  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Day Nursery / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Day Nursery receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.479 for Bright Horizons Holland Park Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (90 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 144 Ratings = 4.479

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Day Nursery to friends and family?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.38 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Holland Park Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 15.8 positive Reviews (79 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 6 Reviews ÷ 15.8 Target = 0.380

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

I am absolutely thrilled with Bright Horizons, this is a beautiful centre. The educators are caring and work hard. I've seen a lot of progress in my son's speech development (coming from a bilingual family). The preschool group has a nice size garden only for their group. I would definitely recommend this daycare to all my friends.

When we decided to put our son into nursery, everyone told us "it is hard at the beginning, he will cry, but after a couple of weeks he will settle." I was very anxious on my first settling day. I was given the option to leave the room after 1 hour, the nursery told me they would call me if he gets upset. I anxiously stood by my phone for the entire hour and the nursery contacted me not long after saying the "he has done surprisingly well for his first day and has just fell asleep, we will call you when he wakes up". I felt at rest that my son was being well cared for. It was such a relief to be back to work without guilt. For that, I am very thankful. The management team and carers are great and happy to work here, and always have a positive attitude. Our son is happy and developing well. The building is very bright and clean. I highly recommend this nursery. I had the chance to visit a few nurseries and it is very rare to find a nursery that ticks all the boxes.

Our two year old son beams when we drop him off and when we pick him up - what more could we ask for?

My 3 year old son has been at the nursery Ladbroke Grove for almost two years, and our 18 months and daughter started at the nursery almost 6 months ago. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, the staff are loving the food is wonderful and the facilities are the best I have seen in London. As part of the Bright Horizons Group, we know our children are in great hands at a nursery with high standards for caring and learning. We look forward to many more years there.

My son has been going here for over a year now and is very happy here. He has definitely benefited a lot in terms of development and loves the staff members who are all very competent and caring. I have just started sending my daughter here as well and she is also doing very well and well looked after.

Overall good staff, some changes but nothings affecting my childs room. Not sure about cleaning as I saw staff regularly sweeping the floor and changing bin bags but never a full cleaning toilet, when kids are still learning a more often professional cleaning should be in place. Also spare clothes for kids not very tidy, kept in toilet. Activities on the pre-school should be more challenging for kids going to school in September 2016.

Marketa Cardon, Bright Horizons Team at Bright Horizons Holland Park Day Nursery and Preschool responded to this review on 07 Apr 2016:

We really appreciate that you have taken time out to share your feedback, your opinion is very important to us. The nursery has a full time housekeeper but it is also the practitioners responsibility to ensure that the children are in safe and clean environment. The carers in the preschool room have a weekly schedule in place with activities they will be carrying out daily which will be reflected from their planning.

I am going to share your comments with the Nursery Manager and address your comments. We especially take feedback regarding safeguarding extremely seriously, hence I would strongly encourage you to speak to us, so we can discuss your areas of concerns. Alternatively you can email our team on parentenquiry@brighthorizons.com or call us on 0800 085 4074.

Our daughter started at Bright Horizons Ladbroke Grove in February of this year and we have been delighted with the nursery so far. Staff really listens to your concerns and where necessary they take on board comments with regards to care. That is really important to us as our eight month old daughter settles into her new environment. We have always found the nursery to be very clean, which is another important factor for us. Staff are really very lovely and genuinely so! Our only negative is that meals are not organic.

Thank you very much for your warm words about our nursery. We really value your feedback. Please, can I encourage you to share your concerns regarding food and our menus with the nursery team. It's important to us that they are addressed and you’re totally happy with the high level of care we provide.

Our Summer Menu Cycle has been developed with the aid of our team of Development Chefs along with feedback from chefs, nursery managers, operational managers and parents. We are very proud of achieving the Children’s Food Trust Menu Approved Award in line with The Voluntary Food and Drink Guidelines for Early Years Settings in England.

So far has been a great experience. Like all new mothers, I found it hard to leave him but the staff have all been lovely and supportive to both myself and my small boy. A friend recommended this place to me and I would do the same.

Description:

Manager of the Ladbroke Grove Day Nursery and Preschool.

I have been working in childcare for the past 10 years starting my career at the age of 19 in our Wandsworth branch. Since then I have had the pleasure of managing Chelsea Day Nursery and Active Learning Fulham. I have also got to experience two Ofsted inspections receiving a good and an outstanding.

I was born in Cyprus and lived there for 2 years, due to my father being in the British Army. I then moved to London and was raised in Chelsea barracks. My family is originally Irish but the majority of my family now live in London. I have a great relationship with my family and love to spend time with them as much as I can. I started my carer wanting to be a paediatric nurse and completed my first year of training, however during my break I took up a position in Wandsworth Day Nursery where I fell in love with Early Year.

I am very passionate about the children in my care and will always make decisions based on ‘will it benefit the children’. I also push my staff to the best of their ability, encouraging training and growth.
