Absolute Angels nursery was established in Coggeshall in 1999 and has been providing outstanding Montessori pre-school education for nursery aged children from 2-5 years old ever since. Founded by Sarah Rowledge, who in March 2018 was awarded the 'Outstanding Contribution to Montessori Award' at the Montessori Conference in London.

Providing happy, friendly and safe care within a Montessori environment situated in a beautiful converted church in the centre of Coggeshall village. They were very happy to be able to open their doors again on 1st June 2020 to after the first lockdown and have not looked back since, welcoming old and new faces to the nursery.

Staff are passionate about Montessori and witness time and time again how this approach to nursery education has such a profound impact on children at such a formative stage in their learning. The 2015 Ofsted report highlights just how successfully Montessori education fosters the progress and development of pre-school children.

Adopting the online programme My Montessori Child (which is fully secure & encrypted), parents are kept fully informed of their child’s development and see weekly photos and observational notes.

  • Fees 2024/ 2025:
    Morning session 9.00am – 12.30pm £32 per session.
    Nursery day 9.00am – 3.00pm £52 per day (children bring a packed lunch).
    Full day 8.00am – 6.00pm £79.50 per day (children bring a packed lunch and we provide breakfast and a light tea).
    Early morning care runs from 8.00am to 9.00am at £7.50 including breakfast and you can extend the day from 3.00pm until 5.00pm for £15.00 per session or to 6.00pm for £25.00 per session including a light tea.

  • Unlike some other nurseries we operate on a termly basis with the option to choose the length of day that suits your family. Some children come for a combination of mornings & shorter days, others come for full days and there is plenty of flexibility to match your childcare needs. Each term is between 11-13 weeks and the daily costs above are what you are paying for those weeks. We also operate a holiday club so children can come on a full time basis but for lots of families they use the holiday club as required and love the fact they are not paying for a service they don't always need especially if their older children are on school holidays.

Our son is so happy at Absolute Angels, he comes home talking about his day and his friends. The team are all very caring and the environment is so enriching for the children and their development. Absolute Angels have exceeded expectations. The whole team are warm and friendly with a genuine passion for what they do and an interest in the children. Both my sons love their time at Absolute Angels and have built strong relationships with the team, with two members of staff in particular. My eldest
is now at school but has asked if he can attend the after-school club once a week due to his love of the team. With regards to development the boys have without doubt benefited from the Montessori style of teaching and gain so much each day they attend. The team are also very supportive of me and will always do what they can to help and support us as a family where they can. We all love Angels!

Absolute Angels is in my opinion the very best of the best. My daughter really struggled with leaving her family to start nursery and it was a worrying time for us. Every member of staff went out of their way to help and settle her in. The staff are simply brilliant. The result of their kindness, patience
and understanding is I now have a very happy little girl who literally skips in smiling for every session. Her confidence has increased tenfold and she will tell anyone (and everyone!) how much she loves Angels. As parents, we are fully informed by the nursery of everything she is doing and how she is progressing. My daughter is encouraged to learn for herself and her inquisitive mind is being stimulated. I could not ask for anything more. I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone.

We have sent all of our children to Absolute Angels and have found the care exemplary. The team are wonderful and have always shown my boys such love, care and attention as well as being knowledgeable and approachable. My son started at Absolute Angels in April 2022, aged 2. We chose Absolute Angels because of the expertise and care of the staff, the beautiful space and equipment and because we really agree with the Montessori ethos. Out of several local nurseries that we visited, it was the one that we had the best

Absolute Angels is such a special nursery. Our daughter started just after her second birthday, and instantly we saw a difference in her, she started talking and communicating a lot more as well as gaining more confidence. She took a little while to settle but the nursery did everything at her own pace
and soon it didn't take long for her to feel comfortable and stay for the whole session without issue.
The staff are so passionate about their jobs and go above and beyond to make any transition as gentle as possible. The ethos of Absolute Angels is everything that I would like my child to adopt. I'd recommend this nursery to anyone!

Our son joined Angels in September 2021 after we relocated to the area, so there was a lot of change for him. Angels were great with the settling-in process, giving honest feedback and excellent communication to let us know how he was getting on. The learning is structured to make it meaningful and
interesting to the individual child and this really shows when our son talks about nursery. He loves the experiments that they do, the themed weeks, and the little trips out and about! He’s clearly learning lots which is shown through his vocabulary and attention to activities. All the staff are so friendly and professional, we would recommend Angels to all parents!

Since my daughter started at Absolute Angels in September last year I have been really impressed with how caring, friendly and professional all the staff are. She was a slightly nervous customer to start off with and they went out of their way to help her (and us!) settle in quickly. She thoroughly
enjoys her time there and loves exploring the wide range of activities available to her. The communication by the staff is really thorough and the addition of the My Montessori site really helps us to get an insight into our daughter's time at nursery and her development with their curriculum.

Our son started in September 2020 aged 2 years. He settled really quickly as the environment is so well prepared even though there were changes due to Covid-19 policies etc.
All staff members (currently female) are amazing so patient caring and professional.
It is more expensive compared to conventional
nurseries however the Montessori materials available and concepts far out way the additional costs. Can’t recommend enough.

