With my wife and I both being new parents it was a rather daunting idea of handing our little girl over to strangers, albeit professionals! This fear, however, was eased greatly with the time and care initially received by the manager, she took a good amount of her time out reassuring my wife and I
of the set-up at Chestnut Boutique Nursery School @ St Nicholas House and how our little girl will be looked after. Explaining the routine in the room, the food that will be served and the activities she would be getting up to, all really encouraging and it was this that assured us St. Nicholas was the right place!
The whole handing over process was difficult going through the pandemic. Before the big first day came, it was suggested (as it is for all) we have a few introduction sessions. Here, our little girl met her key worker for the first time. She was wonderful, simply wonderful. Her warming nature made her go to her from the first minute. Easing our concerns from the start.
First-class staff, the lot of them. 5-star.

Lovely nursery. It is decorated beautifully, the staff are caring and really take the time to get to know your child. There are many toys, all made from natural materials. There are different activities provided ie painting/messy play. They cater well with my child's dietary requirements, providing
generous portions of healthy food. My child feels very at home here.

I cannot speak highly enough of Chestnut St Nicholas House. Since the moment my son started, they have gone above and beyond to ensure he is settled and that his needs are met. The staff are professional, knowledgeable, caring, trustworthy...I could go on.
My son loves attending nursery and both my
husband and I can go to work safe in the knowledge that he is being well cared for.
Thank you to all the staff for making my return to work as easy as possible.

A fantastic experience. A warm, friendly, inviting environment - like home from home. Chestnut's at St Nicholas goes against the 'norm' - it has created a lovely positive environment with it's carefully chosen furniture and toys. Having experienced the 'typical' nursery environment before my children
came here, I can honestly say this is the best I have come across. My baby and preschooler are thriving after only 5 weeks!

Since my child has started at Chestnut Boutique Nursery School @ St Nicholas House I can see he has developed more social skills and academic achievements. I'm really happy with what activities they have done up to now in the nursery. Also, the nursery staff are kind and approachable and very supportive.
I highly recommend this nursery.

There are no words I can use to stress how happy I am with the Nursery and Holiday Centre. The provisions in place are second to none. Facilities and upkeep of the premises and outdoor space is remarkable. Everything to aid a child’s learning, independence and wellbeing is readily available. I have
never been to a setting with such incredible staff and management. I can not recommend this setting enough.

Our 13 month old has just started here, my husband and I cannot fault anything about this nursery. Everyone has been so lovely and really helped ease nerves when settling him in. The staff really listen and take into account each child's individual interests, and creates activities based around these.
Our son absolutely loves it here, and he has already built a trusting relationship with the staff within a matter of days. He is obviously feeling settled as he is even having his naps there! The nursery feels more like a big, beautiful house, the facilities and activities are to a very high standard.
A huge, beautiful garden too with chickens and Guinea pigs, they spend lots of time outside too which he loves.
We honestly cannot express enough just how great this nursery is... and we would hugely recommend it to others.

My two sons love going to "Holiday Camp". The activities are thoroughly planned, well thought out, varied and appropriate to their age. The environment is safe and the staff are very friendly and welcoming to both the children and parents. I couldn't recommend the club enough. Every time I drop off
the children, I know that they are going to have a good time, and so do they. The hours they are open also suit my work which is rare for a holiday club and they get a delicious home cooked hot meal included from a qualified chef on site. Brilliant.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.330)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.330) out of 10 for Chestnut Nursery School @ St Nicholas House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.989 for Chestnut Nursery School @ St Nicholas House is calculated as follows: ( (94 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.989
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.341 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chestnut Nursery School @ St Nicholas House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 74 number of registered child places is 14.8. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.8 = 0.541
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
