The Butterfly Patch in South Norwood provides excellent childcare to little ones aged 3 months to 5 years over 51 weeks of the year. Their long hours are suited to all families as it is open from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm, offering full days, AM and PM sessions.

They strive to provide outstanding care and education for your little ones in their precious early years with the support from carefully selected trained and passionate staff.

The Butterfly Patch consists of four rooms:

Glittering Glow Bugs for children aged 3 months to 2 years (with a separate sleep room)

Creative Caterpillars for children 2 to 3.5 years

Bouncing Butterflies for pre-school children

The Snug: a sensory room for all children to experience.

This is a fantastic learning opportunity for children of all ages to explore using their senses. They also offer extracurricular activities such as music classes, hairdressers, baby massage and more.

They have a free-flow garden for toddlers and a free-flow garden for preschoolers.

Finally, a good grub programme ensures fresh, healthy brain food is offered to children each day.

Our little girl has attended since she was twelve months old for three days a week. We are over the moon with how quickly she has settled and how much she looks forward to her days at 'school'. She is constantly babbling the names of all her new friends and her practitioners and is genuinely excited
every time we drop her off for the day! The communication from the nursery has been excellent and they have coped extremely well through these challenging times. I have recommended friends.

My son has been at The Butterfly Patch South Norwood for about eighteen months now and he couldn't be happier! He runs into the nursery in the mornings and at pick up time, still has a smile on his face! We've seen a huge development with our little boy's learning. The staff are lovely and attentive
to our needs and work well together with us parents. Very happy overall with the nursery, the staff and would definitely recommend this nursery to others.

Our son started at The Butterfly Patch South Norwood last July, aged two and he loves it there. The staff have always been really friendly and caring, they were super helpful with his potty training journey too. There is always a good range of activities for the children using lots of natural resources,
which parents get to see via photos and updates on a nursery app. The Butterfly Patch South Norwood have extended opening ours which is handy too. We're really happy with our choice of nursery and would definitely recommend them.

We cannot recommend The Butterfly Patch South Norwood enough! Our son started in the baby room when he was one. The staff were incredibly kind and supportive during his settling in. Naturally as parents we were wary of leaving our little one with strangers but they made us feel reassured and provided
extra updates during this time, so that we could see that he was okay. After only a few weeks he was happy to arrive and had clearly formed some strong attachments to the staff in his room. Some things we love about The Butterfly Patch South Norwood is that its a very small setting, so we know that our son is always with people that he knows and trusts. They have a great menu provided by an external specialist caterer, they focus on the children and not on sending hourly updates to parents. They have a huge range of different activities, the staff are really empathetic towards us as parents and they share our concerns and try to reassure wherever possible. They also have convenient long opening hours.

Our son joined the nursery full time at the start of the year, aged one. The staff are extremely friendly, communicative and caring towards the children and made the settling in period very easy. Each day there are different activities to do and the children are encouraged to explore and play in their
own ways (with lots of outside play). After a couple of months at home during the lockdown, our son was really happy to return to the nursery at the start of June. They have provided a safe, welcoming environment for the children to return to which has made us feel very comfortable with him being back. He is always happy to go to nursery each morning and exhausted following the days' activities each evening. We receive updates during the day showing us what he has been up to and the staff always fills us in at pickup time with his daily achievements and adventures. The Butterfly Patch is great and we never worry about our little man when he's there.

The staff at The Butterfly Patch created a stimulating and nurturing environment for my son’s educational and emotional development. He was one of the oldest in the class and in spite of this continued to thrive amongst the mixed ages in his room. The social interaction with children was really nice
and he developed strong connections with the staff. Staff were friendly courteous and professional and offered effective communication. The early years log was a particularly nice touch to see what he was getting up to throughout the day and know what he had eaten and how well. I would definitely recommend this nursery to other parents. I’m really grateful that my son was so nicely looked after whilst I couldn’t be with him and genuinely never had any complaints.

My daughter is always happy to go to nursery. The staff are friendly and helpful. Activities seem engaging and interesting. We love the eco-friendly ethos and the fact that all the children have the opportunity to enjoy themselves in outdoor activities. These take place either in the garden (they extend

My daughter attended here from the moment the nursery opened when she was ten months old, and she loved it once she was settled in. The staff in the building have been really supportive after I recently sustained an injury. My son missed 3 weeks of nursery but was welcomed back in a really heartfelt way. My son has improved majorly with his speech and his independence since starting 4 months ago.

My boy loves being here so much, he runs to the nursery with excitement every day.
He has a speech delay and receives great support from all the staff. They all put a lot of effort in to make sure children are happy and learn something new every day.
A great, homely approach makes this nursery stand
out from all the other nurseries in the area by far. We feel lucky to have found it.

Since attending Butterfly Patch Nursery our little boy's language has increased at an impressive rate. The staff are friendly and the management deal with all your requests. Our little one literally doesn’t want to leave when we come and pick him up. They update us when we pick up and use detailed description
via their online app. We have been extremely impressed and was just saying over dinner last night at how happy we are with the nursery. They have lots on offer and we have been inspired by what they are doing throughout the day. He has regular trips out and has made great friends.

Paige Pinder

Job Title: Area Manager Joined: 2018

Started my child care career when I finished school in 2009. I studied for two years at college whilst obtaining experience in a day nursery as part of my qualification I completed my experience and they offered me a permanent role.


Throughout my time I was given may different role which allowed my growth within the company including becoming the SENCO, Behaviour officer, room leader and third in charge. I worked with a range of children who had extremely complex needs giving me the experience of working closely with parents/carers and outside agencies.
During this time I also completed my Level 5 leadership and management in children and young people's services. I completed this course to help me further my career to management in child care.


In March 2015 I moved to Egypt for 12 months to work in a nursery. During this time I worked with a range of different families of cultures from around the world. I implemented the Early Years Foundation Stage ethos into the setting and was amazed to see how the children excelled and how much our families responded to the approach.


I returned back to the UK in April 2016 I became a manager of a brand new nursery. I was finally able to put all of my experience and knowledge into full practice. In this setting I achieved a "Good" Ofsted grade and continues to support the nursery and to staff to their full potential. I thrived of seeing not only the staff learn new things but the children excelling and being supported by such loving, caring and nurturing staff.


In November 2017 I decided that it was time to spread my wings, I had worked for the same company for my whole child care career in the UK and it was time to move on. This is when I found The Butterfly Patch.


I joined The Butterfly Patch in February 2018 at our Croydon setting. Our doors weren't even open. I took pride in helping to set up what is now a beautiful, inspiring and nurturing nursery and company.
Children are at the heart of everything we do, children’s welfare and safeguarding is central to all of our decision making. Our staff feel valued and supported from management.
In April 2019 I then transferred to the South Norwood setting to help launch and support the setting in the opening weeks. During this time I was also given a promotion to Area manager and now over see 5 Butterfly Patches
