The nursery manager is very good at her job with good oversight of what is going on in all the rooms (as well as great with the children in her own right) and there is a clear open door policy of parents being able to chat about any aspect of their child's care at any time. The nursery is relatively small and we very much like the smaller, friendly, almost family atmosphere of the nursery. The nursery has a very cheerful, no fuss administrator too which makes dealings over things like paperwork very straightforward.
Having reviewed many nurseries in the local area, Bank Street stood out in their approach to child development in general and to my son’s individual needs; and the quality of staff, the play equipment and the facilities. The nursery manager went above and beyond to accommodate my son at short notice and despite it being part of a bigger group, it does not feel corporate and management has done an amazing job in setting up a unique nursery environment in the Canary Wharf area. The settling in process gave me huge comfort that I’m leaving my son in great hands and in a caring environment where his specific needs are catered for.
I have used Bank Street nursery for back-up care a few times in the past few weeks. I am incredibly impressed with the staff and how they have always been available to provide updates on how the boys are settling. Both were very happy on pick-up.
We moved over to London from South Africa in May 2018. As a mom, I was terrified at unsettling my 2-year-old little boy from his home, school and nanny back home, who he loved and then to transition him into a new country and nursery. When I first visited Bright Horizons in Bank Street, I immediately felt at home. We embarked on the nursery's settling-in programme and my little boy settled in after just a week and without any tears. Bright Horizons did not just become a safe haven for my little boy, but with him happy at nursery, I managed to settle in easier in our new country.
We started our son into nursery a few months ago and like any first-time parent, were apprehensive about the process and prospect of leaving him in a strange new environment for 5 days a week. We were immediately put at ease through his settling in period and though it did take him a couple of months to get the hang of things, he absolutely loves his time at nursery now. It has been especially pleasing to watch the mutual bond he has developed with his carers, which is more than we could have hoped for.
I was hesitant to send my two year old to nursery, even for just 3 mornings a week as no nursery I had previously visited met the standard of care I wanted and needed for my daughter who has a speech delay. Meeting the manager and her staff was a breath of fresh air! The support, understanding and care during the settling, in period, has been exceptional. The flexibility in approach and information that has been extended to us on an ongoing basis has helped to settle her into a routine in a much shorter time than expected. I feel extremely lucky and thankful to have found a nursery capable of supporting my daughter’s needs and helping her learn and thrive. Having been at Bank Street for 3 months now my daughter thoroughly enjoys going to nursery, even after going on holidays and having never gone to nursery before.
I brought my Daughter to Bank Street nursery as a temporary daycare solution, however, my Daughter has so enjoyed her time with the team and the activities available it will be very sad to leave. I have always been treated with a welcome, kept well informed and guided as to my Daughters progress.
My 14-month-old had to go into nursery on an emergency backup basis as our nanny was unwell for a week. The staff couldn't have been more helpful to make this as easy as possible for us, especially as my son had never been to the nursery before (only playgroups). I would definitely use the backup service again.
Bright Horizons Bank Street is such a wonderful nursery, my son loves it there. All the staff are lovely and friendly and genuine and they do lots of activities with the children and show them so much love. We are so lucky to have found this nursery and got a space. They also take them outside into Jubilee Park too so they do get some outside time too which is great. Highly recommended.
As part of the emergency childcare programme, Bright Horizons Bank Street Day Nursery and Preschool hosted my 5-year-old daughter during 3 days in the Easter half term. My daughter was placed in the preschool room. Although she was the oldest one, she didn't get bored and very much enjoyed going to the nursery. The nursery staff integrated my daughter into the nursery activities and gave her "tasks" to do to help, eg setting up the lunch and snacks, helping other children wear the "yellow jacket" when going outside etc. She loved it! Plus, she loved the food!
Having to move our daughter to a new nursery on short notice, we found that the Bright Horizons Bank Street Day Nursery branch was very understanding and accommodating, and we were able to place her there with minimum hassle. The management and staff are always very warm and welcoming, and were supportive throughout the settling in period. After the initial hesitation of being in a new place, our daughter settled in very well and formed a strong bond with her key worker and made friends with other children in her room. There are a variety of structured activities organised for the children as well as ample opportunity for free play, and our daughter particularly enjoys the music sessions. Although the nursery lacks an outdoor play area, it benefits from natural light, and children are taken out for regular walks around the nursery. Overall, we are very pleased with the nursery, and the fact that our daughter looks forward to spending her day there is a testament to the level of care she receives.
This is a great little Nursery. Staff to child ratios normally exceed the minimum required. My son enjoys the interaction with staff and other children. The activities performed are varied - from sand and water play, to soft play, to outside walks and play. These clearly are benefitting and advancing his development. Reports are provided on his day-to-day progress after each visit to the nursery. His Early Years Foundation Stage report is freely available to monitor his progress. Food supplied is freshly prepared and of excellent quality.
My son struggled the last term in a different nursery and we both had a difficult time settling him in. It's such a relief that we have found the Bank Street Nursery. My son, who is a highly sensitive child and is attachment parented, had settled in instantly, now happily playing with his new friends and not cried even once. I find the atmosphere at the Bank Street Nursery very positive, supportive and relaxed. My son is learning new things every day, attends a PE class in the afternoons and he is looking forward to spending time there. The nursery's staff and all the carers are excellent and very attentive. I would recommend this nursery to parents with highly sensitive children.
Fantastic nursery! Walking distance to my workplace so has allowed me to get back to work earlier than planned. The staff are friendly and very responsive, I feel that my 8-month-old is in good hands. I love the open door policy which allows me to visit my daughter during the day and the layout of the nursery is great - the babies/children can see each other and interact between the rooms, my daughter gets to eat breakfast with older babies/toddlers, and I feel she can learn from them. Great selection of toys and books, nice range of activities and the babies get to go outside in prams for some fresh air. The nursery itself is very light and bright, big windows for natural light. Highly recommend if you are a working mum in the wharf.
This is a great nursery. I feel confident in leaving my child with the fantastic staff. The environment is great and the team all have a friendly and supportive attitude.
I have used Bank Street nursery as back up care and had a wonderful experience. From the time we arranged the care to the moment I picked up my little one, everyone was both professional and kind.
The nursery is conveniently located, facilities are excellent, it has natural light and even though the place is not that big, there is room enough for the children to have a good day. I felt that my baby could not be in better place for the day and I will definitely use them again if my normal care arrangements are unavailable.
Many thanks to the nursery especially to the nursery nurse for looking after my baby girl.
My girls (aged 8 and 6) attended the summer club over the August holidays and tell me that they have had a fabulous time in there.
The nursery is really overwhelming. We really liked the nursery, and I am willing to put her back to nursery around December 2017. Very nice nursery. The staff, manager and everyone is so nice. I really loved it. Highly recommended.
The staff are very supportive to settle my 3-year-old boy in the new environment. Although his first language isn't English, he can still make new friends in a short time. Although space is limited, they will take the kids to the outdoor park in good weather and to another day nursery with a larger indoor playground.
This is the favourite part for my boy. The happiness of the child is of utmost importance. Now he can walk to his classroom alone without crying, give his teacher a big hug and wave goodbye when I pick him up. The school is very much based on the principles of independence.
Really pleased with the current management at Bright Horizons Bank Street. The staff have been amazing in ensuring parents feel reassured their kids are in good hands. Thank you for your constant support in ensuring our son is well taken care of and more importantly, the parents are also taken care of.
