A homely and enriching nursery in Lewisham.

You and your child will love the home-from-home nursery in Lewisham. Caring, experienced staff, inspiring environments and exciting activities support your child’s development from the age of 3 months to 5 years.

Inside the nursery, the rooms offer age-appropriate resources and equipment to engage children and promote development at every age and stage.

The baby room offers a space where children from 3 to 18 months will be nurtured through the transition from home to nursery. The team will follow the routine you've established at home in a cosy and stimulating environment complete with a sleeping area and access to a secure baby garden.

In the toddlers room there are lots of different areas where children can explore and develop their natural curiosities. Catering for children aged from 18 months, the furniture and resources are designed to promote development and children can engage in a range of activities that are created to suit their individual interests. The room also has its own bathroom area to support your child with potty training.

The pre-school room is all about getting ready for school. Children aged from 3 to 5 years old take part in the Ready for School programme, which structures and brings into focus maths, reading, writing and other essential skills to ensure they are prepared for their next big adventure.

The team would love to meet you and your child, so book a visit today and they will show you all the nursery has to offer during your own personal tour.

My little one started to visit the nursery two weeks ago. His settling period was about a week as he was and still is so happy to go back and play with the kids and his key person. He is eating and sleeping well which is a sign to me that he is happy there. Definitely would recommend this nursery and
absolutely happy that we've chosen it.

Our child attended this wonderful nursery for two years graduating in September 2020. We have seen our little one transform from a toddler into a happy and confident little boy ready to start school! This was all because of the amazing staff at Brighthorizon’s Lewisham, their support and encouragement
and the happy environment which the nursery provides for the little toddlers to bloom!

My son started going to the nursery since he was 7 months old and stayed there till he turned 4 and started school. Our whole experience was very positive. As parents we were always confident that our son was taken very good care of. The transition from baby to toddler to ready for school was very smooth.
The staff were extremely friendly, polite and patient in dealing with the kids as well as us parents. They were very forthcoming with all information related to our kid. The most important thing about the nursery - is that the child should be healthy, have good food and in nurtured in a happy, fun-loving, learning environment. In our opinion, the nursery exceeded our expectations and we as parents were never worried. I highly recommend this nursery to all parents.

Overall a really great nursery, warm interactions with the child, learning new words every day. The manager deals professionally and is understanding with any queries or concerns you have as baby toddler settles in.
The only improvement I would suggest is some other nurseries have a website or app
to exchange updates or pictures of how the child is doing, where at Bright Horizons they are still paper-based and hand over at the end of the day. Still works well.

My son really enjoyed his time at nursery, so much so he refers to it as holiday! He has come on leaps and bounds whilst attending, made lots of friends and loved all the staff. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly and always been very helpful and flexible. Thank you!

Right from the start, all staff have been tentative to my daughter. She is an independent little girl but started nursery at 8 months old as I had to go back to work, so naturally worried she was the smallest there etc. But all staff, even the chef, have made it very easy for her to feel settled and
have given me confidence right from the start, any questions I throw at them they know the answer and if not they find out immediately. My daughter's key worker is an angel. Thank you for looking after and teaching my daughter for the days she is at nursery.

My son started at the nursery in Owl Babies in Nov 2018 (at 11 months) and has been full time since Jan 2019. When I first visited the nursery my overwhelming feeling was how kind, friendly and caring the staff were - and with the new additions to the team, this has only been reinforced.

He loves

his time there - with the team, the other children and the activities. When he hasn't been feeling himself, the team are always there to provide the cuddles he needs. Everyone knows each child and there is a real sense of community about the nursery.

In addition, his appetite has improved significantly and he is much more adventurous in what he eats.

Thank you for everything, it has made going back to work much easier knowing he is in such a caring environment.

It's a really lovely place to take your child with warm and friendly staff who are genuinely interested in the children and their life outside of nursery. The children are happy, well cared for and engaged in age-appropriate activities at all times. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

My 21 month old daughter has been going to this nursery since the last 7 months. With Bright Horizons Lewisham, she loved it the first day we went for a tour. The settling period was fantastic as the staff and especially one staff member, was very accommodating and my daughter took her time to settle
in. It was comforting for our family as we were not rushed into it.
Over the last few months, we had a few hicupps which we brought up to management but two staff members were both very prompt and our feedback was dealt with seriously and we have seen tremendous improvements on points we had raised. We are always communicating with the staff/management and they keep us posted on issues and various other developments regarding our daughter. The staff are very nice and always cuddle our daughter if she is emotional, this one staff member would randomly send us pictures sometimes and that just brightens up our day.

Room staff all excellent, provide good level of care.
Up until new management started the management was not satisfactory. For example, no communication, was not told when child's key worker left or when child was moving rooms. New management have been in place a few weeks and so far are making good
progress.
The nursery is most expensive in area and costs continue to rise. Extras such as French, Yoga etc have all been cancelled so not clear what we get for extra cost?

Staff are lovely, warm and very approachable. They have a wide range of activities and put the thought and effort into making it fun and enjoyable for all. The chefs are lovely and creative. They celebrate and get involved with what seems to be every festival and event going, so the children always
have something to look forward to :). My child has enjoyed it all and is without a doubt ready for big school. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.567)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.567) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Lewisham Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.875 for Bright Horizons Lewisham Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (42 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.875
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.692 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Lewisham Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 63 number of registered child places is 12.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.6 = 0.317
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

With an NVQ Level 3 in children's care learning and development, I have worked with young children from the age of 3 months to 5 years of age. I have over 9 years of experience working within the childcare sector and throughout this time I have made it my mission to provide young children with opportunities and experiences that promote and support their development to the highest of standards and enrich their young lives during a time that is considered to be some of the most important years of their young lives, simply because birth to five matters and because I absolutely love what I do.

My journey with Bright Horizon Lewisham started on the 12th of April 2021. After a year of working as a room leader supporting my colleagues and providing exceptional care and education to the children within the nursery. I progress to the position of deputy manager, today my mission remains the same. To create an environment that offers families a high-quality childcare experience where young children are provided with opportunities and experiences that enables them to thrive and reach their full potential.
