WHAT WE ARE LEARNING - WEEK COMMENCING 11TH MAY 2026

Clever Cats and Clever Kittens Next week in the Preschool Room we will be focusing on uniformed services and International Day Of Families. The Clever Cats will be encouraged to make their own family portraits, please could you send in some family photos to help your children with these. They will also be listening out and looking for emergency services on our daily mile and they will also be experimenting with different dress up outfits pretending to be different emergency services’ staff. The Clever Kittens will be learning about our emergency services, what they do and how to contact them.  Book of the week - ‘Superhero Like You’ Song of the week - ‘Here Comes The Firetruck’ Ladybirds Next week the Ladybirds will be looking at Uniformed Services. The children will be able to explore in a variety of different services around the room, we will have a construction set up filled with different types of blocks, hard hats and hi vis vests. We will the be able to explore in a police station set up int he home corner, dressing up in some police costumes! In the tuff trays we will be putting our own fire using spray bottles to develop our gross motor skills, and exploring in sand and working on our mark making! On the craft table we will be making our own police badges, using cardboard, paint and sticking on Pom poms!

Butterflies Next week, our Butterflies will be exploring a fun Uniformed Services theme through sensory play, stories and discovery activities. The children will explore red and yellow paint in ziplock bags, using their hands to squish the colours and find hidden fire pictures underneath, supporting sensory and fine motor development. The Butterflies will also practise pouring water over fire pictures to develop hand-eye coordination and early cup skills in preparation for open top cups. During small world play, they will explore firefighter, ambulance and police toys to encourage curiosity, language and imaginative play. We will also share the story That's Not My Fire Engine, exploring the different textures and enjoying listening to the story together.
