  • Puddleducks Children's Day Nursery Malton, Malton
Puddleducks Children’s Day Nursery Malton is situated just outside the lovely market town of Malton, perfectly located beside the A64 on a main commuter route out of Malton. The purpose-built nursery boasts spacious rooms and large, enclosed outdoors areas for children to play and learn. Having been designed and built with children and their needs in mind, the nursery is a well-designed, homely environment. Its has its own private car park to the front of the building, which is easily accessed. Places are offered from birth, up to children leaving for school and the setting contains 3 rooms, babies, toddlers and preschool.

When visiting the nursery, you will notice there are very few plastic manufactured toys. The team are strong believers that the more a toy does, the less a child learns from it. So, typical plastic toys with their flashing lights and noisy buttons do not feature in the nursery. Instead, they value open-ended, recycled, real items. As a result, children show deep levels of engagement and curiosity in their play – both are essential for effective learning and development.

The team of staff are dedicated to excellence and a key person approach always ensures that they are enabling and supporting close attachments between individual children and individual nursery staff. The Key Person approach recognises that an infant is distressed by differences and comforted by the familiar. Before your child begins their journey at Puddleducks, you will be informed which member of the team will be their key person.
Your child’s key person will meet any physical needs, such as changing nappies, feeding or cuddling at nap time, and in this way, they begin to build a secure attachment with your child. Touch is a powerful non-verbal message, reassuring children that they are liked and welcome, and cuddling is promoted. Your child’s key person will be your main point of contact.

Great nursery, my baby loves going and although it took a while to get used to it. I think she absolutely loves it and always comes out happy and smiling. The size of each room is great for the children to have different sections to play in, and the outdoor area the same. By the sounds of things they
have lots of fun activities they can choose to do which are some things you wouldn't necessarily do at home. The staff are also really lovely and always attentive and friendly.

We couldn’t be happier with Puddleducks and the way they have been so impressive with our child, so welcoming and kind to us after we were afraid of him starting nursery being so young. His key worker is so lovely and just so welcoming every time we see her. I feel like he is going into a safe place
every time I leave him, and as a mum, that is all you could wish for.
Keep up the amazing work team Puddleducks.

My daughter started Puddleducks in Malton at eight months old in January and she absolutely loves it. After viewing the nursery last year, we knew it was the one we wanted her to attend as it just seemed above and beyond the rest. She goes in smiling and looks back when we pick her up! The team are
fab, keeping us posted and posting photo updates of the day's activities. I have 100% confidence in the staff there, and I'm so pleased how much my little girl enjoys it.

Our daughter has been at Puddleducks since she was 8 months old (now 2) and the care and love all the staff show her is incredible. I know she's in safe hands, has an amazing time (the smile on her face speaks volumes), eats and tries a variety of food, and does lots of different activities inside and
outside. They have supported her every step of the way and she's now growing in confidence and exploring different things - she now loves baking and climbs more confidently for example. The staff went above and beyond when she became scared of water and made sure to provide extra water play and talking about bath time which helped massively at home. I couldn't ask for more. Thank you so much!

After many years of attending different nurseries with 3 children, I can say with confidence that Puddleducks is by far the best setting we have ever been to.
When you enter the nursery on a morning it is welcoming and calm which helps both kids and parents! Days are filled with Imaginative, fun activities
which are facilitated by the most amazing, kind and capable staff!
Our son has a wonderful relationship with his key worker but also with all other staff too. Communication from management is regular and effective and nothing is ever too much. As a parent, I feel the nursery involves us in decision-making and prides itself in letting us in to see what our children are experiencing on a day-to-day basis.
I recommend Puddleducks to everyone I speak to.

My daughter has had a great start to her education at Puddleducks. She has recently moved to toddlers after having an amazing time in the baby room with a great relationship with her key worker. Everyone at Puddleducks has gone above and beyond to make the transition for my child (and me!) as smooth
as possible with reassuring emails and pictures. She was already blowing kisses to her new key worker who is so lovely and bubbly. I couldn’t recommend this nursery enough we have had nothing but a positive experience with all the staff friendly, smiley and understanding.

When we were searching for a nursery, we fell in love with Puddleducks. The effort the staff put into the rooms, equipment, and outdoor facilities, really outweighed other nurseries. But, the main reason for choosing Puddleducks is because it's instantly obvious how happy the children are. They are
engaged in the activities and we know ourselves, how much our little girl loves her time with the staff. The staff form brilliant relationships and have a really good feedback loop. I always feel informed about how my little one is progressing and what they are working on.
As a parent, letting go of your little one is a big step. Knowing our little one was going to Puddleducks made it easier. She's really come out of her shell and has become so much more confident. I trust the staff implicitly. For me, there is no other choice. The nursery is very popular, so I'd recommend booking asap to guarantee a spot. That's the only downside, there is more interest than there are places.

