Absolute Angels nursery was established in Coggeshall in 1999 and has been providing outstanding Montessori pre-school education for nursery aged children from 2-5 years old ever since. Founded by Sarah Rowledge, who in March 2018 was awarded the 'Outstanding Contribution to Montessori Award' at the Montessori Conference in London.

Providing happy, friendly and safe care within a Montessori environment situated in a beautiful converted church in the centre of Coggeshall village. They were very happy to be able to open their doors again on 1st June 2020 to after the first lockdown and have not looked back since, welcoming old and new faces to the nursery.

Staff are passionate about Montessori and witness time and time again how this approach to nursery education has such a profound impact on children at such a formative stage in their learning. The 2015 Ofsted report highlights just how successfully Montessori education fosters the progress and development of pre-school children.

Adopting the online programme My Montessori Child (which is fully secure & encrypted), parents are kept fully informed of their child’s development and see weekly photos and observational notes.

  • Fees 2024/ 2025:
    Morning session 9.00am – 12.30pm £32 per session.
    Nursery day 9.00am – 3.00pm £52 per day (children bring a packed lunch).
    Full day 8.00am – 6.00pm £79.50 per day (children bring a packed lunch and we provide breakfast and a light tea).
    Early morning care runs from 8.00am to 9.00am at £7.50 including breakfast and you can extend the day from 3.00pm until 5.00pm for £15.00 per session or to 6.00pm for £25.00 per session including a light tea.

  • Unlike some other nurseries we operate on a termly basis with the option to choose the length of day that suits your family. Some children come for a combination of mornings & shorter days, others come for full days and there is plenty of flexibility to match your childcare needs. Each term is between 11-13 weeks and the daily costs above are what you are paying for those weeks. We also operate a holiday club so children can come on a full time basis but for lots of families they use the holiday club as required and love the fact they are not paying for a service they don't always need especially if their older children are on school holidays.

Absolute Angels was our first choice of nursery for our youngest son when we moved to the area from Australia in August. We researched Montessori nurseries in the area online before we moved and Absolute Angels appealed to us the most. We absolutely made the right choice! The staff have been so welcoming
and really helped us to navigate the childcare system in the UK. Our boy looks forward to going to nursery each day, Absolute Angels really is his happy place. I would highly recommend Absolute Angels to other parents, you can be sure that your little one will be well cared for in an environment that is nurturing, positive, and always encouraging of children and their families. My daughter has been with the nursery for over two years now and is so happy with the setting.
She has a good structure in the setting and it's great for us to receive key updates on her play and learning experience.
My daughter has built up some wonderful friendships with the other children and
is very fond of her key worker of whom she talks about regularly.
The nursery are great at keeping us up to date with daily activities and what the children do every term.
We get the opportunity to go to parents evening see talk about our child's development. The nursery have also been very accommodating and flexible to our requirements as shift workers which has really helped with the odd day we've needed to put our daughter in for nursery outside of her regular hours.
The premises is also kept very clean and the children spend a lot of time outdoors which we love!
All in all a great setting offering everything we need.

Lovely staff who are engaging, helpful and friendly and its really good to see my child learn and thrive when in their care. I ask every day what has been leaned and the response I get from my child is great to hear.


The facilities although in an old building are outstanding and the way my child

learns is new to me but seems to work well for my child. The team are extremely helpful and are on the ball. Sarah and Katie go over and above letting me know what has happened through the day.


The dinner she gets does not tend to change week to week and is generally not very imaginative, ie baked potato or pizza and veg. At my child's previous nursery the food was more imaginative and healthy (freshly made from scratch lunches and dinners with plenty of veg and fruit). I also try to limit refined sugar and salt in my child's diet (within reason for a 2 year old) but not sure if this is considered here however.


Overall, a truly brilliant nursery but think the food could be more nutritious.

My daughter has gone from a timid girl who wouldn't go to anyone or play with anything on our induction morning to such a confident competent happy girl.
Always runs in with a smile in the morning, and is so happy to tell me all about her day when I collect her. I love that they go above and beyond
with extras such as visits from people in the community, trips out, sports days and Christmas concerts. Would 100% recommend.

My son loves going to Absolute Angels. He cannot wait to get there on the days he goes - if it was up to him he would go every day! Angels is an amazing montessori. The staff are incredible, knowledgable and kind. Both our girls are thriving there and so happy to go. When we went for an open day straight away we felt that this was the nursery for our little boy. We felt that he could learn so much there, not just learn the numbers and letters but practical stuff that you would need in life but also have fun there and meet new friends for life.
The staff are very
professional and lovely. Very caring and helpful. I would 100% recommend the nursery to my friends and anyone who wants to know that their children will be in good hands.

This is a fabulous nursery, we have seen our son flourish here and become a confident, happy and curious person. We moved him from another nursery to Angels and we can see the difference it has made. The staff are caring and encourage independence in the kids and know all the children as individuals.
We would highly recommend Angels Montessori in Coggeshall.

We are delighted with the caring and nurturing environment that is established at Absolute Angels. We feel so comfortable dropping off our daughter in the knowledge that she will be cared for and supported by the amazing staff who form what feels like a family at the nursery. The staff are absolute angels! They provide any parent with the support, kindness and reassurance anyone would need when dropping off your child. You can walk away knowing your child is in a safe and secure environment. When I looked around the nursery a calm and positive atmosphere was my experience
and that is a continued feeling 2 years on. They are all very friendly and communicate clearly any concerns they have but in addition listen too.
They fulfil the children's day with fun and stimulating activities which create a foundation of learning and building new skills.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Absolute Angels to anyone!

