Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Astwick opened in September 2019, and is built in a newly refurbished barn which is located in beautiful countryside in the hamlet of Astwick, right next door to the historic church of St Guthlac. It is an area of both historic and natural beauty where regular outings are arranged so children can freely explore nature to aid their learning and awareness of their surroundings.

There are dedicated rooms for various age ranges and each room reflects the seven areas of learning, as prescribed in the Early Years Foundation Stage. There is free-flow access all year round to a purpose-built garden where children can continue their learning but more importantly have fun, jumping in the sandpit or making mud pie in the mud kitchen!

Monkey Puzzle Astwick is wonderful. A setting with a strong ethos on learning through play, access to regular outdoor activities and genuinely nurturing. The exciting range of activities/topics provide lots of fun both inside and outside the classroom. A huge benefit is being set on a farm which the
children enjoy regular outings to explore. Our eldest in preschool loves the forest school activities! Additional weekly classes are offered: music and movement for the babies and French with for the older children. Staff are extremely caring and compassionate and work with parents - eg: gently encouraging a child's confidence to grow and provide reassurance to parents if needed; our youngest initially struggled a little with drop off as a lockdown baby. The parent app is great for quick communication as well as daily updates/pictures. Parents can also update on life outside nursery. Management is super! Always approachable, supportive and do everything they can to help. Thank you Monket Puzzle!

Lovely nursery in a beautiful setting. Set on a farm, the children get the experience of visiting the farm often and see lots of sheep and tractors. The staff are friendly and my child is thriving there.

Monkey Puzzle Astwick is a wonderful nursery.
All the staff are friendly, professional and caring and have taken the time to build a relationship and get to know our children.
There is a great range of activities for different age groups, with lots of outdoor play which our children both love.
Our
older son especially loves being able to go on walks and take part in forest school activities.
We are really happy here!

Monkey Puzzle is an excellent nursery and my children have loved every minute attending here. The staff are exceptional and provide such amazing activities to keep the children engaged. My two love being outdoors exploring so this is the perfect setting for them. Regular walks out on the farm, forest
school, lots of outdoor activities and fun. The nursery management team have always been really helpful and flexible for me with additional sessions and time changes which is exactly what you need when trying to juggle a busy work and family life.

My son started with the nursery in November 2021 and sending him to this nursery was the best decision we made. The facilities are lovely, both inside and out. The staff are friendly, informative and kind, towards myself and my son, and I think their communication is very good. The staff and management

Our daughter has been attending Monkey Puzzle Astwick for around 14 months. She settled in so well and absolutely loves attending - so much so that she shuts the door on me as soon as she walks through the door!


Her development has come on leaps and bounds since she started and everyone comments

on what a sociable little girl she is after being a 'lockdown baby'. The ladies in her room are so welcoming and friendly and the ladies in the office are always really prompt and helpful.


The setting is brilliant and we love that they go on walks around the farm and are introducing forest school activities at the moment. Many of our friends comment on how they wish their nursery was more like ours - particularly about the setting and the amount of information/pictures we receive each day through the app.

My baby started the nursery in August at 10 months old. Despite a few wobbly days to start with, she settled so quickly and gets so excited about going in now. As soon as we pull up in the car park she can’t wait to get in the doors. All the staff are friendly and make sure she is happy. My baby also
had food intolerances and it has never been a problem for them and she is able to participate in everything still! I recommend Astwick to all my friends!

We’re really happy with Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Astwick for our two year old daughter. She started when she was one and has moved through three age ranged rooms now. Our experience is that all the staff are very friendly, caring and understanding, building great relationships with the little ones.
They really create a lovely environment for the children inside and out, always doing lots of fun activities, themes for learning every month, going to see the farm animals and exploring nature in the beautiful grounds as well as fun play in their garden. Updates and pictures of general daily activities and regular learning observations for our little girl all via the app are really helpful to get a feel of what they’re getting up to and how they’re doing at nursery.

