Review of Glenesk School & Nursery from L V (Mother of Child) published on 16 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My child has had a fantastic time in Glenesk nursery. This was her first nursery experience and the staff have been incredibly supportive of both my child and me. Mrs Barnett has gone out of her way to get to know my child, learning her favourite colour so that the colour is available to draw with, colour with, etc., and encouraging her out of her comfort zone in doing activities with increasing independence. I've been really impressed with the progress that she has made, such as her improved knife cutting skills from weekly cookery sessions. I feel completely comfortable leaving my children in the care of any of the staff at Glenesk. Everyone is so warm and friendly. The regular updates on the app show how happy my child is at nursery and how much she adores her teacher.

Overall Experience
My oldest son and now my younger son have attended nursery at Glenesk. We feel that we are very fortunate to have such an excellent school near by. we were delighted with the school when my older boy was there and it was the natural choice for my younger son. He is extremely happy at nursery and can't wait to go in the mornings. Mrs Barnett, who is head of the Little nursery is a wonderful teacher and I feel completely reassured that my son is being looked after by her and her team who are the kindest and most professional group of teachers I have ever encountered. They have supported his toilet training, and his social and emotional development.
We have also been lucky enough to meet lots of other families and make lifelong friends.

The school facilities are good, the pastoral care is excellent and the food is also high standard.

We have been really happy with this nursery and the care our child receives. What stands out most is the genuinely individual approach they take with each child. The staff invest time in getting to know each child well, building strong relationships that help children feel secure and understood.

The school has a very open and welcoming atmosphere, with as much of an open-door policy as is possible, whilst keeping the building safe. Parents are encouraged to see what is happening around the school, which is reassuring and demonstrates the confidence the team has in the quality of their care.

I have been impressed by the staffing levels. There always appear to be enough adults present to provide attentive care, it feels like there are often more staff than the minimum required ratio. This creates a calm, supportive environment where children receive plenty of attention and support.

Our grandson is very happy at Little Downsend Leatherhead. He really enjoys his time there.
The staff are very attentive and have helped him settle in so quickly. He was quite a shy child but he has really come on with his confidence.
The activities, facilities and environment are superb.

We are so pleased with this nursery.

Outstanding in all areas. I cannot thank the team enough for how they have looked after my little boy. It is difficult as a mother having to leave the most important person to you in someone else's care, especially, when they are so young but with the team at LDA it made everything so much easier. Their communication is excellent and it leaves us in no doubt that our child is living his best life during the day! He holds his arms out every morning to the member of staff who comes to the door with a big smile on his face. What more can a mother ask for.

Really satisfied with the nursery , the teachers, staff and the learning methods

I am happy with the way the connection with the kids and care about them . I would like to pay more attention at kids drinking more water and encourage them to drink more . Also, can push them on eating the food more , either encouraging or offering other alternatives. The menu stand has to be changed accordingly and give the parents the opportunity to know the food option the offer to the kids .

Overall Experience

Excellent care. The nursery is more like a little school than a nursery setting (my children have been in a typical chain nursery setting previously) they have both come on tremendously academically which will leave them very well prepared for school.

They also focus on other useful practical life skills before school starts like zipping up coats, toileting etc.

There is excellent structure, and the teaching methods seem to create good academic outcomes.

This is not an easy going play group type of environment. There is a strong focus on literacy , reading, writing and maths in core school hours (core hours are 9-3). This amount of structure and focus will suit some kids more than others, especially at the little age of 2.

Overall absolutely excellent. I would not send my child anywhere else!

My only worry is once my child came home with a burn and neither my child or the school could explain where it had come from. The school didn't follow up.

We absolutely love Little Downsend Ashtead! From the very beginning, the team has made our family feel so welcome and supported. Our children are genuinely happy every day, coming home smiling and full of stories, and excited to go back the next morning.

The staff are caring, attentive and truly invested in each child's development. A lot of effort goes into creating a nurturing, stimulating environment, where we feel completely confident our children are well cared for and are encouraged to grow in confidence and curiosity.

We couldn't ask for a better star to their educational journey! Thank you, Little Downsend!

We have absolutely loved our nursery experience at Little Downsend. Both of our daughters have spent their pre school years there and we have nothing but positive memories. The level of care and kindness is second to none, and the quality of teaching is fantastic. The staff really get to know each child, and take the time to work with them individually. It's the best possible environment you could hope for!

Overall Experience

Little Downsend Leatherhead provided a truly exceptional transition for our little girl when we decided to switch from a childminder to a more structured nursery setting. We were blown away by the attentiveness and nurturing nature of the teachers, and very quickly our little girl began to flourish in her new setting. We've now been with the nursery for 1.5 years, and would love nothing more than to stay on for Reception. Sadly it's not financially viable for us, but we feel great knowing we've given her such an excellent intro to what 'big school' will be like. They've really set her up for success, and have gone to great lengths to make learning engaging through clever, intentional play that means she hasn't even cottoned onto the fact that she's learning important stuff. Our funniest and most impressive highlight so far was when our little girl got down from the dinner table and whispered in my ear that 'Wassily Kandinsky is a famous artist' - I'll remember that one for a long time!

Little Downsend Epsom has exceeded our expectations. The support, care and attention that our son receives is of an exceptional standard. There is a real family feel with a focus on the children each reaching their full potential. He runs in happy every morning and even asked us if his teachers could come to his birthday party. Learning there is fun and inclusive and we were blown away with how much our son has achieved in the relatively short time he has been there.

Outstanding nursery. I genuinely don't think I could find better care for my 2 year old son. The level of thought going into the tasks and activities is inspiring. The care the children receive is excellent, the grounds are lovely and the resources are new and high quality. I'd recommend this nursery to anyone.

Our son started at Little Downsend when he turned 1 and we could not be happier with the care and support he has there. The staff are so attentive and keep us regularly updated and clearly really care about the development of the children that attend. He settled very quickly, and is so happy when he is dropped off and picked up. We can already see how far he has come and how much he has developed in the short amount of time he has attended. I was worried how he would sleep, would he eat okay, would he be happy not being with mummy and daddy, but safe to say he is thriving and loving it. We've been so impressed and are so pleased we enrolled him!

Friendly and supportive staff I find the school adaptable to the child's needs. Diverse educational offering with exposure to PE, forest school, languages, mathematics phonics etc from an early age. Very understanding and flexible with extended hours if needed at a fairly short notice. The school itself presents well with all the children in a comfortable uniform.