To send our daughter to Absolute Angles is the best decision we have ever taken for her. We couldn't ask for more from Angels. Our boy (2) loves the staff and settled really quickly despite starting full time at 2y 1mo, thanks to the support offered by the nursery to help prepare him for the transition.

We absolutely love our nursery. We moved our son over from another nursery because so many people in the village raved about them. Our son has grown with so much confidence since joining and we feel so comfortable leaving him there. They also offer extra activities that we wouldn’t get at other nurseries
such as nativity plays, trips out, and a sports day and also the children get visits from members of the community that relate to the curriculum. We have also really enjoyed the parent’s evenings where we can learn more about implementing Montessori learning at home to support our son’s development before school.
We will be so sad when our son has to leave to go to school in September, but also excited to sign our daughter up when she is old enough.
We also have found their pricing very fair- other nurseries charge for Bank Holidays or days that they are closed but this nursery doesn’t and it’s so much more fair towards the parents. They are worth every penny.

As a neurodivergent mum of two neurodivergent children, I had huge anxiety when it came to choosing a nursery for my youngest.
Absolute Angels was right from the second I walked in for a tour.
The staff go above and beyond to ensure that your child is calm, and content and has a nursery experience
tailored to them.
Not only that but as a parent they make you feel just as important and they feel like part of the family.
My son has absolutely thrived since being there and I only wish my eldest had gone there too! She’s 17 now and we didn’t live in the area to have known about it as an option.
The level of care and connection to your child is a level I couldn’t have dreamed of.
My son comes home every day chattering about his day and given he is speech-delayed it speaks volumes about just how happy he is there.
They aren’t just a nursery. They are a warm, loving, nurturing home from home.
I cannot recommend highly enough.

My son has been attending Absolute Angels since September 2023 and he absolutely loves his time there. The staff are all so friendly and helpful and my son settled in straight away.
He attends a long day, so gets to experience the breakfast club and after-school club and he loves all the range of

Absolute Angels is a truly amazing environment and my little boy has come on leaps and bounds since coming to this setting. The staff are very caring and create such a safe place for my little boy that he doesn't actually want to leave when it comes to home time! My son's key worker goes above and beyond
for my son and he is very happy when he sees her face at drop-off. We chose this nursery for our son because we loved the Montessori way of teaching and this has made my son extremely independent now being able to put on his own coat and shoes and has been so confident in wanting to potty train! I love that my son learns through play, he has learnt all of his colours and can count up to 10 at the age of 2! Since coming to Absolute Angels his speech has come along so nicely and he does not stop talking now! I cannot thank the team at Absolute Angels enough for all they have done for my son since he started here last September, we are so happy with this nursery.

The help and support we have been given since our youngest started nursery has been incredible, the staff really take the time to get to know each child individually and really support their interests and specific likes and needs. The children are taught a great deal of independence through the Montessori
approach to learning and it really is such a calm engaging environment for the children. The staff are great at supporting children and getting them ready for their transition into school and parents are kept informed and up to date on their child’s development. It really is a great setting.

Sarah Rowledge

After a wide ranging career that spanned fashion and entertainment, as soon as I came in to contact with Montessori education, I was hooked. By April 1999, I first opened the doors of Absolute Angels to children and subsequently we have created pre Nursery Little Treasure Classes & Baby Massage courses in Coggeshall.


I have felt incredibly privileged to witness the amazing development of the many, many children who have attended Absolute Angels.


In recognition of almost 20 years dedication to early years and primary education, unerring peer support across the country, and simple exemplary practice, I received the prestigious Outstanding Contribution to the Montessori Community Award in March 2018.


Over the years I have also trained and continue to do so, hundreds of Montessori practitioners through our training company Hands On Learning both in early years and primary Montessori training courses.

I followed in the footsteps of my two sons, who both came to Absolute Angels before I did. (They are now 23 and 21.)


When I first started working at the Nursery, I didn’t really intend to do any training, but I was so fascinated by the Montessori approach to education that I decided to find out more.


I was awarded my Early Childhood Teaching Diploma in June 2008. I have worked here for sixteen years, and have been Nursery Manager for eight.


Although I enjoy my mainly office-based job, I love getting the chance to spend time in the classroom with the children.

My two children attended Absolute Angels from two years of age, and ever since, I have had an interest in the Montessori philosophy.


I decided to train in 2014 and obtained my level 2 Montessori Foundation certificate and joined the team in the same year. In 2019 I joined the Level 4 Montessori scheme which I hope to complete in December this year.


Working at Absolute Angels is always inspiring and fun, and the children teach us something new every day.

I joined Absolute Angels in 2018 having previously worked in another Montessori Nursery Setting. I have a real passion for Montessori and have a Level 4 qualification. As well as working in the Angels team I also help with School’s Out both in term time and running the holiday clubs.

Katie works alongside Carole in the office three days a week.


I first became interested in the Montessori philosophy when I was fortunate enough to undertake my work experience at Absolute Angels during its first year of opening. During this time I was amazed at how effective the methods were, and enjoyed seeing the children in a classroom that let them be free to succeed and learn without restriction or criticism.


When I left school I stayed within the learning and development field, working as a Training Manager for the Probation Service for many years. However, I always hoped that one day I would be able to have a career that involved Montessori teaching in some way.


When a job came up at Absolute Angels in 2016, I applied straight away and was fortunate enough to start working in new my position in August 2016. My main role is in the office, supporting the Nursery Manager with the day to day running of the nursery. I also help in the classroom with the children, as well as running the breakfast club and School’s Out After School and Holiday Clubs. I love the variety my role brings and enjoy the interaction with the children every day.


I completed my Level 2 Montessori Early Years Classroom Assistant qualification in May 2017.
