Festivities were well underway at Highbury Lodge Day Nursery in Hitchin as proud colleagues and children marked the setting’s 25th birthday with a day of celebration.
Decorated with balloon arches and bunting for the milestone occasion, the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Highbury Road provided the perfect backdrop for nostalgia, as teams reflected on the thousands of young lives they’ve helped shape since opening their doors in 2000, all whilst enjoying a buffet, cake and gift bags from grateful managers.
Throughout the day, children were delighted to immerse themselves in all the activities on offer, including party games and arts and crafts sessions where they made special birthday cards, whilst proud families joined in with the festivities during pick-up and drop-off times.
Over the years, Highbury Lodge have taken part in endless community ventures, including visiting residents in local care homes and taking part in litter picking initiatives to clear up their area, as well as being the proud holders of a host of accolades, including the prestigious Green Flag with Distinction from Eco-Schools for their environmental efforts.
Since opening, the nursery and its colleagues have also helped to raise thousands of pounds for worthy causes including CRUK, The Trussell Trust and Mind with fundraisers like sleep rough nights, summer fayres and sponsored cycling challenges, contributing to the 3.5 million plus figure raised by Childbase Partnership for charity over its history.
Highbury Lodge Day Nursery Manager, Kirsty Rose explained;
“We’re thrilled to be celebrating 25 years of fun and learning at Highbury Lodge. It’s incredible to reminisce on all the memories and achievements we’ve experienced together and even more special to share the day with our families who have always been so supportive. We are hugely grateful and can’t wait to see what the next 25 years will bring.”
