welcoming old and new faces to the nursery.

Staff are passionate about Montessori and witness time and time again how this approach to nursery education has such a profound impact on children at such a formative stage in their learning. The 2015 Ofsted report highlights just how successfully Montessori education fosters the progress and development of pre-school children.

Adopting the online programme My Montessori Child (which is fully secure & encrypted), parents are kept fully informed of their child’s development and see weekly photos and observational notes.

  • Fees 2024/ 2025:
    Morning session 9.00am – 12.30pm £32 per session.
    Nursery day 9.00am – 3.00pm £52 per day (children bring a packed lunch).
    Full day 8.00am – 6.00pm £79.50 per day (children bring a packed lunch and we provide breakfast and a light tea).
    Early morning care runs from 8.00am to 9.00am at £7.50 including breakfast and you can extend the day from 3.00pm until 5.00pm for £15.00 per session or to 6.00pm for £25.00 per session including a light tea.

  • Unlike some other nurseries we operate on a termly basis with the option to choose the length of day that suits your family. Some children come for a combination of mornings & shorter days, others come for full days and there is plenty of flexibility to match your childcare needs. Each term is between 11-13 weeks and the daily costs above are what you are paying for those weeks. We also operate a holiday club so children can come on a full time basis but for lots of families they use the holiday club as required and love the fact they are not paying for a service they don't always need especially if their older children are on school holidays.

  • The public carpark, which is free, is conveniently located directly behind Absolute Angels with access via the left hand turning on Stoneham Street at the Library. Parking is also available on the other side of Stoneham Street Monday to Friday (excluding Thursdays for Coggeshall market).

I can not praise this nursery enough. I sent my eldest to Angels a day after she turned 2 and felt apprehensive, was she too young? Was this right for us both? The staff couldn't have been more supportive to us both. So so glad to say it was absolutely the right choice. She is now a confident bright
little being and loves nursery. My youngest starts in January and can't wait.
Such a kind, nurturing team of staff with all aspects of my child's learning and progress relayed back to me at the end of every session and on the online journal. I feel that I'm on the journey with her rather than missing the moments as a parent you feel guilty and sad for missing.

Sarah Rowledge

After a wide ranging career that spanned fashion and entertainment, as soon as I came in to contact with Montessori education, I was hooked. By April 1999, I first opened the doors of Absolute Angels to children and subsequently we have created pre Nursery Little Treasure Classes & Baby Massage courses in Coggeshall.


I have felt incredibly privileged to witness the amazing development of the many, many children who have attended Absolute Angels.


In recognition of almost 20 years dedication to early years and primary education, unerring peer support across the country, and simple exemplary practice, I received the prestigious Outstanding Contribution to the Montessori Community Award in March 2018.


Over the years I have also trained and continue to do so, hundreds of Montessori practitioners through our training company Hands On Learning both in early years and primary Montessori training courses.

Carole Burr

I followed in the footsteps of my two sons, who both came to Absolute Angels before I did. (They are now 23 and 21.)


When I first started working at the Nursery, I didn’t really intend to do any training, but I was so fascinated by the Montessori approach to education that I decided to find out more.


I was awarded my Early Childhood Teaching Diploma in June 2008. I have worked here for sixteen years, and have been Nursery Manager for eight.


Although I enjoy my mainly office-based job, I love getting the chance to spend time in the classroom with the children.

My two children attended Absolute Angels from two years of age, and ever since, I have had an interest in the Montessori philosophy.


I decided to train in 2014 and obtained my level 2 Montessori Foundation certificate and joined the team in the same year. In 2019 I joined the Level 4 Montessori scheme which I hope to complete in December this year.


Working at Absolute Angels is always inspiring and fun, and the children teach us something new every day.

Katie works alongside Carole in the office three days a week.


I first became interested in the Montessori philosophy when I was fortunate enough to undertake my work experience at Absolute Angels during its first year of opening. During this time I was amazed at how effective the methods were, and enjoyed seeing the children in a classroom that let them be free to succeed and learn without restriction or criticism.


When I left school I stayed within the learning and development field, working as a Training Manager for the Probation Service for many years. However, I always hoped that one day I would be able to have a career that involved Montessori teaching in some way.


When a job came up at Absolute Angels in 2016, I applied straight away and was fortunate enough to start working in new my position in August 2016. My main role is in the office, supporting the Nursery Manager with the day to day running of the nursery. I also help in the classroom with the children, as well as running the breakfast club and School’s Out After School and Holiday Clubs. I love the variety my role brings and enjoy the interaction with the children every day.


I completed my Level 2 Montessori Early Years Classroom Assistant qualification in May 2017.
