Halfmoon Montessori Nursery Reviews (13)

The staff really take the time to get to know your child, and their interests and to help them to grow and learn at their own pace.
I could not recommend Halfmoon more highly and I am so happy that it was recommended to us when we moved here.
The team are wonderful, warm, loving and educational in a non-aggressive way. Our little boy loves all the teachers and we couldn’t imagine a better start to his educational foundation, so much so that we’ll be sad to leave.
Don’t be put off by the less than glamorous look, what it lacks in decor, it more than makes up for in love, nurture and a homely feel.
We love it!
Our son has attended Halfmoon Montessori for over 2 years. The staff are absolutely fantastic and have all worked at the nursery for a long time, which provides much-needed stability to the children. The staff are all very experienced. The nursery provides a nurturing environment and it excels at ensuring children are ready to progress to reception year by, for example, teaching phonics.
We love Half Moon Montessori! All the staff are warm and friendly, greet you with warmth and smiles, and genuinely care about the children they are looking after. The children do a wide range of fun, stimulating and creative activities to support their development and learning. My son's school teacher said the children who join Reception from Half Moon are incredibly well prepared for the transition to school. The children regularly bring home things they have made, often connected to seasons, special days or celebrations. There is always a Christmas show and a summer show. Each child's key worker provides detailed observations, supported by photographs, every half term and great care and attention goes into these. The children bring home a portfolio of their work at the end of every term too. And a mobile farm comes each year and the children get the pet the animals. There are optional extras including Playball. This is an outstanding nursery. I couldn't recommend it more highly.
All my three children have attended this nursery and it’s been consistently brilliant. The teachers are caring, experienced and very importantly the staffing is very stable and established. The teachers really care for the children and develop a rich curriculum based on the Montessori approach. I highly recommend the nursery.
Hope all the best and success.
I cannot recommend it highly enough, I just wish we’d known about it sooner!
Two of my children have attended Halfmoon Montessori, with the youngest about to transition to school. I simply cannot fully put into words how amazing this nursery team is. Both of my girls have flourished in their care, and have enjoyed every minute. The kids don’t realise it, but they are learning so much with every activity, and I am constantly baffled by the things they have learnt at nursery - self-care, phonics, numbers, things about the world around them, and have built such close relationships with the other children and teachers. Both girls were entirely ready for school by the end of their second year there, and the older one still speaks so fondly of the team, 4 years later! I will miss Halfmoon, and unreservedly would recommend it as a setting. There are certainly fancier buildings, but the care that they offer, the learning and approach are in my mind unparalleled in the area.
Two of our children have attended Halfmoon Montessori and have absolutely flourished there. The staff are very experienced and dedicated to the children. It is a wonderful nursery, we have had a very positive experience and would recommend to family and friends.
They:
1: Are amazing teachers - the five members of staff are so smiley, professional and hard working.
2: Have a lovely outdoor space, including a grow-your-own garden, sand and water.
3: Take childcare vouchers.
My daughter has been there for 2 years, and the teachers have been so fabulous - they know who she is, how to get her on side, they wait outside every morning from 8.30-9am until everyone has arrived, and are lovely to chat to.
Please go and have a look around! They also do after-school sessions.
Halfmoon is the most magical nursery setting. All 3 of my children have attended and loved every minute they were there. The staff are warm, caring and supportive. I cannot speak more highly of them all. The children run in happily in the morning, excited to get in and start their day and form wonderful friendships. It is also the perfect stepping stone for starting school. There is not a bad word I can say, it's a very special place.
We used another local nursery for our daughter which was part of a big chain where there was quite a high turnover of staff and I think this detracted from her experience. At Halfmoon, the staff have been there for a long time and seen generations of kids go onto the local schools in the surrounding area. Speaking to other parents and the head teacher at our daughter's primary school, they all raved about the kids coming from Halfmoon being ahead of peers.
We have no regrets in sending our son here.
My daughter has been at Halfmoon Montessori for almost three years and our experience has been nothing short of exceptional. The staff are wonderful and truly care, it feels like I'm leaving my child with family. They not only teach and encourage independence but also actively prepare children for school. My daughter could put her own coat, shoes, hat and gloves on from the age of 2. Our child is also already learning to read, thanks to their dedicated efforts. The small outside space they have is used well with gardening opportunities and professional coaches coming in to teach tennis and ball skills. They listen to parents, now providing further wrap-around care where there is demand; we have not had to use this as the times fit perfectly with drop off and pick ups for our older children at other schools in the area.
