The Childcare Hub is Kids Play’s dedicated setting for nature-based play, designed to help children build strong connections with the natural world. All rooms offer free-flow access to woodland gardens, allowing children to move seamlessly between indoor and outdoor environments.
The setting provides care for children aged from 6 months to 5 years and also operates a holiday club for primary school-aged children. A wide range of resources supports every stage of development, from babies exploring natural wooden toys to toddlers enjoying water and creative play. Pre-school children benefit from Forest School activities and storytelling sessions held in the Hobbit House.
To encourage responsibility and care for living things, each room is home to small animals such as fish, hamsters, stick insects, and giant land snails. The Animal Care Hub, located at the centre of the gardens, is home to rabbits, guinea pigs, and chickens, with pygmy goats joining soon.
Sustainability and environmental awareness are key focuses of the setting. Children plant and care for vegetables and herbs in the roof garden, later using their harvest to make pizzas cooked in the outdoor pizza oven.
Practitioners build on children’s natural interests, turning everyday play into meaningful learning experiences. Children also enjoy exploring the gardens, taking part in weekly music, movement, and yoga sessions, regular visits to the Animal Care Hub, and Forest School activities such as den building, tree climbing, and nature exploration.

I love the nursery and all the staff working in it, they are loving and caring. Also, I love the way they organise the sessions and look after every child given their aptitudes and preferences. I trust in them and that is something really important for a parent when leaving their child in a nursery.

The staff are fantastic with the children and always welcome us - they are happy, positive and upbeat, friendly and helpful. My child loves attending and is coming on leaps and bounds.

My son is attending Knowlhill Day Nursery & Education Unit He is very happy there, all the teachers are always very nice and my son gets on with them very well. My son's speech is a bit delayed and English is not his first language, but the teachers are very understanding and supportive. He has developed a lot in there. They sing a lot, have plenty of activities, do loads of experiments. It's a lovely place.
I have also been impressed with the activities developed for the children and the level of care provided.