My little boy loves his key worker so much and it makes me happy knowing he’s going to someone so lovely and caring.
He gets to play and do so much as well as meet other little people and socialise in a nice safe and clean environment. The staff are really good at keeping you informed on any accidents
or if your child is just having an off day. And it’s nice to be able to phone in and check on them knowing the staff genuinely care and want you and your child to have a happy experience.

Puddleducks have been brilliant for our son. He loves going, the staff are really friendly and engaging. They are brilliant at keeping us informed of what our son has been up to, and in helping him to grow and develop. He runs into nursery in the morning with a smile, and leaves with another big smile.
We feel so comfortable leaving him there and we are so grateful for having such a fab nursery take care of him.

Puddleducks has been great for my little girl. She has a great bond with her key worker making dropping off easy. Whilst my daughter is at nursery I know that she is well looked after as the facilities are just fab and the team plan activities all day each day so the children are constantly learning
and playing. Each day we get to hear how the day has gone for our little one. Her confidence is increasing and she is coming on in leaps and bounds.

Our child joined Puddleducks at 9 months old and from introduction to the nursery the staff have been fantastic, every morning the staff are always very welcoming when arriving to drop your child off. Having a key worker to welcome our child each day is great and we feel we have a good relationship
with them and our child feels comfortable. The facilities are great and found our child has come on so much from just attending one day a week.

From the moment we walked into Puddleducks for our initial look around, we knew we had found the perfect place for our daughter to attend. From their nurturing staff and approach, to the comprehensive levels of communication on a daily and termly basis - with parents meetings, opportunity to visit the
setting and play with our child and learning journeys. We could not be more content and happy with the service they provide. We are in no doubt that Puddleducks is giving our daughter the best start to her time in early years with regular reviews, celebrations and targets provided, preparing her for her next steps when she starts school. An absolute asset to our local area!

I couldn’t ask for a better nursery for my preschool-aged child. The everyday learning they do has been a huge part in my boy's development and learning, I am so pleased he’s had the opportunity to go to Puddleducks I count ourselves very lucky. Before Puddleducks my boy did attend another nursery in
another area and when we moved here we looked round a lot of nurseries in the area but nothing compared to Puddleducks. Everything they do goes above my expectations including taking them out for Halloween, martial arts classes, visiting care homes, the list goes on. They really do go above and beyond the normal nursery duties. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Firstly I can’t tell you how much my son loved the toddler room and I can’t thank the staff in there enough. I saw him come on leaps and bounds and he was always so happy and excited to go.
Recently he has transitioned into the pre-school room and this transition was made as easy as possible for him
and he has now settled in really well. The team always keep reassuring me how he is doing.

We have twins who have been coming to Puddleducks for just under 1 year. They are both very happy there. The staff are always lovely and work hard to keep the parents engaged in the children’s happenings in the day. There seems to be a huge amount of activities on offer too with lots of diversity in
what the children get up to. My only consideration would be how many outdoor activities are on offer and how much time the children spend outside. The space for all the children isn’t extensive.

Caring, compassionate and professional and 3 of the words I’d use to describe Puddle Ducks. My daughter absolutely loves going and her life skills are thriving because of the setting the staff provide. She has an incredibly strong bond with her key worker and I am 100% comfortable leaving my daughter
in their care. The resources and teaching that are provided are amazing and I can’t recommend them enough.

My daughter absolutely loves coming to Puddleducks and has been attending for over a year now starting in babies where she settled beautifully and transitioned into the toddler room taken in her stride. She has built the most amazing relationship with her workers and is always warmly greeted on a morning.
Her development has come on leaps and bounds and she is able to explore, learn and grow. The environment created at Puddleducks is homely and warm and my daughter clearly feels comfortable and safe. She loves telling us about all the different activities she has been doing, which offer variety to spark interest.
We couldn't be happier with Puddleducks, and all the staff who work so hard to make it a wonderful place for your little one.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 41 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 41 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.963 for Puddleducks Children's Day Nursery Malton is calculated as follows: ( (475 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 492 Ratings = 4.963
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Puddleducks Children's Day Nursery Malton is based on 41 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 number of registered child places is 14.4, which has been reached with 41 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
