The Old School House Nursery Walmley

I would highly recommend the nursery and encourage a visit. As soon as you walk through those doors it feels homely and safe.

The additional extracurricular activities are well-considered and varied, French and football being particular highlights.

My daughter has been attending Nursery here since she turned 1. The first few weeks were tough as she had not been well and struggled to settle, however since then she has flourished here and it is down to the amazing staff and facilities. I can’t recommend this nursery enough, they really do care about the children and it shows. I love the daily updates I get from staff when I pick her up, and the regular photos and updates on her development via the app are fantastic. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with our experience and would recommend to anyone.

We initially decided to send our daughter to a childminder, who we already knew but as she grew older we realised that she would likely gain much more from attending a nursery, where she would interact more with other children, have the opportunity to engage in more activities targeted at her age and get used to a daily routine. Having visited several nurseries, we chose The Old School House and we are more than glad that we did. From the outset staff have been adaptable and responsive to our daughter's specific needs, putting in place a support plan to ensure that she can communicate, partake in activities and learn. It has been nice to watch the relationship build between our daughter and her key worker and the impact this has had on her confidence and ability to complete tasks. We are able to check on our daughter during the day and always receive a timely response. We would highly recommend this nursery to anyone considering somewhere for their child.

Our son turned three in July and started in Badgers in September. Initially, he was upset being dropped off as he hasn't left us before, especially due to Covid-19. However, within days he had settled well and made some friends. This is all down to the teachers in his class making him feel welcome and loved. He talks about his teachers every day and now looks forward to going. Activities vary each day, the nursery app is excellent in being able to keep contact with the nursery during his day. It's easy to check to see how he is doing as observations are made regularly and communicated to us. The food choice is brilliant and a healthy range, this is also recorded daily on the app, with updates on how much he is eaten. The nursery staff are always available to assist and take really good care of our little boy. The nursery is very well maintained with plenty of space both indoors and out. We are thoroughly pleased with his progress and the choice to send him here. Highly recommended!

We visited the nursery before it opened and we instantly got a good feeling about the nursery compared to other nurseries we had visited. Since the day our son started at nursery, he's come on leaps and bounds all thanks to the amazing team at Old School House Walmley. The girls are always so friendly and welcoming and they do some lovely activities for the children. They put great effort into their observations which we love reading every week. They are very good at updating the parents' app throughout the day. We're looking forward to our son progressing through the other rooms within the nursery with the amazing staff at The Old School House Walmley. Thank you all.

I could not be happier with the care provided to my son since joining The Old School House, Walmley. He has developed so much and you get a real sense that the nursery individualises their care to meet the needs of each child. The settling-in period was such a smooth transition, everything was so efficient and transparent. They have very effective communication, also responding to queries, offering you reassurance and updating you on your child's progression and general nursery updates. You feel part of a community and cared for as a family. Every day they tell me my son has taken part in a full range of activities. Overall, the experience could not be more positive.

As a first-time mum, I was really nervous about putting my child in childcare and went to see a few different settings. Straight away, when visiting the Old School House nurseries, (both Middleton and Walmley) I got a great vibe and knew that's where I wanted him to go. The staff are all so friendly, relatable, knowledgeable and approachable and have been great at answering my (many!) questions. The organisation is really well executed and the parents' app that they use to keep us updated with everything is brilliant and has everything you'd want it to. We can see minute by minute updates on his schedule, what he has been doing and eating, as well as regular observations on his wider educational, social and emotional development. His key worker, in particular, along with another member of staff, is just outstanding. The one area is the cost! It is pricey and has been hard for us but we get everything included (nappies and milk too!) so we think it's very fair. Would definitely recommend this amazing nursery.

Cannot fault The Old School House Walmley. They have brought the absolute best out in my daughter. She started off very shy and a very fussy eater and the effort and praise they have given her since she started, has given her a massive confidence boost and she is even up for trying new food! Always a lovely welcome in the mornings. Constant updates throughout the day on their app to say what she's eaten and is up to. And then, always a quick handover when I pick her up to say what she's done through the day including suggestions of things to try at home. Would recommend this nursery to all!

Honestly, I could not ask for a better nursery for my son. Not only has he made some lovely friends he has made some wonderful relationships with the staff. Since joining the Old School House 1 year ago, his speech has come on significantly, he shares more with his brothers at home and he now loves to ride his balance bike, which he learnt to do at nursery. I love that they do activities with the children! I recommend them to anyone!

Our daughter has had the most wonderful experience at The Old School House Walmley since starting. She has developed so much and continues to each week, we can see progress in her personal and social skills, confidence, communication and she is always happy to go and happy when she comes home. The team are fantastic and when she struggled at the beginning to settle, we were not pressured in any way to leave her and I had the opportunity to stay and play, which helped her to settle. I get feedback every day and on the app regularly throughout the day and I always feel that she is safe and well looked after. I would highly recommend this nursery, I was very anxious about leaving her at the start and I am so pleased to see how much she has thrived whilst being at this nursery.
