A homely and enriching nursery in Lewisham.

You and your child will love the home-from-home nursery in Lewisham. Caring, experienced staff, inspiring environments and exciting activities support your child’s development from the age of 3 months to 5 years.

Inside the nursery, the rooms offer age-appropriate resources and equipment to engage children and promote development at every age and stage.

The baby room offers a space where children from 3 to 18 months will be nurtured through the transition from home to nursery. The team will follow the routine you've established at home in a cosy and stimulating environment complete with a sleeping area and access to a secure baby garden.

In the toddlers room there are lots of different areas where children can explore and develop their natural curiosities. Catering for children aged from 18 months, the furniture and resources are designed to promote development and children can engage in a range of activities that are created to suit their individual interests. The room also has its own bathroom area to support your child with potty training.

The pre-school room is all about getting ready for school. Children aged from 3 to 5 years old take part in the Ready for School programme, which structures and brings into focus maths, reading, writing and other essential skills to ensure they are prepared for their next big adventure.

The team would love to meet you and your child, so book a visit today and they will show you all the nursery has to offer during your own personal tour.

Our son is extremely happy and settled in so well.
The staff have gone above and beyond to make sure all his needs are met. They let us do several setting in sessions so he felt confident in the nursery and with his key worker.
The staff are incredibly kind, approachable and simply brilliant with
kids.
We're delighted we Bright Horizons and our son loves it.

Finally a great new permanent manager and fantastic new deputy started last month. The new managers are very engaged and energetic.
The staff in the rooms are still great and my son is very happy. Sadly, the natural builder's sessions are no more (my eldest still talks about them 1.5 years after leaving
nursery) and have not been replaced. The Click IT lessons (that we paid for separately) have been cancelled but French and yoga have been reinstated as extra free activities. A positive addition is a ‘Ready for School’ programme to help with the transition. This has never been offered before.
Overall the nursery is overpriced. This year’s annual fee increase has been brought forward from June to April, with no explanation. This means we’ve had 2 big fee increases in less than 12 months. The nursery is now more expensive than other local nurseries that are all rated outstanding. I know that fees are set centrally by Bright Horizons but I don’t see how this can be justified.

Very friendly staff and caring atmosphere created for the children, everyone always greets each other by name.
I feel confident leaving my daughter in the care of the staff. I know they always act with her best interest and are very fond of her.

We are both delighted to see our son enjoying his time at nursery. Having moved to the area relatively late in 2017, the team have been brilliant in helping our son settle and it is clear that he is very happy to go in the morning - he comes home and makes us do sleeping bunnies on a regular basis.
We
are so pleased that our son is happy and would definitely recommend. Thank you for your help to date.

My son has mostly had an excellent experience in the baby room. The permanent staff are very kind and caring. We had a very shaky and upsetting first few weeks with terrible management, constant staff changes and a terrible atmosphere. The current room leader has turned things around and deserves a
lot of credit for working with existing and new, excellent staff to create a lovely environment for the babies. The new manager is also excellent and is making very positive changes to the nursery.

Awesome staff and really care for each and every child. They take time to speak to me everyday during pick up to brief me about the progress of my child and also on her day to day activities. My daughter took a long time to settle in, and the staff were understanding and helpful all throughout, and
how she is a happy bunny at the day care. Nice and safe garden for the kids to play in. Very good food for the kids and lots of activities.
I am sure every parent worries about putting their children into day nursery but I can 100% say that staff here will look after you children, help them develop and have a lot of fun on the way.

My son loves being at the nursery. Nursery staff are looking after him well and we are happy about that. However we are concerned about some areas. We've noticed high staff turnover last year especially in the baby room. There could be some improvement in staff management. Also children seem to be given
ipad sometimes in toddler room. We understand developing IT skills is important but prefer children to be exposed to other activities that they can't experience at home.

The room staff are what really make this nursery. Friendly and caring, I really feel they have my daughters best interests at heart and have done so for the two years she has been there. My daughter loves the yoga and French and the large garden, as mentioned by previous reviewer. I think the garden
in particular is great at bringing all the children of different ages together and there's a definite sense of Head Start community.

To make it even better, I'd like the nursery to find ways to link what the children do there with what they do at home; to structure regular feedback and help parents to build on children's learning at home more.

Thanks to them all for their hard work.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.567)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.567) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Lewisham Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.875 for Bright Horizons Lewisham Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (42 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.875
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.692 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Lewisham Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 63 number of registered child places is 12.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.6 = 0.317
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

With an NVQ Level 3 in children's care learning and development, I have worked with young children from the age of 3 months to 5 years of age. I have over 9 years of experience working within the childcare sector and throughout this time I have made it my mission to provide young children with opportunities and experiences that promote and support their development to the highest of standards and enrich their young lives during a time that is considered to be some of the most important years of their young lives, simply because birth to five matters and because I absolutely love what I do.

My journey with Bright Horizon Lewisham started on the 12th of April 2021. After a year of working as a room leader supporting my colleagues and providing exceptional care and education to the children within the nursery. I progress to the position of deputy manager, today my mission remains the same. To create an environment that offers families a high-quality childcare experience where young children are provided with opportunities and experiences that enables them to thrive and reach their full potential.
