Welcome to Bright Horizons' nursery in Highbury is a modern purpose-built day nursery for children from 3 months to 5 years.

Situated in the revitalised area of the former Highbury Stadium, the nursery provides exceptional care and education for children in a convenient location. Commuting parents will appreciate the short walk from Arsenal tube station, ensuring easy access for drop-offs and pick-ups, and the dedicated car park for parents' use.

The nursery boasts well-resourced rooms for babies, toddlers and preschoolers and two great outdoor areas for the children to explore as well as close proximity to a communal garden which was part of the old Arsenal football pitch and nature reserve for regular visits.

Their team of experienced childcare professionals work closely with parents and the nursery holds regular family events throughout the year. An array of extracurricular activities for children include bilingual beats, Spanish lessons, cookery club and gardening club. A unique ready for School programme including growing readers, writers and mathematicians further prepares children for their transition to school.

Fees include all meals and snacks, branded nappies, cream, bottles and formula baby milk as appropriate and staff make drop off and pick up times as safe as possible with their convenient parent parking at the nursery.

Overall we’ve had a very positive experience with Bright Horizons. The staff are caring and attentive and have made the tough transition to nursery, as smooth as possible. Our baby seems to be given the attention he needs, does a range of activities and he’s happy when we pick him up. Areas for improvement
- more outside time would be ideal, more variety on food, more accurate reporting on the app (all naps/meals are reported, just with inaccurate timings and quantities) and more engagement with the parents on the child’s progress (this always has to be requested and is often just a quick conversation at the door).

The nursery provision is excellent, the staff are caring, supportive and approachable with developmental activities and curriculum work is clear throughout the phase. The toddler room is also of a very high standard and really supports the children to transition from babies to independent young learners.
The staff show in-depth knowledge to the children and provide clear and helpful feedback. The pre-school provision is satisfactory but suffers from having to support such a broad range of abilities. More could be done to push the older children and communication with home could be better.

We really enjoy going to the nursery. In the past year, our daughter made big progress in her communication and social skills, nursery staff have definitely contributed to that.
The staff are always friendly and welcoming, they are always happy to answer any questions. I really like the family APP
we wish the nursery showed pictures more often.

Very satisfied with the nursery and would recommend it to anyone. The staff are very caring and really make an effort with my daughter. There is always a range of activities and different themes each month so that is constantly exciting for my daughter. She loves it.

We are having a great experience with Bright Horizons and this has been particularly important during the pandemic. Our child feels happy and safe, the staff are caring and supportive. The recent introduction of the Bright Horizons apps has also been great so we can have a better idea of the activities
that the kids do during the day.

This is a fantastic nursery. My daughter has been attending since she was a year old and her speech and confidence has grown. She has made a lot of friends and has a good relationship with the teacher. They learn something new every day. Some outdoor activities in the garden are perfect.

We love this nursery! The staff always greet my baby with a huge welcome and show enthusiasm and kindness, which makes him and me feel at ease. The app has been great, and I like to see his nappy change, sleep and food etc. I feel like he is in good hands. I would like to hear what he has done each
day and see photos. He has developed a lot in the four months he has been there, and I feel the nursery has taught him a lot. We are very happy overall.

We are very happy with Bright Horizons. Our son has attended for the last two years and enjoys his time there. The teachers are friendly and caring, and they seem to engage the kids in a wide range of fun and educational activities. Our son has made lots of friends at nursery and often talks about the
things he has done, which is lovely to hear.

Could not be happier with this nursery and will recommend to anyone who will listen! Our boy started at 10.5 months old and although he has one key worker, who he has a close bond with, he knows and likes everyone who cares for him. This makes our lives, as full-time working parents, much easier to
know he is happy, safe and well cared for.

All of the teachers are fantastic, and my little girl loves every minute of being at the nursery. They have a good balance of activities and curriculum, encourage the children to be independent without making them feel isolated, and always keep them well fed. My daughter has learned things I don't
think I would have been good at teaching her and has a social outlet. Couldn't be happier.

We toured this nursery while pregnant and were very happy with cleanliness and emphasis on key educational skills. But I had to phone on/off for weeks trying to lock in a start date for our son, but was given noncommittal answers. When we finally agreed to it, I had the misfortune of arriving the day
they had a covid outbreak. The manager greeted me w/ her mask well below her nose (not v reassuring!) to turn us away.

Their staggered induction over two weeks was inconvenient and very stressful to deal with in tandem with going back to work (no clear plan, was told day by day what hours to bring him in). Worse, my veggie son was regularly just given "sweetcorn with pasta" (based on the daily scribbled piece of paper). When I pushed for the inclusion of nutritious eggs/beans/tofu/legumes I was told "we don't do that". Even when I handed in notice explaining why they didn't try to improve to retain us.

Our son is now at another nursery and he seems so much happier and sleeps three times as long there.

Our child loves going to this nursery and barely looks up when we leave him. He quite often isn’t that happy to leave at the end of the day either! This is a testament to the fun he has there with his friends and carers. He regularly talks warmly about the carers as being his friends and they take a
real interest in the children as individuals and their needs/particular development stages. There is great consistency in the people who work at the nursery and he seems to thrive in the familiar surroundings. He also comes out with lots at home that he has learnt there.

If I could change one thing it would be to develop the garden area more to make it more stimulating and to have more of a natural environment out there.

Delighted to have a place though and happy for the team on a well deserved Outstanding rating.

I’m very happy with the care my daughter is receiving at the nursery. English is not her first language and the teachers have provided her with very personal care. The nursery is spacious and clean and their food is excellent. My daughter loves going and is always has a smile when I pick her up in the
afternoon.

The physical environment at Bright Horizons is great - spacious, light and really clean. There is a decent-sized garden with lots of play opportunities, and the staff often just open the doors so the toddlers can play in or outside as they like, which offers them great freedom. My child is currently
in the toddler room, and the staff are very fun and caring, looking for lots of learning opportunities.

My son has really enjoyed his time in this nursery. The staff are always enthusiastic when they see him and they have taken care of him the best they can. We like the special events that the nursery organises, where parents can attend and see the children play with each other. The food menus are great
and he usually eats really well there. One of the downsides as part of a chain is that there seems to be quite a high staff turnover, the integrated carers helped my son transition easily enough though.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.080)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.080) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Highbury Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.880 for Bright Horizons Highbury Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (73 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.88
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.2 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Highbury Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 number of registered child places is 14. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 14 = 0.5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