My daughter has come on so much since starting Monkey Puzzle. She can write her own name, is a lot more confident, has been potty trained, which nursery assisted with and gave advice. I love the fact it’s so outdoorsy and on a farm.

I am so happy we found this nursery for our daughter. It’s a really lovely location, set next to a farm with animals - which is a huge bonus as my daughter loves animals. The children get to spend quality time outside which is vital to their well-being and development. The nursery itself is a lovely
building well equipped with everything my little one would need or want. The staff are outstanding, they really do care and I feel very reassured that they take the best care of my girl. Our son loves it at Monkey Puzzle. The drive into the nursery is like something from a storybook and the nursery take the children outside daily if possible. My little one has developed so much since starting in February. Staff are always helpful and make a real effort to get to know the child’s family.
Communication is great and the app is a great idea. I am fully aware of what my little one gets up to whilst there and he always has a smile on his face come collection time. Would highly recommend.

Superb nursery set in the grounds of a farm. The staff are wonderful, friendly and very supportive. Activities are varied and I love that there is an opportunity to get outdoors and visit the animals on the farm. This makes the nursery stand out from others in the area. His development has come on wonders
since attending and I feel confident in knowing we have made the right choice. In a time where things are so uncertain, it is such a comfort to know how happy he is at nursery and we are so lucky to have been able to send him during this time. Would recommend to anyone without any hesitation. Love that we have the app to keep us up to date with everything he does each day and allows us to see pictures. We love it!

I would recommend this nursery, since my daughter has started I have seen a difference. I love the app that you can log onto to see how your child is doing and you see daily pictures and updates which is lovely. Also, that their keyworkers tell you at the end of the day.
The management and staff are
very friendly. Very clean safe and very healthy meals on offer.
It's so lovely that the nursery is on a farm and the children and babies enjoy the outside and see the farm animals at the same time.

Our son is extremely well cared for at Monkey Puzzle Astwick. Starting during a pandemic when he had never been around other adults seemed daunting but the staff made it so easy. He has now settled in very well and has good relationships with staff. We are well informed of what he gets up to when he
is there and they are quick to act if he isn't quite himself. The staff can be commended for doing everything they can to keep the children safe and healthy during a time when a lot of parents are nervous about leaving their children for the first time.

Our daughter joined the nursery soon after it opened and she loves it. She settled in very quickly and made lots of new friends. The staff are amazing as they make learning fun, our daughter has learned so many different skills in the nursery. They have a lovely outside space and they get to go on lots
of walks to explore fields, animals and a lake. I would definitely recommend the nursery.

My son finds it hard with places and people he doesn't know but he has settled in so well here and has been with Monkey Puzzle for over a year now. It's a perfect setting on a farm so they are out walking most days and having picnics. Surrounded by pigs, sheep and horses.
He has come a long way and
asks every day if he can go to "school".
They are very supportive and it's very child-led play.
I asked my son what he likes best and he said he enjoys seeing the diggers and tractors!
I have recommended this nursery to a number of people as I love it so much, you also get daily updates and pictures of what the kids have been doing.
Can't recommend enough you won't be disappointed.

I have over 20 years’ experience in childcare, first starting as a nursery nurse, then as a deputy manager and finally a manager working for two of the largest nursery groups in the UK. I have also worked in the NHS with babies and their mothers who were suffering with severe mental health conditions.


I have always loved working with children as no two days are the same, and children have a way to make you smile so much. It is a privilege to teach a child something new and watch them grow and develop until they are ready for school.


I love working at Monkey Puzzle Astwick as its always been a dream of mine to own my own nursery and I still can’t quite believe it’s finally happened! It’s no longer a job – it’s a passion, and I have absolutely loved putting my heart and soul into making my nursery such a beautiful place (even if I do say so myself ??). I also love the location on Church farm; it’s such an amazing environment for the children and my staff team.


In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my own three boys and my husband, going on family days’ out or movie nights at home on the sofa. I also enjoy spending time with friends and travelling.
