Bluebell Wood Children's Nursery is a day nursery in part of a lovely old historic hall on the edge of Heathfield offering warm, friendly and stimulating childcare, either full-time or part-time.

The nursery is in an area which was once part of the Goward Hall and which has now been converted to provide a beautifully laid out nursery with its own private garden. The nursery is bright and airy and equipped so that your child can enjoy a wide variety of fun, creative and educational experiences.

The nursery and garden are completely enclosed and security is paramount. Bluebell Wood is on the eastern outskirts of Heathfield, overlooking fields and woods but only a few minutes from the town centre and local schools. There is ample parking and commuters in the area will find it very easy to reach. The nursery is less than 15 minutes drive from villages and towns as far apart as Mayfield, Mark Cross, Buxted and Battle.

  • 2025 FEES FOR FULL DAYCARE NON-FUNDED:


    Children aged 0 – 5 years - Week full £360.00 per week / Day full (8 am –6 pm) £81.00 per day / Session morning (8 am-1 pm) £ 51.00 per session / Session afternoon (1 pm-6 pm) £51.00 per session.

  • Parents can book their child in to attend from 7:30am and up to 6:30pm. These are charged at £8.00 per half hour or part half hour.
    Terms of Payment (please see our Terms and Conditions).
    A non-refundable fee of £25 is payable on registration, along with an £80 refundable deposit for securing a place.
    Fees are charged on a monthly basis.
    Fees are payable monthly in advance, by standing order or BACS by the last day of the preceding month or by cheque by the 24th of the preceding month. The nursery closes at 1 pm Christmas Eve, for the period in between Christmas and New Year and on bank holidays. No charge is made during scheduled nursery closures.

I was sceptical about the premises initially, it’s not very spacious but the staff are excellent and do really wonderful, creative activities with the children. I have been very impressed and my children have loved it there.

Since starting nursery in January my daughter has settled in so well. The staff are all kind and considerate and willing to adapt to meet our routine and help my daughter settle in.
It has been wonderful seeing her develop and learn new skills at nursery. She clearly has a fantastic time and loves
it when we arrive. I know she is in safe hands and well looked after whilst I am at work. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they take time to tell me about my daughter's day.

We have loved our time at Bluebells. Our little boy bounces into nursery every day and we have found their care of our child and support of us as a family to be invaluable. Both my partner and I work full time and our son is at nursery from 8 am until almost 6 pm five days a week - it's not an easy
decision to choose but it is one that we have to do and having Bluebells as our childcare provider has made it a much easier decision. Our little boy is bright, curious and enjoys a challenge and Bluebells have given him the time, stimulation and energy that he needs - he adores the members of staff and they have helped nurture him into a well behaved, polite and caring little boy ready for his 'big school'. We will miss having Bluebells in our family but thank them from the bottom of our hearts for the care, consideration and daily delight they have brought our child (and therefore us).

Great experience from the first enquiry through to their first months of care. Very caring and nurturing staff who have our son's happiness and development as their priority. Our son has been attending since February and has learnt and progressed so much in this short time. The settling in sessions
were well organised and put us at ease. Its great to see our son so excited to be going to nursery in the mornings and then happy and relaxed when we collect him.

We are really pleased with the nursery, our son is now nearly 15 months old and his development is great, it is clear to see that a lot of this is down to the activities he does and guidance he receives from the staff. Our older daughter had attended another nursery which has since closed, which was
brilliant for her development, so we had reservations before we started about anywhere else being as good, but they were quickly banished. All of the staff are great at passing on relevant updates to parents, and I can see that they really care about the children. We like the opportunity to see photos and even better the comments on the things he has been up to, as a working parent that is really important. We would highly recommend this nursery and indeed have.

My son has been coming to the nursery for over a year now. We have been very pleased with the nursery. They are all very professional and friendly. We really enjoy the weekly updates of EYLOG and seeing the pictures and videos of him interacting with nursery staff and joining in with activities. I especially
like having the daily sheet that he comes home with RE: Nap times, BO, what food he has eaten and how much. I feel that with the amount of children that the nursery staff have they still manage to do a brilliant job and keep all the children safe and happy.

My daughter started attending Bluebell Wood last year when the nursery she was at closed down. She settled in very quickly, making new friends and really enjoying her time there. They have done a brilliant job getting her ready to start school in Sept and I'm so pleased that some of her friends from

The staff at Bluebell Wood Children's Nursery are fantastic and I know my son is in good hands.
He gets a range of foods to try, plays with their toys as well as has structured parts to his day where they enjoy messy play or be creative with different media.
He loves singing along to songs with the
girls and he really enjoys going there, which is something every parent wants!

I cannot recommend Bluebell Wood Children's Nursery enough, I was very nervous at first leaving my daughter whilst returning to work. The video and photo updates are so exciting! I also now have my son attending. They both are thriving from being social with other children, activities and craft /music
sessions. I especially like the one to one time they have with their own key worker. This makes my partner and I feel more at ease as they are getting to know our children on a more personal level. All events/programs and parents evening well informed too. Highly recommended

I have seen my granddaughter develop into a well-balanced toddler. Her understanding of numbers, colours, days of the week and months are unbelievable at such a young age. She enjoys her two days with the nursery a lot and often talks about it to me and her Grandad. Well done with all the set discipline
you install and food you provide, especially in such a confined space. My hat goes off to all of you that work there.

The staff are fantastic, the security is impeccable and my son is so happy there, always has been. My daughter absolutely loves going to Nursery, she loves the staff and talks about them at home, along with the friends she has made. The Nursery is always very helpful and accommodating when I have needed any extra support and happy to talk through any situation. And they do French classes my daughter
loves this at the age of 2.5 years old.

As soon as we arrived at Bluebell Wood, we knew it was the one for our daughter. The separate room downstairs for the under 2's felt safe and protective - especially for when our daughter first started. We like that there's a separate room for the little ones to have their naps. Now our daughter is
upstairs with the over 2's and is blossoming. They again have a separate room for the 2-3-year-olds and a slightly bigger room for the older ones. Everything has been well thought out, from the room displays to the equipment; It's clearly done with the children's development in mind. The staff choose a weekly 'theme' and the activities are based around it. My daughter really enjoys this and comes home wanting to try new things. The staff are all friendly and professional. Our daughter has key workers who focus on her learning needs and keep us updated with reports/photos. We have another nursery right near our house but we happily drive to the other side of town to attend Bluebell Wood.

Lovely nursery with fantastic staff. My daughter has been at Bluebell Wood since April 2016 and she has done so well. The teachers are very friendly and caring. They always keep me up to date. The Eylog online is a fantastic tool.
I cannot recommend Bluebell Wood more highly. Thank you to all the
team there. Especially my daughters keyworker.

My daughter has been at Bluebell Wood Children's Nursery for nearly nine months and has settled into nursery life really well and feel that it is all down to the lovely carers at Bluebell Wood Children's Nursery. It's great that she can interact with them all so much so she knows all their names. Her
confidence has grown so much since being here, so has her speech. Only the other day she surprised us all by saying all 12 months of the year! At 2 years and 4 months, that's pretty impressive. I would definitely recommend Bluebell Wood Children's Nursery, so much so, my niece is starting there next year!

She joined the team in 2019. Charlotte studied at Canterbury University, where she gained her Level 6 in Early Childhood Studies. Charlotte loves working with children and is passionate about outdoor play and supporting children to build the skills to create lifelong friendships.