We were initially unsure whether to start our daughter at a nursery at the age of two as we were worried she maybe too young, however after going to view Absolute Angels Montessori Nursery (Coggeshall) we decided to give it a chance and we are so glad we did. She settled so quickly with the amazing
support of the extremely kind and caring staff who all radiate so much warmth towards all of the children. It wasn't long before she was asking every day if it was a nursery day and couldn't wait to get in the car to go. There is such a large range of different resources for her to choose from on a daily basis and she loves telling us about the 'work' she has been doing at nursery every day. The child lead environment has allowed her to grow in so much in confidence, independence and has already taught her so many different life skills that she can now do for herself. There are also great afternoon activities such as yoga, kitchen skills and her favourite 'Friday Dancing'. We couldn't ask for a better nursery.

Our son has absolutely thrived at Absolute Angels and I cannot recommend it highly enough! He literally cannot wait to get in there in the mornings and is so full of excitement when he comes out and loves telling us about his day. We’ve seen him develop in confidence and gain such independence since
being at Angels and the work they have done in preparing him for school is brilliant. We know he will start school with confidence and this is all credit to the staff at Angels. They treat the children with such kindness and respect and allow them to “work” on their areas of interest whilst also covering the necessary. He absolutely adores the staff at Angels and we know he couldn’t be in safer hands. Cannot recommend Absolute Angels enough!

The staff at Absolute Angels are so caring and compassionate, I knew my son would be well looked after. He did not want to go to nursery, but the staff worked with us to gradually settle him in. The nursery truly employ the Montessori approach as it was intended to be used, and my son absolutely loved
all the materials and learnt so much in his year there. In just a year he grew in confidence so much and was eager to start school. What I love most about the nursery is that they really observe the child and follow their interests, using these as a basis for teaching so that the child becomes absorbed in learning. My son also learnt so many practical life skills that helped his independence blossom. The communication between staff and parents is excellent and I learnt so much through the talks given by the principal that are offered regularly to parents. I would not hesitate to recommend the nursery to anyone.

Our son has attended Absolute Angels Montessori Nursery since he was just over 2 years old and we couldn't be happier with with it. We feel confident we are leaving him in a caring and happy environment that has a real family feel and genuine warmth. Unusually for nursery settings, almost all of the
staff have had their own children and their experience shows. The children's independence is encouraged but within a structured and supportive routine so they learn a lot; both in terms of practical skills and wider general knowledge. The older and younger children all benefit from having the opportunity to mix together. Communication is easy and excellent. We love that the children are encouraged to play outside and that sometimes they also pay visits to the local park to play. Our son also attends another setting but his preference for Absolute Angels is clear. Every day he asks whether he is going to his 'Big School' today and when he is not he is disappointed. I think that is the best endorsement for a setting you can get.

Sarah Rowledge

Diploma, EYP, QTS, Montessori Schools Association (MSA)


After a wide ranging career that spanned fashion and entertainment, as soon as I came in to contact with Montessori education, I was hooked. By April 1999, I first opened the doors of Absolute Angels to children and subsequently we have created pre Nursery Little Treasure Classes & Baby Massage courses in Coggeshall.


I have felt incredibly privileged to witness the amazing development of the many, many children who have attended Absolute Angels.


In recognition of almost 20 years dedication to early years and primary education, unerring peer support across the country, and simple exemplary practice, I received the prestigious Outstanding Contribution to the Montessori Community Award in March 2018.


Over the years I have also trained and continue to do so, hundreds of Montessori practitioners through our training company Hands On Learning both in early years and primary Montessori training courses.

Carole Burr

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2004

I followed in the footsteps of my two sons, who both came to Absolute Angels before I did. (They are now 23 and 21.)


When I first started working at the Nursery, I didn’t really intend to do any training, but I was so fascinated by the Montessori approach to education that I decided to find out more.


I was awarded my Early Childhood Teaching Diploma in June 2008. I have worked here for sixteen years, and have been Nursery Manager for eight.


Although I enjoy my mainly office-based job, I love getting the chance to spend time in the classroom with the children.

My two children attended Absolute Angels from two years of age, and ever since, I have had an interest in the Montessori philosophy.


I decided to train in 2014 and obtained my level 2 Montessori Foundation certificate and joined the team in the same year. In 2019 I joined the Level 4 Montessori scheme which I hope to complete in December this year.


Working at Absolute Angels is always inspiring and fun, and the children teach us something new every day.

Katie works alongside Carole in the office three days a week.


I first became interested in the Montessori philosophy when I was fortunate enough to undertake my work experience at Absolute Angels during its first year of opening. During this time I was amazed at how effective the methods were, and enjoyed seeing the children in a classroom that let them be free to succeed and learn without restriction or criticism.


When I left school I stayed within the learning and development field, working as a Training Manager for the Probation Service for many years. However, I always hoped that one day I would be able to have a career that involved Montessori teaching in some way.


When a job came up at Absolute Angels in 2016, I applied straight away and was fortunate enough to start working in new my position in August 2016. My main role is in the office, supporting the Nursery Manager with the day to day running of the nursery. I also help in the classroom with the children, as well as running the breakfast club and School’s Out After School and Holiday Clubs. I love the variety my role brings and enjoy the interaction with the children every day.


I completed my Level 2 Montessori Early Years Classroom Assistant qualification in May 2017.
